I thought I have already sent this message but it does not seem to have arrived. Please forgive me otherwise. I have just done "portupgrade -av", which has upgraded openoffice.org to openoffice.org-2.0.4.rc3 (options: WITH_CUPS=3Dyes). When launching it with the command " openoffice.org" I get the startup screen with the progression bar; at about 25% it disappears with "Segmentation fault". "uname -a" gives: FreeBSD fermat.math.uvsq.fr 5.4-RELEASE FreeBSD 5.4-RELEASE #14: Tue Apr 18 23:19:16 CEST 2006 root@fermat.math.uvsq.fr:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/FERMAT= 2 i386 I also have openoffice.org-1.1.5 which works fine. Thanks in advance for your help. What I meant is that LD_LIBRARY_PATH is not set automatically when running a UNO application written in Java that needs to bootstrap OpenOffice.org. Since soffice would only be run at this point (at bootstrap), the JVM will never even be able to find soffice in /usr/local/openoffice-***/program, because this entry would only be added to LD_LIBRARY_PATH by soffice itself (and this is circular). This is why I was suggesting to update system-wide LD_LIBRARY_PATH. But if this is considered too intrusive, then perhaps install a symlink to soffice in /usr/local/lib (libexec?). -- Mihnea Capraru From owner-freebsd-openoffice@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Oct 3 08:33:26 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: openoffice@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-openoffice@FreeBSD.ORG Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8471516A417 for ; Tue, 3 Oct 2006 08:33:26 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from maho.nakata@gmail.com) Received: from py-out-1112.google.com (py-out-1112.google.com [64.233.166.179]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BF62343D4C for ; Tue, 3 Oct 2006 08:33:25 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from maho.nakata@gmail.com) Received: by py-out-1112.google.com with SMTP id o67so2760003pye for ; Tue, 03 Oct 2006 01:33:25 -0700 (PDT) DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; q=dns; c=nofws; s=beta; d=gmail.com; h=received:date:message-id:to:cc:subject:from:in-reply-to:references:x-mailer:mime-version:content-type:content-transfer-encoding:sender; b=Fs0RqfA0AA6km4xiQ5JTLksHJR+WPvyqwzGSR8zQMFJjj4THl6Xu3cE873ZZwZs1hxZkBXvV6UA6Tbk9MRt5ckz7krr1BjnNcUDVADLoc4iYAGZQgxx4G8KCXkBybquksWiLeVtmvVMcA0OZEaFAlOSdgITU8NvL6mXyQzApKI4= Received: by 10.35.37.13 with SMTP id p13mr9409443pyj; Tue, 03 Oct 2006 01:33:24 -0700 (PDT) Received: from localhost ( [133.11.172.102]) by mx.gmail.com with ESMTP id 10sm957699nzo.2006.10.03.01.33.22; Tue, 03 Oct 2006 01:33:24 -0700 (PDT) Date: Tue, 03 Oct 2006 17:33:03 +0900 (JST) Message-Id: <20061003.173303.32717938.chat95@mac.com> To: mihnea_capraru@fastmail.fm From: NAKATA Maho In-Reply-To: <200610030655.48573.mihnea_capraru@fastmail.fm> References: <200610021051.k92ApQTL099708@freefall.freebsd.org> <20061003.094837.118629176.chat95@mac.com> <200610030655.48573.mihnea_capraru@fastmail.fm> X-Mailer: Mew version 5.1 on Emacs 21.3 / Mule 5.0 (SAKAKI) Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: Maho NAKATA Cc: freebsd-ports-bugs@freebsd.org, openoffice@freebsd.org Subject: Re: ports/103896: OO.o port should add /program to LD_LIBRARY_PATH X-BeenThere: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting OpenOffice to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 03 Oct 2006 08:33:26 -0000 From: Mihnea Capraru Subject: Re: ports/103896: OO.o port should add /program to LD_LIBRARY_PATH Date: Tue, 03 Oct 2006 06:55:48 +0000 > Right. Such patch (simply adding globally LD_LIBRARY_PATH) will never be integrated. And I think if we use $ORIGIN, such kind of problem will disapper. Currently we are working at this implementation. Yes, I know that currently it is not supported, and I'm working with Konstantin. I proposed a PR a year before http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=88117 and he is interested in. He kindly implemented it with other `$' stuffs. > 2. If OO was built by GCC from ports, it will depend on libgcc_s.so.1, > we do not set LD_LIBRARY_PATH/rpath to help OO so find it at the moment. It doesn't apply for default i386 setting. We are using gcc-ooo, and we pass --disable-shared to configure. Thus no libgcc_s.so.1 etc. (For amd64, we still don't need it since ldconfig at boot time recognize them) thanks, -- NAKATA, Maho (maho@FreeBSD.org) From owner-freebsd-openoffice@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Oct 4 21:05:46 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6D8D216A531 for ; Wed, 4 Oct 2006 21:05:46 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from verbo.solo@sbcglobal.net) Received: from smtp108.plus.mail.re2.yahoo.com (smtp108.plus.mail.re2.yahoo.com [206.190.53.33]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with SMTP id E6D5943D6D for ; Wed, 4 Oct 2006 21:05:42 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from verbo.solo@sbcglobal.net) Received: (qmail 78334 invoked from network); 4 Oct 2006 21:05:42 -0000 DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; q=dns; c=nofws; s=s1024; d=sbcglobal.net; h=Received:Subject:From:To:Content-Type:Date:Message-Id:Mime-Version:X-Mailer:Content-Transfer-Encoding; b=vE51/nHdVh0U0zy/JUee7BsYxXLOzYZ33bMFEW31UW7ZnQCN23L+beF7o4jhfVJyTbT8HBZIM+j8Pl16/2Y7S7rZrxzlR2sGWdkHNPS5J/YiRWNw7UcRpuOQxJ2usA/Rry7Vb7TB9lHCC6WE+zq+8aXHet5QEa+qpMFLwluPHVE= ; Received: from unknown (HELO elbereth.gateway.2wire.net) (verbo.solo@sbcglobal.net@69.152.90.113 with plain) by smtp108.plus.mail.re2.yahoo.com with SMTP; 4 Oct 2006 21:05:41 -0000 From: "Charles P. No surprises, no questions, no strange behavior. Thanks for the effort. But there is this: Clipboard does not seem to interoperate between QT apps and OpenOffice. I am running GNOME 2.14.3, no KDE. Popup menus like numbering/bullets cause total loss of focus where neither base window nor popup is selected. Workaround is to dock the popup toolbar, e.g., at the bottom.
