The ural(4) man page does have a list of supported devices. The same does the axe(4) man page, but you probably already know that. Using 'apropos usb ethernet' I found a few other man pages: aue(4), cue(4), kue(4), rue(4), udav(4). Note: I haven't tested any of these drivers, so I don't know how good they are. I now understand that this is new hardware although I did not at the time of my post. I have been reading the OpenBSD axe driver which apparently has included support for these devices for over a year now according to the CVS log. I am not in fact using a rack-mounted system. I do expect the device to pass traffic at about 100MBit. Forgive my ignorance, but are you saying I can run multiple vlans over the same interface? Later this week, I plan to check into the OS X driver. -Dan From owner-freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 18 11:04:56 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-usb@hub.freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CDA3116A407; Mon, 18 Dec 2006 11:04:56 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from remko@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [69.147.83.40]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 64DD243CA0; Mon, 18 Dec 2006 11:04:56 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from remko@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (remko@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id kBIB4uCB088877; Mon, 18 Dec 2006 11:04:56 GMT (envelope-from remko@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from remko@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id kBIB4uru088873; Mon, 18 Dec 2006 11:04:56 GMT (envelope-from remko) Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2006 11:04:56 GMT From: Remko Lodder Message-Id: <200612181104.kBIB4uru088873@freefall.freebsd.org> To: remko@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: usb/106861: [PATCH]: usbdevs update: Add product ACER Zeevo BT-500 Bluetooth USB Adapter X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD support for USB List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2006 11:04:56 -0000 Old Synopsis: usbdevs update: Add product ACER Zeevo BT-500 Bluetooth USB Adapter New Synopsis: [PATCH]: usbdevs update: Add product ACER Zeevo BT-500 Bluetooth USB Adapter Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-bugs->freebsd-usb Responsible-Changed-By: remko Responsible-Changed-When: Mon Dec 18 11:04:38 UTC 2006 Responsible-Changed-Why: Reassign to the USB team. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=106861 From owner-freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 18 11:09:03 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 71FEB16A54A for ; Mon, 18 Dec 2006 11:09:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [69.147.83.40]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E7B2B43CA7 for ; Mon, 18 Dec 2006 11:08:57 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (linimon@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4) with ESMTP id kBIB8lSN090093 for ; Mon, 18 Dec 2006 11:08:47 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from linimon@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.13.4/8.13.4/Submit) id kBIB8kJN090089 for freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org; Mon, 18 Dec 2006 11:08:46 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2006 11:08:46 GMT Message-Id: <200612181108.kBIB8kJN090089@freefall.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: freefall.freebsd.org: linimon set sender to owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org using -f From: FreeBSD bugmaster To: freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Current problem reports assigned to you X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD support for USB List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2006 11:09:03 -0000 Current FreeBSD problem reports Critical problems S Tracker Resp. Even if everthing performce ideally, you are limited. > Forgive my ignorance, but are you saying I can run multiple vlans over the > same interface? Yes - you have a physical base interface and configure virtual ones attached to that. This is used quite ofter and tested very well. See ifconfig manpage about VLAN configuration. But as I already said - you need a switch, which understands VLAN tags. You also need a physical interface which is capable of trasfering oversized Packets, VLAN_MTU feature listed in ifconfig -m. -- B.Walter http://www.bwct.de http://www.fizon.de bernd@bwct.de info@bwct.de support@fizon.de From owner-freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 18 17:38:01 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0301316A416 for ; Mon, 18 Dec 2006 17:38:01 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from peterjeremy@optushome.com.au) Received: from fallbackmx02.syd.optusnet.com.au (fallbackmx02.syd.optusnet.com.au [211.29.133.72]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 99B9243CAD for ; Mon, 18 Dec 2006 17:37:49 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from peterjeremy@optushome.com.au) Received: from mail05.syd.optusnet.com.au (mail05.syd.optusnet.com.au [211.29.132.186]) by fallbackmx02.syd.optusnet.com.au (8.12.11.20060308/8.12.11) with ESMTP id kBI68ae2007954 for ; Mon, 18 Dec 2006 17:08:36 +1100 Received: from turion.vk2pj.dyndns.org (c58-107-94-118.belrs4.nsw.optusnet.com.au [58.107.94.118]) by mail05.syd.optusnet.com.au (8.13.1/8.13.1) with ESMTP id kBI68PNf002414 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=NO); Mon, 18 Dec 2006 17:08:27 +1100 Received: from turion.vk2pj.dyndns.org (localhost.vk2pj.dyndns.org [127.0.0.1]) by turion.vk2pj.dyndns.org (8.13.8/8.13.8) with ESMTP id kBI68PqZ000947; Mon, 18 Dec 2006 17:08:25 +1100 (EST) (envelope-from peter@turion.vk2pj.dyndns.org) Received: (from peter@localhost) by turion.vk2pj.dyndns.org (8.13.8/8.13.8/Submit) id kBI68Pqm000946; Mon, 18 Dec 2006 17:08:25 +1100 (EST) (envelope-from peter) Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2006 17:08:25 +1100 From: Peter Jeremy To: dan@frohlich.net Message-ID: <20061218060825.GA819@turion.vk2pj.dyndns.org> References: <20061217154804.cba1fd5b.torfinn.ingolfsen@broadpark.no> <20061218012732.GL75351@cicely12.cicely.de> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="0F1p//8PRICkK4MW" Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: X-PGP-Key: http://members.optusnet.com.au/peterjeremy/pubkey.asc User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.13 (2006-08-11) Cc: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Ethernet problems X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD support for USB List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2006 17:38:01 -0000 --0F1p//8PRICkK4MW Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Please don't top-post. (actually it'll work via 2 different hubs that look same profile except for the paint job. It's not an unsurmountable problem, but weird & unexpected. Stick mouse will also work OK via a powered hub, (but that doesnt prove much - one could assume it's just a very greedy mouse drawing more than 0.5 Amp. Though usbdevs -v reports : low speed, power 100 mA, config 1, rev 0.01. I can make 2 guesses: - Those hubs from vndr=0x04f1 might have a `big' electrolytic capacitor smoothing the supply ? - Maybe the voltage levels of the signal from the mouse are rather lackse, & the computer direct is expecting more conformity to digital thresholds, whereas the hubs are more forgiving ? I can't think of any other reason ?
