In many cases these ports are failing to compile on some subset of the FreeBSD build environments. The most common problem is that recent versions of -CURRENT include gcc3.4, which is much stricter about such things as function declarations, literal strings constants that continue over several physical lines, and forcing the deprecation of antique header files such as varargs.h (we should now be using stdargs.h). The next most common problem is that compiles succeed on the i386 architecture (e.g. the common Intel PC), but fail on one or more of the other architectures due to assumptions about things such as size of various types, byte-alignment issues, and so forth. In occasional cases we see that the same port may have different errors in different build environments. The script that runs on the build cluster uses heuristics to try to 'guess' the error type to help you isolate problems, but it is only a rough guide. If you need help in one or more build environments that you do not have access to, please ask for help on the freebsd-ports mailing list. One more note: on occasion, there are transient build errors seen on the build farm. Unfortunately, there is not yet any way for this algorithm to tell the difference (humans are much, much better at this kind of thing.) The errors are listed below. In the case where the same problem exists on more than one build environment, the URL points to the latest errorlog for that type. (By 'build environment' here we mean 'combination of 4.x/5.x/6.x with target architecture'.) (Note: the dates are included to help you to gauge whether or not the error still applies to the latest version. The program that generates this report is not yet able to determine this automatically.) portname: editors/ooodict-all broken because: Size mismatch build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=editors&portname=ooodict-all If these errors are ones that you are already aware of, please accept our apologies and ignore this message. On the other hand, if you no longer wish to maintain this port (or ports), please reply with a message stating that, and accept our thanks for your efforts in the past. Every effort has been made to make sure that these error reports really do correspond to a port that you maintain. However, due to the fact that this is an automated process, it may indeed generate false matches. If one of these errors fits that description, please forward this email to the author of this software, Mark Linimon , so that he can attempt to fix the problem in the future. Thanks for your efforts to help improve FreeBSD. Too me Okay, but the pkg-version output is annoying. Why the 2.0.4 canditate is allready in editors/openoffice.org-2.0? Shouldn't it be in editors/openoffice.org-2.0-devel? The openoffice-2.0-devel= =20 port is based on the latest OO source tree. This means that it's pointing=20 towards 2.1. Since the source is always changing (in development), it would= =20 not be a good release candidate (for testing) prior to a 2.0.X release. In simpler words, the RC are correctly put in openoffice-2.0 so that people= =20 (like me) can test and point out the problems of a frozen code tree (or=20 release candidate) prior to the release of 2.0.X, contrary to -devel which = is=20 always in development. It was tested by Jung-uk Kim' regression test. Also, adopted patch (for STABLE) was tested with KDE (opening https:// sites) and OpenOffice 2.0.3. The latter was simply run and several documents of different types where opended. I have no resources to rebuild the beast myself. Konqueror issued a lot of warning for undefined symbols (like kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: Undefined symbol "OPENSSL_add_all_algorithms" ), but it does it with both patched and non-patched rtld on 6-STABLE. In both cases it worked normally, allowed to open the sites, and I see no excessive VM usage (I assume 30-40Mb is normal for it). Original patch (committed as rev. 1.117) scanned objects from the obj->dagmembers list for symbol retrieved by dlsym(). This appeared to be wrong by two reasons: 1. dagmembers are initialized only when dlopen actually load the dso. This caused the second test from Jung-uk Kim' regression set to fail, because it dlopen() depended dso and tries to lookup symbol from there. 