Please double check that you have indeed built with Mozilla 1.0 (not 1.0.1 or 1.1 as source - the addressbook api has not changed so building with moz -1.0 will not hurt) and that you have the latest patches included. So LinuxPPC would need to add versions for gcc 2.95.X, gcc 3.1.1, and gcc 3.2 and even then there would be no guarantee that they would not need a specific version of libgcc_so.1 and or libstdc++.so.X.Y.Z So right now on ppc linux, YellowDog would need one set, SuSE another, and still a third for their upcoming releases. Perhaps we should only pick one specific gcc version to support for each platform: linux - gcc 3.2.1 and glibc 2.3 since that is what everyone is moving to irix - gcc 2.95.X freebsd - gcc 3.2.1 MacOSX - gcc 3.1 (or we could pick gcc 2.95.X) depending on if we are looking forward or backward etc. I just don't know the correct solution. Either way, without lots of moz zip files lying around we can not guarantee buildability under linux for gcc 2.95.X, 2.96, 3.0.4, gcc 3.1.X, and gcc 3.2.X which all seem to have differnt abi's when it comes to C++ code. Unless soome radical changes happened (in which case it should really be called 3.0) a version compiled/linked against 2.1 should work on a 2.3 based system. If these were linked against the compilers libstdc++ (i think i know the cause why it presently might be an old libstdc++ version) then it would supposedly "just work" and eliminate an axis of difference we might otherwise have. > irix - gcc 2.95.X > freebsd - gcc 3.2.1 > MacOSX - gcc 3.1 (or we could pick gcc 2.95.X) depending on if we are > looking forward or backward > Yes, these are the largely simple cases of one known compiler we want to use. > etc. > > I just don't know the correct solution. Would there be any actualy benefit from including 3.1.x version if everybody is moving to 3.2.x ? Also there is an additional hurdle in that the 1.0.x series needs tobe compatible so 1.0x on linux/x86 needs to remain using 3.0.x as the default compiler. Its a pity the '3.x.y will have a stable ABI' thing turned out to be thin air 8-( > Ideas anyone. > > Kevin > Sander There are voices in the street, And the sound of running feet, And they whisper the word -- Revolution! Since these are mozilla components and not OOo ones I think you just have to invoke compoent.reg someplace that only has access to the components you want to register (not all mozilla components). I belive it will register all componetns it can find but to tell you the truth I am not sure I am remembering correctly. Please check Issuezilla from more info from John or simply ask him tomorrow on dev@porting. He has always been very helpful and answers questions about the Mozilla addressbook promptly. OOo integration with Mozilla is capable of working against an installed compatable version of mozilla. But to guarantee that it always works we build and ship a miniumum set of mozilla runtime components with the OOo installation. But what you have proved is that OOo will integrate against an installed version of mozilla. Hopefully you will able to go on and access Mozilla Personal Address Books. We then have to investigate why OOo does now work against its own created mozilla components. I presume that you have created the a similar set of mozilla runtime components as outlined e.g. in lxruntime.list attached to bug: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=5361 and that these components exist in your OOo installation directory? OOo uses the OPENOFFICE_MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME environment variable to override the MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME. This is set up in the soffice script. Keep the dev@porting informed of your progress. john. > From: Martin Blapp > if I set > > export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=/usr/X11R6/lib/mozilla/ > export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.0/program/ > > /usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.0/program/soffice.bin > > I can successfully use OO.org and the mozilla connector ... > Something is strange here ... > > I get then just this error ... > > ************************************************** > nsNativeComponentLoader: > GetFactory(/usr/X11R6/lib/mozilla/components/libgkcontent.so) Load FAILED with > error: Shared object "libgkgfx.so" not found > ************************************************** > > Maybe some paths are different ? > > Martin > > Martin Blapp, > ------------------------------------------------------------------ > ImproWare AG, UNIXSP & ISP, Zurlindenstrasse 29, 4133 Pratteln, CH > Phone: +41 061 826 93 00: +41 61 826 93 01 > PGP: > PGP Fingerprint: B434 53FC C87C FE7B 0A18 B84C 8686 EF22 D300 551E > ------------------------------------------------------------------ > > > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscribe@porting.openoffice.org > For additional commands, e-mail: dev-help@porting.openoffice.org > ------------------------------------------------------ john.marmion@ireland.sun.com Sun Microsystems Ireland Boole House, East Point Business Park, Dublin 3 Ph: +353 1 819 9235 ------------------------------------------------------ To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-openoffice" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-openoffice Tue Oct 15 0:44:22 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A7E3D37B401 for ; Tue, 15 Oct 2002 00:44:17 -0700 (PDT) Received: from yahoo.com (64.19.42.26.nw.nuvox.net [64.19.42.26]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 63AEF43E65 for ; Tue, 15 Oct 2002 00:44:12 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from MarketingProducts1010@yahoo.com) From: <"[[ToolsForMarketing]]"@FreeBSD.ORG> To: Reply-To: Subject: Lists: Publicity - Libraries - Bookstores - Film Producers - Art Galleries - Record Stores - Custom (more) Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Message-Id: <20021015074412.63AEF43E65@mx1.FreeBSD.org> Date: Tue, 15 Oct 2002 00:44:12 -0700 (PDT) Sender: owner-freebsd-openoffice@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG UNLIMITED USE LISTS . . .DOWNLOAD WITHIN MINUTES. -------------------------------------------------------------- NEW LISTS: PBS STATIONS, UK MEDIA, POLITICAL MEDIA, NEW AGE MEDIA, UK LIBRARIES, SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS, FILM & TV PRODUCERS, ART PUBLISHERS, LITERARY AGENTS, MENS MEDIA. -------------------------------------------------------------- IF WE DO NOT HAVE THE LIST YOU NEED, WE WILL COMPILE A CUSTOM LIST ACCORDING TO YOUR SPECIFICATIONS -------------------------------------------------------------- Call to place your order or for more information. The compile finished (with no errors) in the usual 12 hours or so and then went thru the install part, and it's a *very* lucky thing I happened to be watching at that moment. It deleted the old installation and then did the new install in about 15 seconds (which I know from experience is WRONG) and had just flashed "Cleaning for openoffice" on the screen when I hit Ctrl-C and stopped a disaster. Whew! The short version of the story is that the "ugly hack to avoid opening a display" doesn't work for some reason on my machine. It claims to install but leaves nothing in the /usr/local/OpenOffice/program directory! It did work the last time I compiled OO about 3 months ago, and the install worked correctly then, but not now. Now I cd to /usr/ports/editors/openoffice and "make reinstall" which prints an error message after the "Ugly hack" message and then goes on to repeat the bogus install in about 15 seconds. Still *nothing* in the /usr/local/OO/program directory. Next I did an "export DISPLAY=:0" and then a "make reinstall" which this time worked properly, and took the usual 2-3 minutes or so. The new OO seems to be working just fine, but it was just pure luck that the whole thing didn't delete my old installation and then do a "make clean." I wouldn't have had any clue what went wrong! I've never finishes a completed a build for the previous version for all languages. That's why I build now new ones. It's as easy as ./new_ooo_packages.pl - Packages for 18 language are now built. - Both FreeBSD 4 and FreeBSD 5 packages are available. The script automatically uploads the packages after they are packaged built and adds the download link automatically to the homepage. New packages will appear all 4-5 hours on http://projects.imp.ch/openoffice. I'll rename them in a later step, so the names will match the OpenOffice.org conventions. I'll test now the gcc build accelerator c-cache to speed up the compile time. Has someone done this already ? It seems the results of a GetMutex() call is passed to the OGuard but although I can find numerous definitions of GetMutex() for many of the classes in toolkit/ I simply can not find a Mutex anywhere in the VCLXFixedText class or an implementation of GetMutex() defined anywhere for that class. The VCLXFixedText class extends the XFixedText class and I looked in toolkit in the XFixedText.hpp and related files but could find no Mutex or implemenation of GetMutex() for that class either. So I have no idea what exactly the call to GetMutex() in the VCLXFixedText class is resolving to in the build. Perhaps someone who understands the flow and C++ a bit better than I do could take a look at this and tell us which implementation of GetMutex() is being used by the VCLXFixedText class. Sorry I can't be more help. Kevin On October 17, 2002 10:16, Kevin B. Hendricks wrote: > Hi Martin, > > I just ran it under gdb and no signals of any kind (no segfaults). I fetched the cvs version of 643 several times, but was too busy to work on it. http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/643 I'm working on porting the FreeBSD patches to this version. The plan is then to merge all accepted and tested patches into the FreeBSD/MacOSX Tree. There are already about 10 patches integreated, which are now obsoleted. To merge the patches one has to do the following: The patches need to be applied from within the config_office directory. There are about 30 rejects which needs to be fixed, and of course checking each patch if it is still accurate. Work is needed in the following areas: - Adapt all patches to the new developer build. (I'm working on this currently.) - Merge the new patchset into the OOO_STABLE_1_PORTS branch and into HEAD where possibe. (I'll do that, since I've got commit access to the OpenOffice repo) - Make ccache working with the build. AFAIK this should now work with OO 643, but does not yet in our port of 642 (OO 1.01). Backport this to the OO 1.01 build. - Remove procfs dependency from 642 and 643 ports completly for BSD since running procfs is a security issue. (Not started yet) Kan told me that he has a idea how to do this ;) I got the idea, but had not yet the time to do it. - Testing testing testing. That means calling all options and menues and try also to load huge documents and use it for daily like business things which are not critical. - Integrate the main OO build into the bento cluster. This means that portsmgr needs to fix jdk depending ports and preinstall a jdk for them which is deleted again afterwards. - Create, design the freebsd.openoffice.org porting website. Manage the webpage and keep it up to date. - Fix crash in File -> Autopilot -> Form (happens still with OO 1.01) - oodicts ports and packages: Add Hyph dictionaries to the spell checking dictionaries. This affects all ooodict ports. Release a new set of ooodict packages. - Release the ooo.org packages on the OO.org download locations. Use the Ooo.org name conventions for the packages. - Look at ALT-Linux patches and decide what we can/should use for our OO 1.01 port. (There are some russian/ukraine fixes there). Alexandr Kovalenko is working on this. - Help Michael Rauch to get the NetBSD openoffice port working again. (1.01 is completly broken on NetBSD at the moment). - Give a interview to Michael Lucas about the Project and the efforts. This is not a complete list. Help and ideas are highly welcome. I'll make a status list like the freebsd smpng status list and make it available of http://projects.imp.ch/openoffice. And help is welcome ! The class is derived from VCLXWindow, which in turn is derived from VCLXDevice. And there you find the mutex. You find the (inline) function VCLXDevice::getMutex() in toolkit/inc/toolkit/awt/vclxdevice.hxx. Does anyone have any thoughts on using: portupgrade -m 'USE_GCC=3.1' openoffice to do the upgrade? I dont like using portupgrade, but I dont want to pkg_delete the old version and do a 9 hr install of the new version either.
