Here are the results: 1. mplayer 0.90 was quite good. 2. But the new port (0.92) just shows one(?) picture and plays the sound. I mean: The video output freezes after the first (few (my eyes and video-in processing are not so fast)) pictures. I even pressed some keys but the picture was not updated. But the frame counter counted thorough. Ergo; Concordantly; Via-a-vis this result: The new port does not work so good on my box, but there was no cataclysmic effect (I hope you do not feel bad because of my reference to "The Matrix Reloaded (The Architect)", which does not look so professional). During "make install", /usr/local/lib/libavcodec.so.0 was symlinked to /usr/local/lib/libavcodec.so, and vice versa, so no actual lib existed. A quick vi of patch-libavcodec::Makefile fixed that. Now, when I capture using a script based on Steve O'Hara-Smith vcr, ffmpeg dumps core when it finishes: frame= 375 q=14.0 size= 9446kB time=15.0 bitrate=5158.8kbits/s ffmpeg in free(): error: page is already free Abort trap (core dumped) (gdb) bt #0 0x283d43e3 in kill () from /usr/lib/libc.so.5 #1 0x2843f1ec in abort () from /usr/lib/libc.so.5 #2 0x2843da7e in tcflow () from /usr/lib/libc.so.5 #3 0x2843daab in tcflow () from /usr/lib/libc.so.5 #4 0x2843eb78 in realloc () from /usr/lib/libc.so.5 #5 0x2843e51e in tcflow () from /usr/lib/libc.so.5 #6 0x2843e728 in free () from /usr/lib/libc.so.5 #7 0x280c8cb5 in av_free () from /usr/local/lib/libavcodec.so #8 0x280c7a66 in __av_freep () from /usr/local/lib/libavcodec.so #9 0x28084df5 in av_close_input_file () from /usr/local/lib/libavformat.so #10 0x0804f00f in strstart () #11 0x08049d55 in strstart () Lastly, I threw together some C code to set the tuner channel before firing off ffmpeg, but it seems that ffmpeg resets the channel, even tho I have not specified BKTR_FREQUENCY. Should this be the case? Is there any good example code for channel setting, besides digging thru fxtv source? Any help would be greatly appreciated. -F From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Dec 9 13:36:51 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1FBA716A4CE for ; Tue, 9 Dec 2003 13:36:51 -0800 (PST) Received: from smtp5.wanadoo.nl (smtp5.wanadoo.nl [194.134.35.176]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CF00D43D28 for ; Tue, 9 Dec 2003 13:36:49 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from steve@sohara.org) Received: from ams-gw.sohara.org (p0936.nas3-asd6.dial.wanadoo.nl [62.234.219.173]) by smtp5.wanadoo.nl (Postfix) with SMTP id 69138767B6; Tue, 9 Dec 2003 22:36:42 +0100 (CET) Date: Tue, 9 Dec 2003 22:36:38 +0100 From: Steve O'Hara-Smith To: Fernando Durango Message-Id: <20031209223638.546079db.steve@sohara.org> In-Reply-To: References: X-Mailer: Sylpheed version 0.9.7 (GTK+ 1.2.10; i386-portbld-freebsd4.9) X-Face: %]+HVL}K`P8>+8ZcY-WGHP6j@&mxMo9JH6_WdgIgUGH)JX/usO0%jy7T~IVgqjumD^OBqX,Kv^-GM6mlw(fI^$"QRKyZ$?xx/ Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit cc: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Subject: Re: ffmpeg-0.4.8_1 and bktr capture (FreeBSD 5.1-RELEASE-p11) X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 09 Dec 2003 21:36:51 -0000 On Tue, 9 Dec 2003 13:12:50 -0500 (EST) Fernando Durango wrote: FD> Now, when I capture using a script based on Steve O'Hara-Smith vcr, FD> ffmpeg dumps core when it finishes: FD> frame= 375 q=14.0 size= 9446kB time=15.0 bitrate=5158.8kbits/s FD> ffmpeg in free(): error: page is already free I've seen this message before (every time I run ffmpeg) ... There is much less cluttered source in bktrjpeg.c and in simple_grab.c, I've deleted my copies but they