2. In the case dso A depends on B and C, usage of dagmembers would cause B to expose symbols from C, that is wrong too. Attached patch uses obj->needed, that is filled for each dso, and is a real DAG instead of list. Patch (hopefully) implements SUSv3-required breadth-fi= rst lookup for dependent symbols. Please, give it a try. You specified WITH_GNUGCJ, this is the reason for the brekage. javac at /usr/local/lib/jvm/java-gcj41/bin/ is actually ecj for you. Somehow, ecj doesn't find bootstrappath as /usr/local/share/java/libgcj-4.1.2.jar so java.lang.Object cannot be resolved. IIRC, I verified that older version of gcc-4.1, but recent version even sun.boot.path seems to be empty. Recently gcc-* other than gcc-ooo port install libgcc_s.so and other shared libs. Since OOo for AMD64 must be compiled with gcc41, we must add this as well. (Or we should include libgcc_so.so in OOo ports like GNU/Linux version which is broken for FBSD at the moment). Older gcc ports install libgcc_s.a and static ones only. Then problem doesn't appear. thanks, -- NAKATA, Maho (maho@FreeBSD.org) From owner-freebsd-openoffice@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Sep 19 00:59:15 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6F63E16A47B for ; Tue, 19 Sep 2006 00:59:15 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from maho.nakata@gmail.com) Received: from py-out-1112.google.com (py-out-1112.google.com [64.233.166.181]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4BBAB43D55 for ; Tue, 19 Sep 2006 00:59:14 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from maho.nakata@gmail.com) Received: by py-out-1112.google.com with SMTP id o67so5171697pye for ; Mon, 18 Sep 2006 17:59:13 -0700 (PDT) DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; q=dns; c=nofws; s=beta; d=gmail.com; h=received:date:message-id:to:cc:subject:from:in-reply-to:references:x-mailer:mime-version:content-type:content-transfer-encoding:sender; b=j5XGfvEIhc6rmFVYnHQ8NP1BEi322S5mpCnl0dg3rnp+RzCcJ8V88GOMCVTXpMNTR042nlQM/dueU34KeT+2l744RfMyhAJVdCmGeJqnNGWwXrytkUsFdOKY3gf07vv/Lx9JwT7ujkgAADbS3dwRnX/hH0PIqLAQb0fONTfcvnk= Received: by 10.35.37.13 with SMTP id p13mr24901703pyj; Mon, 18 Sep 2006 17:59:13 -0700 (PDT) Received: from localhost ( [133.11.172.102]) by mx.gmail.com with ESMTP id 5sm1543708nzk.2006.09.18.17.59.11; Mon, 18 Sep 2006 17:59:13 -0700 (PDT) Date: Tue, 19 Sep 2006 09:59:09 +0900 (JST) Message-Id: <20060919.095909.02305897.chat95@mac.com> To: nb_root@videotron.ca From: NAKATA Maho In-Reply-To: <200609181524.13982.nb_root@videotron.ca> References: <20060918152717.GB31278@kan.dnsalias.net> <200609181130.35887.nb_root@videotron.ca> <200609181524.13982.nb_root@videotron.ca> X-Mailer: Mew version 5.1 on Emacs 21.3 / Mule 5.0 (SAKAKI) Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: Maho NAKATA Cc: kan@freebsd.org, kan@kan.dnsalias.net, freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org, h.blanke@chello.nl, kostikbel@gmail.com, jkim@freebsd.org Subject: Re: [patch] Re: OpenOffice.org-2.0.4rc1 compile problems on -CURRENT X-BeenThere: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting OpenOffice to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 19 Sep 2006 00:59:15 -0000 From: Nicolas Blais Subject: Re: [patch] Re: OpenOffice.org-2.0.4rc1 compile problems on -CURRENT Date: Mon, 18 Sep 2006 15:24:13 -0400 > 6 hours 28 later OpenOffice.org-2.0.4-RC2 with the patch to rtld.c was > successfully compiled and runs fine so far on -CURRENT. I recently re-installed my new laptop with 6.1 release. Then, I went through the upgrade to 7.0... buildworld all that fun.. after a bit of struggle.. ta-da.. I have it up and running.. and of course many of the packages core (I guess a library issue).. so I went through and removed and rebuilt everything .. now all was fine until I got to openoffice... :-0 I can build it but it blows up during config... turns out diablo-jdk15 seems to be the problem.. when I run java -version (like config does).. it core dumps.. In looking into that it appears to be a binary package that you get from the freeBSD software foundation... ok.. check there web site.. nothing for 7.0.. Now I tried using "Gnu Java".. but of course there is no port for that.. or does not seem to be :-0 I know in the past (before I had my new machine).. I had 7.0 running with open office... so what trick can I use to get it to build? should I build without Java.. and if so whats the magic key to makefile? It might be because you have SMP. Anyway, I always install the jdk14 port first - then it skips the diablo port and it builds fine for me (well with WITHOUT_MOZILLA set). I am not an expert, but the only thing I _know_ of that requires Java is the OpenDocument input/output filters. If you can live without those, Java becomes a no-op. 2) version of Java In /usr/ports/java, you will find diablo-jdk15 and jdk15. _As I understand it_ the difference is diablo is the offical, certified-by-Sun version. Non-diablo is the same general code-base without Sun's blessing and works fine for OOo purposes. In fact, I believe it works better. As has been mentioned, issues were been discovered with diable-jdk15 soon after its release; jdk15 seems not to have those problems. Check with java@ for more information. 