LinuxkPI adjustments) - resumed talks about vendor imports - exchanged emails with re@ in order to figure out how to efficiently do rebuilds so I can finally add firmware to the install media and test that. (this will allow us to purely distribute firmware from ports) - checked Intel cards in dedicated M.2 slots on an arm64 board and they showed the same problems as in my large test setup (see last week's email); so I know it is not related to that and will need investigation. - tried hrs' xHCI debug in the hpoe that we could get console on a modern Laptop without serial; managed to establish a connection from his binary-only loader component while testing with three laptops; screwed up one of my development laptops in the same go (almost recvered; I am still short a XHCI Root Hub which makes it painful to use currently). It is unclear how much effort is needed in order to make this useful. I'll keep plotting in the background but it likely won't be in time to debug suspend/resume for 14.1-R anymore :( - I am hoping to push the driver updates to github as soon as the general LinuxKPI changes are sorted. - PR handling and various direct emails and some packet loss (sorry). Lots of health, Bjoern -- Bjoern A. Zeeb AuthorDate: 2024-02-16 21:14:02 +0000 Commit: Bjoern A. Zeeb CommitDate: 2024-04-15 17:44:00 +0000 LinuxKPI: 802.11: disable early queue wakeup workaround; better classify We used to call lkpi_wake_tx_queues() for all queues early on in order to make sure they are ready. Turns out whatever logic in iwlwifi startup is working correctly these days under LinuxKPI so this is no longer needed. As the comment indicated the "workaround" did not always work. Disable it for now. The second part of the improvement is to properly classify Non-QOS non-data frames (mgmt and ctl frames for now, unless we have to be even more careful in the future about certain sub-types) as TID 7/VO. Contrary to net80211 we must not promote PAE frames. The "bz_wifi_drv_update" branch got a forced push in case you are tracking it. It now includes all drivers updated to Linux v6.8 and all but mt76 connected to the build (but no new ones working). In case you want to test an updated iwlwifi (incl. d3 compilable), rtw88, rtw89, or ath10k please do and let us know. It would help a lot for merging it into the tree. If you want to contribute to missing bits ofr ath11k/12k please also let us know and I can probably guide you. For mt76 I'll go and see if we can get the missing bits sorted to also enable that and then make progress. That change was lost in a rebase cleanup for the other changes. It will need further work as there's not only the classic suspend/resume path from the device driver in there but also the "WoWLan" suspend/resume path from the mac80211 level, which, at least for iwlwifi does the actual PCIe transition if I read the code correctly. FreeBSD has no notion of the latter (yet) as we would normally call ieee80211_suspend_all()/ieee80211_resume_all() from the device driver handler directly using our internal notion of the wireless device softc (ic) but even that will only stop/start things and not leave us with the actual call into D3 for LinuxKPI based drivers. In other words to my best knowledge nothing in FreeBSD supports WoWLan just yet and it is just another one thing that somehow needs to be prepared for. I'll look into at least the suspend/resume paths the next days and hopefully will find a way to hook it up to net80211 and LinuxKPI. > Lots of health, > Bjoern > > > [1] https://github.com/freebsd/wireless/tree/bz_wifi_drv_update > > -- Bjoern A. Please create a new ticket for this and email adrian@freebsd.org about it as this is a different problem than this. I have a feeling you require the bluetooth coexistence configured for your = NIC to work. (I'll go look at what sysctl to setup for that.) (The code to enable basic btcoex is in the driver, it's just not enabled by default. I really should go and finish adding that whitelist support.. :-) ) --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From nobody Fri Apr 19 15:17:26 2024 X-Original-To: wireless@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4VLdYM2c8sz5HD73 for ; Fri, 19 Apr 2024 15:17:27 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4VLdYM0PKfz4RGJ for ; Fri, 19 Apr 2024 15:17:27 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1713539847; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=kkRNVErxcAj9LQZD6ep/7WkZX+du2SsRcUjUFdSQjdshxdv9jnnTeC6Rqgtbs6UTd8SIjp tgk8tbsnyreYrAWJTGgv4+jMnxLZeCt1wbDCD0/np7/41gIzBmx1m7vJk7DmoM2nTX010i 432+wFtJpTQiXOXJ3ilnEHpdooRheePvBoofRCm1z4hYb76t3nYgOAgZCbDlbCfIDFTJfK +YWIARwAILeJvy+bLCJy6+NI/vA/kyVcRxqZyDqNw6nOyTS1sFe97AtRuOri1CnV3YXNqW MAGg8z27jPSfYRKJPZX4rB0pOVEqyISnI5NSC0Ng9sYGingMKWTPSSTbrepWTQ== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1713539847; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=cq+adkZOSYV95TNeNV9qkdLGLhXX7qNyTsLCEfsA2sQ=; b=Pw2X/Rg7P0ig9U19fueE5CejOTvJhK9zX+K5eOHqU7jmHbn/J8h8q1gedpENL7Ls6R1rU1 mmLoVoLldQOH8Mavemw+EVAq0muATkRomxweaiLLLHYcDwx7ihL9B6qG6T1Nzz8Yp5X29u 9Ij9n6l9+SgpW03zUiSBDduVZFTOxgk2cttajHkCDGmIA6+R2inM+YcVzAorhhpZe06lkZ Ijb50c7iYEVQGJev2SuOU5QAUTIfJdkoxEXenzyUw+5CzLPZqb2ssTRdiIhcTRyKZ4MCea q+INo3cKcVX2UMES9ZVdz14aC94vfUsc/g80WsZ5NtuMTRljKzyo8akUGeQpQg== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4VLdYL73Mqzy3Q for ; Fri, 19 Apr 2024 15:17:26 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 43JFHQ7T019461 for ; Fri, 19 Apr 2024 15:17:26 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 43JFHQe2019459 for wireless@FreeBSD.org; Fri, 19 Apr 2024 15:17:26 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: wireless@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 255337] ath(4): Atheros AR9462 identified correctly but does not function Date: Fri, 19 Apr 2024 15:17:26 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: wireless X-Bugzilla-Version: 13.0-RELEASE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: needs-qa X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: bz@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: Closed X-Bugzilla-Resolution: FIXED X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: bz@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: mfc-stable14+ mfc-stable13+ X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: Discussions List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-wireless List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-BeenThere: freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org Sender: owner-freebsd-wireless@FreeBSD.org MIME-Version: 1.0 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D255337 --- Comment #34 from Bjoern A. I had a talk with Hans in Vienna in 2022 about it about how to proceed. I ripped things apart and made it compile, but that disconnected the LinuxKPI from the actual USB stack and so far no one has done the works to finish this. I do have multiple USB rtw88 (and rtw89) sticks as well to test and keep importing the USB bits into FreeBSD, as I assumed they'll be the new "urun"/"urtwn" at some point. Let me know if you want to hack a bit on this and I'll go and find the old prototype. /bz -- Bjoern A.
