Hubbard" Sender: owner-announce@freebsd.org Precedence: bulk Emerging Technologies, Inc. today announces a new release of frame relay software for BSD/OS and FreeBSD operating systems. The new release implements a dynamic sub-interface technique that substantially increases the flexibility of the frame relay subsystem. The new release allows for the proper modeling of large scale networks with multiple logical networks per physical line, simplifying multi-homing and multiple default scenarios and the mixing of point-to-point and multi-point (meshed) networking models. Most importantly, the new sub-interface system provides the necessary interface for implementing complex routing protocols like BGP4 and OSPF with GateD on frame relay networks. Commercial GPM Modula-2 compilers are sold for a wide range of UNIX platforms. Front-ends have also been written for Oberon-2, C, and an experimental OO language called Luna. The GPM Modula-2 compilers for Linux, FreeBSD, DJGPP, EMX and MS-DOS are available freely by ftp. Oberon-2 compilers are also available for a number of the platforms. The latest FreeBSD version is yet another port of the Linux version of GPM. It is completely compatible with the Linux version in all respects. Refer to the Linux release notes for any version specific information. The compiler distributions have been placed into sub-directories by operating environment. The files in each sub-directory are prefixed by the language. Note that the GPM Oberon-2 distribution requires files from the Modula-2 compiler, so you'll need to down-load the modula- files as well for Oberon. They already have Linux drivers, but would like to have a presence in the FreeBSD community as well, partly because of the controlled release situation. If I weren't already too busy to sleep, I'd grab at least one of the styles to do myself. If you need more than 2-4 serial ports, Digi's can be great! I once worked for the parent company, more than 10 years ago before these products existed, but since then I've only been a happy customer. To express interest and for exact model numbers and details, please write to keng@digibd.com. You can reply to me, as well, but I'll simply forward the e-mail to him. I'm pretty sure that one of the models in question is the PC/Xe, which is a 16-port system with dual ribbon cables running from the ISA card to an external connection box. I have been administering a system for a customer for more than five years which has two of these boards in it, and other than damage due to lightning strikes, they've been trouble-free.
