Is this also not concern given there is no conflict or should different uniquenames be specified (imake-4 and imake-6)? Sorry to ask a simple question, but how does one apply the .diff file and then update Xorg 6.7.0 to Xorg 6.8.2? I have already tried to patch /usr/ports/devel/imake-6/Makefile, but I get some errors (Hunk #1 failed at 511, Hunk #2 failed at 754). What do you run once this is done? Sorry to ask a simple question, but how does one apply the .diff file and then update Xorg 6.7.0 to Xorg 6.8.2? I have already tried to patch /usr/ports/devel/imake-6/Makefile, but I get some errors (Hunk #1 failed at 511, Hunk #2 failed at 754). What do you run once this is done? > > Any help would be really appreciated... > > Thanks in Advance. > The patch updates the 6.8.1 port Makefiles, pkg-plists, etc.. to 6.8.2.. so you must update your ports tree first. Please read http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ports-using.html Once you have that down.. you can apply the patch by doing the following: cd /usr/ports && patch < /path/to/xorg-682.diff Then you should be able to portupgrade xorg. Welcome to FreeBSD then :) If you are new at this, you might want to wait a bit until this is commited so you can upgrade with usual means - updating your ports tree with cvsup (see Handbook about doing that: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ports-using.html) and perhaps using portupgrade port (sysutils/portupgrade) to upgrade ports. X.Org ports are already at 6.8.1 now, so that is why the patch won't apply (it applies to current state of ports tree) - so even if you would want to apply the patch, you would still need to update your ports tree to get all the changes since the FreeBSD release which you installed. I hope this helps a bit :) Dejan From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Mar 1 02:41:38 2005 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B969916A4D3 for ; Tue, 1 Mar 2005 02:41:38 +0000 (GMT) Received: from wproxy.gmail.com (wproxy.gmail.com [64.233.184.204]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A09EF43D55 for ; Tue, 1 Mar 2005 02:41:33 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from sureshnaidu.chaganti@gmail.com) Received: by wproxy.gmail.com with SMTP id 69so970694wri for ; Mon, 28 Feb 2005 18:41:33 -0800 (PST) DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; q=dns; c=nofws; s=beta; d=gmail.com; h=received:message-id:date:from:reply-to:to:subject:in-reply-to:mime-version:content-type:content-transfer-encoding:references; b=FiH2a0eKXY9s8t5rLgfs1NvTd8mPYP4W7WDsNvXeeviy1Fh517cT95MewOdglnJfF+KRdn825BCa5/6+PttnQBLiSk42WE91UfP0PGhxbtBuvEkE4JBG2qqTU/r5bhUbq+zTerxzd/alRoS40nVEH5BqGsXS646w3Q60CvqHmlA= Received: by 10.54.54.49 with SMTP id c49mr103946wra; Mon, 28 Feb 2005 18:41:32 -0800 (PST) Received: by 10.54.42.66 with HTTP; Mon, 28 Feb 2005 18:41:31 -0800 (PST) Message-ID: Date: Tue, 1 Mar 2005 10:41:31 +0800 From: Suresh Naidu To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org, nxdevelopers@nomachine.com, nxusers@nomachine.com, nxannounce@nomachine.com, freebsd-arch@freebsd.org, freebsd-questions@freebsd.org, freebsd-stable@freebsd.org, freebsd-test@freebsd.org, freebsd-testing@freebsd.org In-Reply-To: Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit References: Subject: (Help Me!) Thanks! It seems a nicer patch has been added to the bugzilla entry, do things still work OK with that changed patch? Also, this seems the problem from PR ports/74757 (http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=ports/74757) - could you please rather follow up on that PR if the problem is indeed the same (that way, the PR originator would be also CCed and could confirm if the patch fixes the problem on his hardware also). I'm not very fond of the gnats interface either, when I try to use my email client to submit something to it, things always seems to go very wrong. Somebody else feel free to do it though, personally I'm happy as long as this works on my system, just letting the rest of you know. I'll also drop a notice if the new patch works or not. -- - Anders Nor Berle From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Mar 4 05:34:51 2005 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4A6D116A4CE for ; Fri, 4 Mar 2005 05:34:51 +0000 (GMT) Received: from niobe.ijs.si (mail.ijs.si [193.2.4.66]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F0FE543D1F for ; Fri, 4 Mar 2005 05:34:50 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from dejan.lesjak@ijs.si) Received: from localhost (localhost [IPv6:::1]) by niobe.ijs.si (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2DF671DD544; Fri, 4 Mar 2005 06:34:50 +0100 (CET) Received: from niobe.ijs.si ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (niobe.ijs.si [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with LMTP id 23540-01-88; Fri, 4 Mar 2005 06:34:41 +0100 (CET) Received: from metatron.ijs.si (metatron.ijs.si [193.2.4.152]) by niobe.ijs.si (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9036D1DD65A; Fri, 4 Mar 2005 06:34:41 +0100 (CET) Received: from idefix.ijs.si (idefix.ijs.si [193.2.4.33]) (using TLSv1 with cipher RC4-MD5 (128/128 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by metatron.ijs.si (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1E7E21C00731; Fri, 4 Mar 2005 06:34:41 +0100 (CET) From: Dejan Lesjak To: Anders Nor Berle Date: Fri, 4 Mar 2005 06:34:40 +0100 User-Agent: KMail/1.7.2 References: <200503040622.02012.dejan.lesjak@ijs.si> In-Reply-To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Message-Id: <200503040634.40581.dejan.lesjak@ijs.si> X-Virus-Scanned: amavisd-new at ijs.si cc: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Xorg and XFree86 4.4 problem with HP D530 resolved X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 04 Mar 2005 05:34:51 -0000 On Friday 04 of March 2005 06:29, Anders Nor Berle wrote: > Haven't had a chance to try with the new patch yet. I have been following the thread and desperately trying to get back my original workstation to check whether the patch indeed fixes the problem. However, I have not been able to get access to the workstation. In the light of things, please consider the bug fixed. Sorry for being of no help! Thanks! -- http://shankerbalan.net/
