This produces a lot more info which could be useful. In short, the kernel tries to activate the card by reading from the pnp_rd_port (which apparently is supposed to be globally valid). Your Dynalink failed the activation. It looks like the card is attempted supported, at least. I didn't read through what Hellmuth had done with the PnP code after I submitted it - it appears he has added support for a bunch more cards. However, unless the developers version has been tested with the card in PnP mode, I would be vary of expecting it to work. If the pnpinfo output Jon sent was correct (ie, included the complete information from his ISDN card - and I'm not sure his pruning was correct) then it will almost certainly _not_ work. > The Comp ID looks fubar. (Dynalink PNP probe) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This indicates that the card was not correctly probed and was therefore not even enabled. What would help were an output of pnpinfo and/or fiddling around with this card in userconfig (have the kernel compiled with "options USERCONFIG" and having read and understood the output of "man pnp" and booting with "-c"). The problem with the old method of integrating PnP cards is, that we rely completely on the BIOS to initialize the card as we want it in our probe routine. In case the BIOS does not do what we expect it to do, what you see now might occur. hellmuth -- Hellmuth Michaelis Tel +49 40 559747-70 HCS Hanseatischer Computerservice GmbH Fax +49 40 559747-77 Oldesloer Strasse 97-99 Mail hm [at] hcs.de 22457 Hamburg WWW http://www.hcs.de To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isdn Tue Dec 1 05:46:47 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id FAA28638 for freebsd-isdn-outgoing; Tue, 1 Dec 1998 05:46:47 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from imap.ncsa.es (imap.ncsa.es [194.179.50.6]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id FAA28618 for ; Tue, 1 Dec 1998 05:46:42 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from jesusr@ncsa.es) Received: from piolin.ncsa.es (rdsi224-90.ncsa.es [195.77.224.90]) by imap.ncsa.es (8.8.8/8.8.8) with SMTP id OAA28237 for ; Tue, 1 Dec 1998 14:46:31 +0100 (CET) Reply-To: "Jesus Rodriguez" From: "Jesus Rodriguez" To: Subject: Autodial delay Date: Tue, 1 Dec 1998 14:51:56 +0100 Message-ID: <01be1d31$c2411240$01000059@piolin.ncsa.es> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 4.71.1712.3 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V4.71.1712.3 Sender: owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Hello... After applying the patch modify your answer script ( I use the one called record), use 'isdntelctl -c' before the recording command. best Gabor Dolla Mezon.Net Ltd Budapest, Hungary ps: I'm working on the Siemens I-Talk driver but I must make a living too :) ---1782398720-1692340350-912598338=:984 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII; name=p Content-Transfer-Encoding: BASE64 Content-ID: Content-Description: Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=p LS0tIGRyaXZlci9pNGJfdGVsLmMJV2VkIERlYyAgMiAxMjoxMjozMyAxOTk4 DQorKysgZHJpdmVyL2k0Yl90ZWwuYy5vcmlnCVdlZCBEZWMgIDIgMTI6MTQ6 MzggMTk5OA0KQEAgLTI2Niw4ICsyNjYsNiBAQA0KICNlbmRpZg0KIHsNCiAJ aW50IGVycm9yID0gMDsNCi0gICAgICAgIHN0cnVjdCBtYnVmICptOw0KLSAg ICAgICAgaW50IHM7DQogCXRlbF9zY190ICpzYyA9ICZ0ZWxfc2NbbWlub3Io ZGV2KV07DQogDQogCXN3aXRjaChjbWQpDQpAQCAtMjc4LDE5ICsyNzYsNiBA QA0KIAkJDQogCQljYXNlIEk0Ql9URUxfU0VUQVVESU9GTVQ6DQogCQkJc2Mt PmF1ZGlvZm10ID0gKihpbnQgKilkYXRhOw0KLQkJCWJyZWFrOw0KLQ0KLQkJ Y2FzZSBJNEJfVEVMX0VNUFRZSU5QVVRRVUVVRToNCi0JCQlzID0gc3BsaW1w KCk7DQotCQkJd2hpbGUoKHNjLT5kZXZzdGF0ZSAmIFNUX0NPTk5FQ1RFRCkg JiYNCi0JCQkgIChzYy0+ZGV2c3RhdGUgJiBTVF9JU09QRU4pICYmDQotCQkJ ICAhSUZfUUVNUFRZKHNjLT5pc2RuX2xpbmt0YWItPnJ4X3F1ZXVlKSkNCi0J CQl7DQotCQkJICBJRl9ERVFVRVVFKHNjLT5pc2RuX2xpbmt0YWItPnJ4X3F1 ZXVlLCBtKTsNCi0JCQkgIGlmKG0pDQotCQkJICAgIGk0Yl9CZnJlZW1idWYo