Hi,
It seems that fxp driver panics sparc64 system when executing
downloaded microcode. The following patch fixes the panic.
It would be appriciated if interested users could apply
the patch, download microcode and try to pass packets on fxp.
Thanks.

Ok, I had RC2 running on my Ultra2 (which is supported, whee!) Here are
a couple of gripes, I've got the newest src/, and i've been following
everything with 'how you're supposed to do it' and i'm to `make
installworld` EXCEPT, it gets angry at me :-P
During 'Installing Everything ...' it starts in "include" and goes:
creating osreldate.h from newvers.sh
touch: not found
*** Error code: 127
${OTHERMSGS}
And fails, I'm at a loss for explaination since touch shows up in
$PATH... I'm confused :P
Second gripe, I have a Sun 15" Monitor, and a Type 5 keyboard, which I
prefer to use over my crappy 166Mhz xterminal/laptop, the input into
this same box feels like it's at 300 baud, if I type to fast, or speedy
in any respect, it seems to lose characters, typing in 'make
installworld' comes out as "meinsalwl" Given that 'a', 'e', and 'i'
showed up, I think I can rule out the infamous "Beastie vowel bug" (ok,
I made it up, but that'd be one comical bug)
Is this something to do with the driver involved in keyboard i/o or
what? NetBSD doesnt have this prob...nevermind ;)

I noticed that the german version of the sparc.sgml page is _very_ out
of date, I'm not sure how many people on this list speak fluent german
(mine is the result of a year in Dresden, no Ossie comments please ;))
but can somebody commit this, I'm 95% certain it's wholly correct.
I think the german speakers should know about the recent developments
with the sparc64 port ;)

Oh, too bad we didn't meet over here then.

I'll have a look over it. Sounds good so far.
I simply thought the various translations into other languages than
English were handled by translation teams anyway.

Cool, it's been a year, my writing skills are still decent ;)

I thought so too, looking at the CVS log in CVS-Web, the latest commits
for that particular file were just some $Id$ induced changes from the
German Documentation team.
Oh well, I'll gladly keep it relatively up to date ;) (not that the
sparc64 port moves that fast though :-P)

I've seen that before where /tmp (I think, it may have been /var) was mounted
non-exec (and non-suid).

I know how to mount a partition to where it has the options noexec and
nosuid are enabled, but I don't know if you can verbosely disable
them....can I?

Howdy folks,
For the past few days I've been trying to update my Ultra5 (tag=.). It's
died about 2 hours in on multiple build attempts (re-cvsup'ing between
them, just in case).

I noticed an email from Scott Long on Friday about tinderbox failures
for sparc64 ... perhaps that's related.
I've tried a few buildworlds to test it, re-cvsup'ing between each run.
I've also tried wiping my src tree and pulling it down completely fresh
on the off chance that something was confusign cvsup. It's a slow
machine to compile on, so it takes me quite some time between each cvsup
to see if anything has been fixed ;-)
Anyway, I was hoping to hear either that the build for sparc64 is known
to be broken or that it's known to be working. Once I know that it
is/isn't working for other sparc64 folks, I know in which direction to
start troubleshooting.

As far as I'm aware the default is exec and suid.

This can also happen when your clock is incorrect, or has a major step
backwards during the buildworld.

Alright, I gave it a try, but no dice, I think i'll reinstall FreeBSD
onto it, the RC2, and start this upgrading from source process all over
again, making sure I didn't make any mistakes :-P

That's truly odd -- several cvsup's didn't catch that, nor did wiping
/usr/src and pulling it down "fresh".
But when I did a simple cvsup this morning, on the off chance that it
was a general problem that somebody had fixed, and started Yet Another
Build, it Just Worked.

gcc will generate calls to _Qp_cmp when doing some long-double math
operations. I don't know exactly what C code triggers it, but pike 7.6
configured with --with-long-double-precisionfails to link because it
can't find _Qp_cmp.
>How-To-Repeat:
I'm reporting this secondhand, but downloading
http://pike.ida.liu.se/pub/pike/latest-stable/Pike-v7.6.24.tar.gz and
running "make CONFIGUREARGS=--with-long-double-precision" should be
enough to trigger it.
>Fix:
Add _Qp_cmp support to /usr/src/lib/libc/sparc64/fpu/fpu_qp.c . NetBSD
has working code (although a different way of going about it) at
http://cvsweb.netbsd.org/bsdweb.cgi/src/lib/libc/arch/sparc64/softfloat/qp.c
, and the official description of the function is at
http://www.sparc.com/standards/SCD.2.4.1.ps (although I can't seem to
get to it right now)

I have a Sun Fire V100. FreeBSD 5.3 works perfectly on it but whe it boots
it says it can't find an internal clock and the time wouldn't be set
correctly. Does this mean that the system doesn't have an internal clock
or should I just use ntp or somthing?
Matt

Would be great if you could give it a try and report failure or success
and the requested debugging info as there was no feedback so far.

Machine in a dual CPU E250 running FreeBSD 5.2.1 CURRENT-64BTT #1. Did
a cvsup with tag of RELENG_5_3, which seemed to execute without any
problems. Proceeded to 'make buildworld' and this is the end of the
process:

I am confused as to how to proceed. I re-cvsupped the whole thing after
deleting /usr/src, /usr/obj, /usr/sup, and it still bombs. Any
thoughts?