2a) The good news: having installed diablo, one can use it to build the non-diablo port. It'll take a while, even on a fast machine, but it will work. The build and install completed successfully as far as I can tell -- there were no obvious errors during either process. However, when I go to run "openoffice.org" it prints: I18N: Operating system doesn't support locale "en_US" and returns to the prompt. I don't have any odd I18N environment settings (nothing matching *LOC*, *LANG*, or *LC* in the environment), and I didn't pass any specific options when building the port, I just ran "make install". Google hasn't helped, and I've checked the last couple of months of this lists archives to see if anyone else has mentioned it. I can't see anything, and the OO FAQ doesn't cover this anywhere. Can anyone assist? As such, this study has a powerful unifying potential. Systems theories are applied in engineering and operational research, in neurology and in oncology. They develop a number of very important concepts (system, subsystem, state, frontier environment, structure, complexity, eq uilibrium, stability, norm, model). We propose to investigate carefully the different meanings of these terms, in their application to various regions of reality. The status of system theory itself deserves attention (a useful vocabulary or a set of principles and theorems that have exploratory value). Is reality, considered as a whole, a system, and can its different sub-regions be characterised by the type of systematicity they favour? It appears to happen on all of them. (We have 7.) All are running FreeBSD 6-Stable updated at various times over the past few months. If the X display is local (:0.0) I execute OpenOffice.org (V2.0.1, 2.0.2,2.0.3, or either 2.0.4 release candidate), after a 2 or 3 seconds, it silently exits and I get a new shell prompt. If the display is remote via an ssh tunnel (e.g. localhost:10.0), it works fine. It smells like a race condition, but I am baffled. I have been trying to look at it with truss when I get a bit of time, but I have not gotten too far to this point. I can say that it does make it through the shell scripts and into the binary. Any ideas on what is going on? I have received a message from one person at a different site who was seeing the same thing, but I have not followed up on his hardware/version. -- R. No other mods. Build time was about a day, give or take-the usual, but no big hairy with ULE scheduler. No problems. Tests came out good so far. I have one doc that has a lot of vector 'speech balloons' over a large raster graphic that never works on anything but original Word, but OOo did load and display it quite fast and got over half the speech balloons right! On normal docs it just works. I did get some inversion of images inserted as files that were created through Xsane/Gimp, but I fixed that through use of the gfx filter. It was probably a format issue. Internal scanning dialogue worked fine. None of the docs I ran through it caused any failures. I have docs going back - well, at least to the Word bundled with Windows 95. That would also be a German version because I lived in Germany back then. I also have used other versions of Word also up to Mac OS and Word 2003. Looking good! Thanks for the good work. BTW, might there be a call for integrating with Gnome menus and mime types? I like Gnome because it's easier on my eyes than KDE. I am partially blind and eye stress reduction is important. Right now I do the configuration via the Gnome menu editor and manual settings of icons, targets via the desktop files under ~/.local. I have no great understanding of how that's done, but I wouldn't mind looking at ports that do such integration and see if I couldn't hack something together (e.g. Gimp, Dia, etc.) I think that the menu stuff is probably going to be basic and the mime types less so. Don't call me much more than a power noob with a rusty CS degree, but maybe I could float something out on the list that others could perfect? FYI: for the "-x" option this works 1) editors/openoffice.org 2) de-openoffice.org The fullname doas not work, because the new OOo has a newer version number. The full name is "de-openoffice.org-2.0.3". Heino
