I've done quite a bit of digging around and have found only a few "dated" references indicating that it would not be recommended to enable threading support for bind 9 (breaks the -u opt. etc). Is this still the case for bind 9.2.2? I running an SMP enabled 4.7 box (Dual PIII - Intel MOBO). Please reply to me directly (or CC me), I'm not a member of this list. Thanks for your time. If you´re not ready to jump on the 5.x bandwagon, 5.2 should be a safe bet. Yes, I see what you mean. If it is isolated to MD functions like kcb_critical_enter() I would either use the atomic_ functions, or add the memory barrier directly to those functions. Hopefully, we can keep MI parts free of memory barriers. -- Dan Eischen From owner-freebsd-threads@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Sep 27 10:36:58 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-threads@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BAAC116A4B3 for ; Sat, 27 Sep 2003 10:36:58 -0700 (PDT) Received: from student.uci.agh.edu.pl (student.uci.agh.edu.pl [149.156.98.60]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EE5AC43FE9 for ; Sat, 27 Sep 2003 10:36:57 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from winfried@student.uci.agh.edu.pl) Received: by student.uci.agh.edu.pl (Postfix, from userid 25828) id 38E736464F; Sat, 27 Sep 2003 19:36:53 +0200 (CEST) Date: Sat, 27 Sep 2003 19:36:53 +0200 From: Jan Srzednicki To: David Xu Message-ID: <20030927173653.GC3178@student.agh.edu.pl> References: <20030827202009.GA44225@piggie> <20030828092703.GB1222@slurp.rodal.no> <3F724196.20702@viatech.com.cn> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <3F724196.20702@viatech.com.cn> User-Agent: Mutt/1.4i cc: freebsd-threads@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Call for thread testers: XMMS X-BeenThere: freebsd-threads@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list Reply-To: w@dream.vg List-Id: Threading on FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 27 Sep 2003 17:36:58 -0000 On Thu, Sep 25, 2003 at 09:15:02AM +0800, David Xu wrote: > Morten Rodal wrote: > > >I have tried to run xmms with libkse on both a SMP (Dual P2 300MHz) > >and on my laptop (P4 1.7GHz). I was also experiencing that stuff with -lkse (however, it worked fine with -lthr). It is gone and xmms with KSE works fine. -- -- wrzask --= v =-- Winfried --===-- GG# 3838383 --- -- w@dream.vg --- w@303.krakow.pl --===-- http://violent.dream.vg/ --- --=< Ride the wild wind - push the envelope, don't sit on the fence, --- -- Ride the wild wind - live life on the razor's edge! >=-- Queen --
