I just finished compiling OO on -CURRENT and it's working fine. One problem with the make install, however. I still see the note about the 'awful hack' to avoid specifying a display. However, if I don't specify a display the 'make install' ends with an error message because the /usr/local/OO directory is not found. Just exporting DISPLAY=:0 gets past this error. Is this the expected behavior now? I think it was different for a while. I've a machine with 4.6.1-p10 here that complains with makeinfo when compiling bison/doc, and one with 4.7 that compiles cleanly but fails to install (syntax error after compressing man pages). cu Gerrit -- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-openoffice" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-openoffice Thu Nov 7 23:52:52 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 023E537B401; Thu, 7 Nov 2002 23:52:52 -0800 (PST) Received: from mgate2.uni-hannover.de (mgate2.uni-hannover.de [130.75.2.5]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id DACF243E4A; Thu, 7 Nov 2002 23:52:50 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from gerrit@pmp.uni-hannover.de) Received: from kung.pmp.uni-hannover.de by mgate2.uni-hannover.de with LocalSMTP (PP) with ESMTP; Fri, 8 Nov 2002 08:49:13 +0100 Received: from lonestar.pmp.uni-hannover.de (lonestar.pmp.uni-hannover.de [130.75.117.37]) by kung.pmp.uni-hannover.de (8.11.2/8.11.2) with ESMTP id gA87mwc07052; Fri, 8 Nov 2002 08:48:58 +0100 Received: (from gerrit@localhost) by lonestar.pmp.uni-hannover.de (8.12.3/8.12.3/Submit) id gA87qLWc052656; Fri, 8 Nov 2002 08:52:21 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from gerrit) Date: Fri, 8 Nov 2002 08:52:21 +0100 From: Gerrit Kuehn To: Tom Hukins Cc: Martin Blapp , openoffice@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: Open Office build failed on -stable Message-ID: <20021108075221.GC84318@pmp.uni-hannover.de> References: <20021030214406.A17418@eborcom.com> <20021031102408.G530-100000@levais.imp.ch> <20021107185920.A50492@eborcom.com> <20021108074509.GB84318@pmp.uni-hannover.de> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <20021108074509.GB84318@pmp.uni-hannover.de> User-Agent: Mutt/1.4i Sender: owner-freebsd-openoffice@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG On Fri, Nov 08, 2002 at 08:45:10AM +0100, Gerrit Kuehn wrote: > Can you tell me how you got bison 1.75 compiled? Ok, forget that question, I found PRP 45123 and fixed the makefile manually (cvs hasn't got the fix yet). The 4.7 machine compiles and installs the new bison cleanly now. 4.6.1 still doesn't, but I guess that's a problem with texinfo... cu Gerrit -- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-openoffice" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-openoffice Fri Nov 8 0:18:52 2002 Delivered-To: freebsd-openoffice@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 11C5137B401 for ; Fri, 8 Nov 2002 00:18:52 -0800 (PST) Received: from mail.imp.ch (mail.imp.ch [157.161.1.2]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D07DA43E42 for ; Fri, 8 Nov 2002 00:18:50 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from mb@imp.ch) Received: from nbs.imp.ch (nbs.imp.ch [157.161.4.7]) by mail.imp.ch (8.12.3/8.12.3) with ESMTP id gA88Iis4013146; Fri, 8 Nov 2002 09:18:44 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from Martin.Blapp@imp.ch) Received: from levais.imp.ch (levais.imp.ch [157.161.4.66]) by nbs.imp.ch (8.12.3/8.12.3) with ESMTP id gA88IiAr124480; Fri, 8 Nov 2002 09:18:44 +0100 (MEZ) Date: Fri, 8 Nov 2002 09:19:39 +0100 (CET) From: Martin Blapp To: walt Cc: Subject: Re: Very slightly schizophrenic install problem. Date: Fri, 08 Nov 2002 10:33:57 -0500 Sender: owner-freebsd-openoffice@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG OS: FreeBSD 4.7 Products: OpenOffice 1.0.1, StarOffice 6.0(PP1) Description: Using both OpenOffice and StarOffice, I have been unable to get "print" to use the correct Postscript paper size. Instead of using "Letter", it uses "A4" causing attempts to print to mysteriously fail. The driver file (included below), has the default letter size set to "Letter". my /usr/local/{staroffice6.0,OpenOffice.org1.0}/share/psprint.conf files (included below) both have PPD_PageSize set to "Letter". Before printing, I check that "printer->properties" has page size set to "Letter". However, I still get in the output: %%BeginFeature: *PageSize A4 <> setpagedevice Printing to a file and then hand-editing the file to have the correct settings allows the file to be printed correctly. STFW and STFM, I can't find any other setting that would effect PageSize. Any suggestions gratefully accepted. thanks! fletcher *PPD-Adobe: "4.3" *% ======================================================= *% Printer Description File *% Copyright 1992-99 Hewlett-Packard Company *% *% Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining *% a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the *% "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including *% without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, *% distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to *% permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to *% the following conditions: *% *% The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be *% included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software. *% *% THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, *% EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF *% MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND *% NONINFRINGEMENT. So, you don't need to have the DISPLAY variable set before doing make install? Do you compile OO from an xterm or a pseudo-terminal? I remember a few months ago I did not need to worry about the DISPLAY being set, but things have changed. The 'hack' to avoid setting DISPLAY now appears right at the beginning of the compile, NOT at the beginning of the install as it did back then. Do you see different behavior? I've even resorted to going to the -devel openoffice. Yet it looks like I have the same problem. It's something to do with my installation of java and linux emulation. I'm using the linuxbase-7.1.1 on my server and I've let the installation of openoffice re-install java but no go... any ideas?
