Last month we gave 100 developers an opportunity to get every product in the Dundas Software stable (value $5,826) for only $999. The response was overwhelming. The 100 copies were gone in days! This time we're making it 500 copies. but when they're gone. they're gone. For only $999 you get 13 powerful MFC/C++ development libraries and tools, that are fully debugged, robust, and documented. Here's a quote from one happy goldrusher: "I heard about your Ultimate Gold Rush offer, and I had to jump at the chance to get all of your products at one time. I have been using the Ultimate TCP/IP library for the last several months and have been impressed with the ease of use, and the extensibility of the product. When problems have arisen, the level of support has been exemplary." -- Robert Scott Here's another: "I don't know why you guys chose to descend from whatever Higher Plain you come from to write MFC controls for us lowly human developers, but I'm enormously thankful that you have. I'd struggled with evil ActiveX grids for a month, trying vainly to convince them to do something even remotely approaching what I wanted before I stumbled across UG97MFC. It saved my life. Source code! Sweet, pure source code! O joy! O rapture! O bliss! I love UG97. I want to spend the rest of my life with it. I want to bear its children. Thank you _so_ much. We have a Windows product because of you guys." -- Greg Knauss http://www.dundas.com/goldrush500k Still. many developers, unfortunately, missed out the first time around. They couldn't respond in time to take advantage of the original Ultimate Gold Rush. So we're rolling out the Ultimate Gold Rush 500 to fix that. Be one of the FIRST 500 developers to respond to this offer. and you can still get 13 professional development tools (value $5,826) for only $999. "It's refreshing to finally see a software company that stands behind its products, instead of coming up with all sorts of reasons why the product won't work as advertised." -- Maurice Petrie http://www.dundas.com/goldrush500k Every product has been tested and debugged. Every product is fully documented. Every product comes with "live" tech support. Every product can save you days and weeks of development time. I thought the lists were subscriber-only posts? 2) even with an unlisted number, even with *67, an 800# customer gets a bill at the end of the month with your phone number on it (since they are paying for the call). Companies *routinely* compile lists and sell them of "Interested Customers" who have called their 800#.... so if you call, do it from a PBX or a payphone. If Joe Sixpack wants to say that there's a typo in the FAQ or suggest a way to make the Handbook clearer, why force him to read everything else sent to the list? Likewise, -www, -ports, and -questions all get a lot of comments and questions from people who have no reason to subscribe. (Not to mention the inconvenience to those who post from all sorts of random places.) This change is for the following section: Frequently Asked Questions for FreeBSD 2.X : Preface : Are there FreeBSD IRC (Internet Relay Chat) channels? I request the answers be changed as follows. 1.15. Are there FreeBSD IRC (Internet Relay Chat) channels? 1. There are three major IRC networks, EFnet, DALnet and UnderNet. There is also a smaller one for BSD chat only called BSDnet. 2. The original, or 'main' channel is #FreeBSD on the EFNET. To connect, point your client to irc.chat.org . 3. There is also a #FreeBSD on DALnet. For the US point your client to irc.dal.net . For Europe, point it to irc.eu.dal.net . 4. There is also a #FreeBSD on the UnderNet. For the US point your client to us.undernet.org . For Europe, point it to eu.undernet.org . 5. And lastly, you can point your IRC client to irc.FreeBSD.org . This server is on BSDnet and hosts #FreeBSD. 6. Each of these networks are seperate entities, and none of the channels are connected, so try each to find one suited to your chat style. Eg:- ftp://ftp.freebsd.org:/pub/FreeBSD/2.2.6-RELEASE/src/* has the tarballs for the sources that made up the 2.2.6-RELEASE. If you intend to track the sources as they develop, you should (a) either subscribe to CTM mailing lists (b) use CVSup (the recommended route) and bring down a local copy of the projects CVS tree. If you are just looking at one or two files, you can use the WWW interface to the CVS tree at: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi There is information in the FreeBSD handbook on how to operate each of these tools. Check out http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/ Hmm, perhaps this should be a FAQ? Instead use freebsd-questions@freebsd.org for that. About your problem: your ISP or whoever is your internet uplink might be blocking incoming and outgoing ICMP packets which are needed for ping. If you can ping to the router, but can't ping past it, blocking of ICMP is most likely what is going on (unless you also can't get to the machines in the world with other means such as ftp, http). -- Yan Jan Koum jkb@best.com | "Turn up the lights; I don't want www.FreeBSD.org -- The Power to Serve | to go home in the dark."
