B) some modern lang/gcc* based build(s)? C) a devel/llvm40 based build? D) an experimental system-clang-4 based build? Which of these even involve libcxxrt use in the code produced and which do not? Is libcxxrt common to all of the options? Note: (C) and (D) might be a problem for running the built code because clang targeting either 32-bit or 64-bit powerpc does not yet produce code that handles thrown C++ exceptions in a FreeBSD context: a program crash results (last I knew). Also: *) Variations that experiment with lib32 code under 64-bit FreeBSD? @) 32-bit FreeBSD vs. 64-bit FreeBSD? There are a lot of combinations overall. (Note: It may be days before I can get to such experiments and at the time I'll likely only have access to one PowerPC machine, a so-called "Quad-core" PowerMac G5 [2 dual core processors]. It can run 32-bit FreeBSD as well though.) I'm guessing that Justin H. is testing (A) for 64-bit code on 64-bit powerpc64 FreeBSD. Off the top of my head I do not know if that involves libcxxrt for the produced code or not. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org Sun Jul 16 07:56:28 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ppc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C986BBF8BA9 for ; Sun, 16 Jul 2017 07:56:28 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [96.47.72.132]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "freefall.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 9DB1370DC4 for ; Sun, 16 Jul 2017 07:56:28 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by freefall.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 002C93CB5; Sun, 16 Jul 2017 07:56:28 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: freebsd-powerpc@localmail.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "mx1.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by freefall.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id E12103CB3 for ; Sun, 16 Jul 2017 07:56:27 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 318FC70DBE for ; Sun, 16 Jul 2017 07:56:27 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id v6G7uQa5091169 for ; Sun, 16 Jul 2017 07:56:27 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-powerpc@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 220714] devel/boost-all: Update to 1.65 (currently beta) Date: Sun, 16 Jul 2017 07:56:27 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Ports & Packages X-Bugzilla-Component: Individual Port(s) X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: patch X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: antoine@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: portmgr@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: maintainer-feedback? exp-run? This sounds like the problem I was investigating back in January. The freeze-instantly-with-black-screen behavior happens if you have a kernel built with debug options (the default for -CURRENT). If you build without, you get a hang or kernel trap after the message about cryptosoft0. For me, reverting r269278 made both problems go away. I don't know exactly what's wrong with that patch, and haven't gotten around to poking at it further than what's described in https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=216123 regards, tom lane From owner-freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org Sun Jul 16 19:03:09 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ppc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 94FBEC31B78 for ; Sun, 16 Jul 2017 19:03:09 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [96.47.72.132]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "freefall.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 68B6463482 for ; Sun, 16 Jul 2017 19:03:09 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by freefall.freebsd.org (Postfix) id C162DB254; Sun, 16 Jul 2017 19:03:08 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: freebsd-powerpc@localmail.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "mx1.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by freefall.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id AEA12B253 for ; Sun, 16 Jul 2017 19:03:08 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id AA8B56347F for ; Sun, 16 Jul 2017 19:03:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id v6GJ36Pb081291 for ; Sun, 16 Jul 2017 19:03:07 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-powerpc@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 220714] devel/boost-all: Update to 1.65 (currently beta) Date: Sun, 16 Jul 2017 19:03:06 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Ports & Packages X-Bugzilla-Component: Individual Port(s) X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: patch X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: jhibbits@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: portmgr@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: maintainer-feedback? exp-run?