bSk7DQotCQkJfQ0KLQkJCXNwbHgocyk7DQogCQkJYnJlYWs7DQogDQogCQlk ZWZhdWx0Og0KLS0tIGlzZG50ZWxjdGwvbWFpbi5jCVdlZCBEZWMgIDIgMTE6 MzE6MDEgMTk5OA0KKysrIGlzZG50ZWxjdGwvbWFpbi5jLm9yaWcJV2VkIERl YyAgMiAxMjoxNTo0NyAxOTk4DQpAQCAtNjUsNyArNjUsNyBAQA0KIGludCBv cHRfdW5pdCA9IDA7DQogaW50IG9wdF9VID0gMDsNCiBpbnQgb3B0X0EgPSAw Ow0KLWludCBvcHRfQyA9IDA7DQorDQogDQogLyotLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0t LS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0t LS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0qDQogICoJcHJvZ3JhbSBlbnRyeQ0KQEAgLTc4LDE0 ICs3OCwxMCBAQA0KIAlpbnQgdGVsZmQ7DQogCWNoYXIgbmFtZWJ1ZmZlclsx MjhdOw0KIAkNCi0Jd2hpbGUgKChjID0gZ2V0b3B0KGFyZ2MsIGFyZ3YsICJj Z3U6QVU/IikpICE9IEVPRikNCisJd2hpbGUgKChjID0gZ2V0b3B0KGFyZ2Ms IGFyZ3YsICJndTpBVT8iKSkgIT0gRU9GKQ0KIAl7DQogCQlzd2l0Y2goYykN CiAJCXsNCi0JCQljYXNlICdjJzoNCi0JCQkJb3B0X0MgPSAxOw0KLQkJCQli cmVhazsNCi0NCiAJCQljYXNlICdnJzoNCiAJCQkJb3B0X2dldCA9IDE7DQog CQkJCWJyZWFrOw0KQEAgLTExMSwxMiArMTA3LDEyIEBADQogCQl9DQogCX0N CiANCi0JaWYob3B0X2dldCA9PSAwICYmIG9wdF9VID09IDAgJiYgb3B0X0Eg JiYgb3B0X0MgPT0gMCkNCisJaWYob3B0X2dldCA9PSAwICYmIG9wdF9VID09 IDAgJiYgb3B0X0EgPT0gMCkNCiAJew0KIAkJb3B0X2dldCA9IDE7DQogCX0N CiANCi0JaWYoKG9wdF9nZXQgKyBvcHRfVSArIG9wdF9BICsgb3B0X0MpID4g MSkNCisJaWYoKG9wdF9nZXQgKyBvcHRfVSArIG9wdF9BKSA+IDEpDQogCXsN CiAJCXVzYWdlKCk7DQogCX0NCkBAIC0xNzcsMTYgKzE3Myw2IEBADQogCQl9 DQogCQlleGl0KDApOw0KIAl9DQotCWlmKG9wdF9DKQ0KLQl7DQotCQlpbnQg ZHVtbXk7DQotCQlpZigocmV0ID0gaW9jdGwodGVsZmQsIEk0Ql9URUxfRU1Q VFlJTlBVVFFVRVVFLCAmZHVtbXkpKSA8IDApDQotCQl7DQotCQkJZnByaW50 ZihzdGRlcnIsICJpb2N0bCBJNEJfVEVMX0VNUFRZSU5QVVRRVUVVRSBmYWls ZWQ6ICVzIiwgc3RyZXJyb3IoZXJybm8pKTsNCi0JCQlleGl0KDEpOw0KLQkJ fQ0KLQkJZXhpdCgwKTsNCi0JfQ0KIAlyZXR1cm4oMCk7DQogfQ0KIAkNCkBA IC0yMDMsNyArMTg5LDYgQEANCiAJZnByaW50ZihzdGRlcnIsICIgICAgICAg LXUgdW5pdCAgICAgICBzcGVjaWZ5IHVuaXQgbnVtYmVyXG4iKTsJDQogCWZw cmludGYoc3RkZXJyLCAiICAgICAgIC1BICAgICAgICAgICAgc2V0IGludGVy ZmFjZSB0byBBLUxhdyBjb2RpbmdcbiIpOw0KIAlmcHJpbnRmKHN0ZGVyciwg IiAgICAgICAtVSAgICAgICAgICAgIHNldCBpbnRlcmZhY2UgdG8gdS1MYXcg Y29kaW5nXG4iKTsNCi0JZnByaW50ZihzdGRlcnIsICIgICAgICAgLWMgICAg ICAgICAgICBjbGVhciBpbnB1dCBxdWV1ZVxuIik7DQogCWZwcmludGYoc3Rk ZXJyLCAiXG4iKTsNCiAJZXhpdCgxKTsNCiB9DQotLS0gbWFjaGluZS9pNGJf dGVsX2lvY3RsLmgJV2VkIERlYyAgMiAxMToxMDo0NyAxOTk4DQorKysgbWFj aGluZS9pNGJfdGVsX2lvY3RsLmgub3JpZwlXZWQgRGVjICAyIDEyOjE3OjIz IDE5OTgNCkBAIC01NSw2ICs1NSw1IEBADQogDQogI2RlZmluZQlJNEJfVEVM X0dFVEFVRElPRk1UCV9JT1IoJ0EnLCAwLCBpbnQpDQogI2RlZmluZQlJNEJf VEVMX1NFVEFVRElPRk1UCV9JT1coJ0EnLCAxLCBpbnQpDQotI2RlZmluZQlJ NEJfVEVMX0VNUFRZSU5QVVRRVUVVRQlfSU9XKCdBJywgMiwgaW50KQ0KIA0K ICNlbmRpZiAvKiBfSTRCX1RFTF9JT0NUTF9IXyAqLw0K ---1782398720-1692340350-912598338=:984-- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isdn Wed Dec 2 04:07:52 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id EAA13314 for freebsd-isdn-outgoing; Wed, 2 Dec 1998 04:07:52 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from anduin.huygens.org (anduin.huygens.org [130.89.181.110]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id EAA13065 for ; Wed, 2 Dec 1998 04:07:12 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from dillema@huygens.org) Received: from michael.huygens.org (michael.huygens.org [130.89.181.124]) by anduin.huygens.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id NAA18002; Wed, 2 Dec 1998 13:04:42 +0100 Message-Id: <199812021204.NAA18002@anduin.huygens.org> X-Mailer: exmh version 2.0.2 2/24/98 To: "Martin Hein" cc: hm@hcs.de, Martin@rumolt.teuto.de, FreeBSD-ISDN@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: Antwort: Re: i4b a0.63 + NetBSD/i386 1.3.2 In-reply-to: Your message of "Wed, 02 Dec 1998 10:25:12 +0100." Right, so they should not even attach (I didn't write any matching isapnp entry). Is there any principal problem with this card or just not having a card available yet? Not that I would like to support companies like Teles in any way, now that there