In an article about Yahoo's use of Intel architecture amongst several
mentions that they use FreeBSD was this:

The company also reviews new technologies constantly. As an
IA-64 early development partner, Yahoo! is working to advance
a version of FreeBSD that is optimized for the 64-bit IntelŪ
Itanium[tm] processor and future IA-64 processors. With
support for massive 64-bit memory addressability,
IA-64-optimized software could enable Yahoo! to place truly
vast Web indexes directly into server system memory for
	lightning-fast response.