were easy enough to find in the first place. There is also bsdbktr_tvtune.c on ftp.sohara.org, which is probably very similar to your C code and which I have just used to confirm retention of tuning. -- C:>WIN | Directable Mirrors The computer obeys and wins. |A Better Way To Focus The Sun You lose and Bill collects. | licenses available - see: | http://www.sohara.org/ From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Dec 9 15:02:22 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E89A816A4CE for ; Tue, 9 Dec 2003 15:02:22 -0800 (PST) Received: from epa.secret.org (epa.secret.org [206.220.140.150]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B0EA843D29 for ; Tue, 9 Dec 2003 15:02:21 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from fernando@secret.org) Received: from localhost (fernando@localhost) by epa.secret.org (8.9.3/8.9.1) with ESMTP id SAA24264; Tue, 9 Dec 2003 18:02:19 -0500 (EST) Date: Tue, 9 Dec 2003 18:02:19 -0500 (EST) From: Fernando Durango To: "Steve O'Hara-Smith" In-Reply-To: <20031209223638.546079db.steve@sohara.org> Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII cc: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Subject: Re: ffmpeg-0.4.8_1 and bktr capture (FreeBSD 5.1-RELEASE-p11) X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 09 Dec 2003 23:02:23 -0000 On Tue, 9 Dec 2003, Steve O'Hara-Smith wrote: > On Tue, 9 Dec 2003 13:12:50 -0500 (EST) > Fernando Durango wrote: > > FD> Now, when I capture using a script based on Steve O'Hara-Smith vcr, > FD> ffmpeg dumps core when it finishes: > FD> frame= 375 q=14.0 size= 9446kB time=15.0 bitrate=5158.8kbits/s > FD> ffmpeg in free(): error: page is already free > > I've seen this message before (every time I run ffmpeg) ... > > FD> Abort trap (core dumped) > > ... but no core dump - but then I haven't built the latest port. > > Does it make a good recording ? Recording seems fine as far as I can tell, I do not visibly see any bad or mangled frames.. I am guessing the code is just trying to free() something that has already been free()d. > FD> Lastly, I threw together some C code to set the tuner channel before > FD> firing off ffmpeg, but it seems that ffmpeg resets the channel, even > FD> tho I have not specified BKTR_FREQUENCY. Interesting, I will have to poke at my code a bit, as well as track down bktrjpeg.c and simple_grab.c. Also, John Wehle recently posted code for the WinTV-PVR, how much work would be required to get it working on 5.1-RELEASE? -F From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Dec 9 15:10:26 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3557016A4CE for ; Tue, 9 Dec 2003 15:10:26 -0800 (PST) Received: from spurv.fa-s.ntnu.no (spurv.fa-s.ntnu.no [129.241.43.212]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CEC1343D13 for ; Tue, 9 Dec 2003 15:10:23 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from thul@yazzy.org) Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by spurv.fa-s.ntnu.no (Postfix) with ESMTP id 040E23BE4 for ; Wed, 10 Dec 2003 00:12:08 +0100 (CET) Received: from spurv.fa-s.ntnu.no ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (spurv.fa-s.ntnu.no [127.0.0.1:10024]) (amavisd-new) with SMTP id 18682-09 for ; Wed, 10 Dec 2003 00:11:50 +0100 (CET) Received: by spurv.fa-s.ntnu.no (Postfix, from userid 80) id 15A7A3E09; Wed, 10 Dec 2003 00:11:50 +0100 (CET) Received: from 129.240.114.218 (SquirrelMail authenticated user thul) by gorset.no with HTTP; Wed, 10 Dec 2003 00:11:49 +0100 (CET) Message-ID: <49230.129.240.114.218.1071011509.squirrel@gorset.no> Date: Wed, 10 Dec 2003 00:11:49 +0100 (CET) From: "Ulrik F.