are quite a lot alternatives with very open-source friendly policies; just out of curiosity. > I have no idea about the error messages under NetBSD, Martin probably > can say more about them. Could you please tell me the exact kernel config line you used for your card? I'll try to reproduce this on a machine without a Teles card. This is most likely a false positive probe - which is quite unlikely, as the Teles 16.3 has an identification register. Anyway, even if the probe succeeds, the driver should not panic without a card. The "problem" with this card is, that they a) use a HFC chip instead of a HSCX (a [part of a] new driver has to be written) and b) that they reportedly don't run well under Linux since Teles in its infinite wisdom choosed to replace the recommended 32K ram chip (for the B-channel FIFOs) with an 8K one. hellmuth -- Hellmuth Michaelis Tel +49 40 559747-70 HCS Hanseatischer Computerservice GmbH Fax +49 40 559747-77 Oldesloer Strasse 97-99 Mail hm [at] hcs.de 22457 Hamburg WWW http://www.hcs.de To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isdn Fri Dec 4 02:54:46 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id CAA17623 for freebsd-isdn-outgoing; Fri, 4 Dec 1998 02:54:46 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from linteuto.teuto.de (linteuto.teuto.de [194.77.23.26]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id CAA17608 for ; Fri, 4 Dec 1998 02:54:03 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from martin@rumolt.teuto.de) Received: from rumolt.teuto.de (root@rumolt.teuto.de [212.8.203.81]) by linteuto.teuto.de (8.8.7/8.8.7) with ESMTP id LAA21608 for ; Fri, 4 Dec 1998 11:53:43 +0100 Received: (from martin@localhost) by rumolt.teuto.de (8.8.8/8.8.7) id LAA00832 for freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG; Fri, 4 Dec 1998 11:40:14 +0100 (MET) From: Martin Husemann Message-Id: <199812041040.LAA00832@rumolt.teuto.de> Subject: Sedlbauer P&P support for NetBSD To: freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG (ISDN Mailing List) Date: Fri, 4 Dec 1998 11:40:13 +0100 (MET) Organization: Crusaders Catering Services Inc. ;-) X-Mailer: ELM [version 2.4 PL24] MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Sender: owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Hi! Would someone owning a Sedlbauer P&P card lend me this card for about one week? I could send (in advance) an ELSA P&P card (supported by the upcoming new beta of I4B) to him, so he won't lose his connection... I'd like to add support for this card on NetBSD and OpenBSD. So my vote: prominently mark that we don't support this card and why, and forget about it for now. If someone steps forward to contribute working support, fine, add it. If not, fine too, ignore it. If you look at the impressing number of cards supported now and the realy nice attitude of some companies in providing docs, cards and help - you'll note that we do in no way depend on "unfriendly" companies like Teles. And: cards are dirt cheap nowadays, so anyone needing a supported card can go out and by one. It's much easier then a few of us spending a few days to get the 16.3c working. Or does the work you will do on OpenBSD and NetBSD be the first time the card will work on a BSD. I tried the .63 kit and had no luck. The kernal page faults and messes up the console display so that I cannot get the IP address of the fault. The card worked on FreeBSD in .63, but you had to do some hacks in your config ( two isic0 devices ). This was due to the experimental character of the PnP support and otherwise the kernel would panic. But apart from that the card already worked really good in .63 . In the next public release of I4B it should work "out of the box". -- German Tischler tanis@gaspode.franken.de Apple eaten (core dumped) tanis@cip.informatik.uni-wuerzburg.de To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message
