They're not that into promoting BSD to the general community. www.freebsd.org.my is now resolving.. and has better support by the freebsd community here in general and other opensource groups. I have no affiliations to either, but please include the second one (freebsd.org.my) as the maintainer is more committed towards running a site for users (cd's, help and so on). These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. I did make a partial fix, but it didn't really work in all situations. I'm working on a larger update of the doc/ build system (were one of the primary goals is making building with OBJDIR work "right"), but it will take some time before this is in any working state. The thread discussing the problem http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=3D468308+0+/usr/local/www/db/te= xt/2003/freebsd-doc/20030525.freebsd-doc . The patch is also at http://simon.nitro.dk/freebsd/files/doc-build-partial-objdir-buildfix.patch if you want to see a different approach... --=20 Simon L. From: VIO System/ California, USA We're sorry to disturb you with this message, but nowadays, there are not many products to distribute because all the products are already introduced by multi national companies. But we have products that will help you gaining market share quickly and connect to fast financial success. All you need is just a few drop of water. Inside the box, there is a VIO Angel Hair Pellet, one Container and Seed Strip, and all you need is water. Each Container is coated with VIO Fertilizer, that is a complete "pro-botic" organic liquid plant food specifically formulated to meet the nutritional needs of all plants. Why pay for those outrageous price for Vegetables? Grow your own Vegetables in your kitchen, it gives you fresh supply of vegetables as well as decorative effects. VIO Angel Hair Pellet is one of a kind pellet that no other products come even close. "You can even hang it inside the car". VIO Mini Garden was developed to assist anybody who wants to grow vegetables, herbs or flowers from their kitchen, bedroom, office or anyplace you want. VIO Systems developed VIO Mini Garden? so that the consumers do not have to spend so much money on chemically fertilized vegetables, and the price is cheaper than market products. Why don't you distribute this remarkable product for the people who are living in Apartment? One of the advantages of harvesting vegetables right in your Kitchen is that you are at least sure these are fresh and free of toxic pesticides. What's more, freshly picked vegetables retain much of their natural taste and nutrition, unlike farm crops that travel a long way from farm to market before reaching consumers. But how to grow them near your kitchen is a big question, particularly if you live in the city where space is at a premium. So where do you plant the vegetables, and how? VIO Mini Garden Explains all those questions. If you're interested in learning more, just let us know, we'll direct you to our wholesale website. Sincerely. This is because bus_dma_tag_create tries to allocate bounce pages based only on the size of the desired mapping. It cannot now how many maps will be created using that tag. One example where it doesn't work are network drivers which will use on tag to map all the receive or transmit buffers. Each mapped buffer may require its own bounce buffer, but tag_create has allocated only space for one map. Therefor bus_dmamap_load_mbuf will return either EINPROGRESS (if called without BUS_DMA_NOWAIT) or ENOMEM when it fails to allocate bounce buffers. >How-To-Repeat: Look at the code in i386/i386/busdma_machdep.c >Fix: Either document a short version of the above or completly overhaul the bus dma stuff :-) >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Jun 26 07:42:18 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7B92837B401 for ; Thu, 26 Jun 2003 07:42:18 -0700 (PDT) Received: from apnic.net (cumin.apnic.net [202.12.29.59]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3A65A43F3F for ; Thu, 26 Jun 2003 07:42:17 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from root@miso.apnic.net) Received: from miso.apnic.net (miso.apnic.net [202.12.29.246]) by apnic.net (8.12.8/8.12) with ESMTP id h5QEgDPj020257 for ; Fri, 27 Jun 2003 00:42:13 +1000 Received: (from root@localhost) by miso.apnic.net (8.11.6/8.11.6) id h5QEgDj15264; Fri, 27 Jun 2003 00:42:13 +1000 Date: Fri, 27 Jun 2003 00:42:13 +1000 From: "info" In-Reply-To: Message-ID: Precedence: bulk X-RT-Loop-Prevention: APNIC RT-Ticket: APNIC #386923 Managed-by: Request Tracker 2.0.13 (http://www.fsck.com/projects/rt/) RT-Originator: doc@FreeBSD.org To: doc@FreeBSD.org X-AP-Spam-Status: No, hits=3.5 required=7 X-AP-Spam-Score: 3.5 (notspam) BAYES_90,IN_REP_TO X-Scanned-By: MIMEDefang 2.15 (www dot roaringpenguin dot com slash mimedefang) Subject: [APNIC #386923] Re: Application X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Reply-To: info@apnic.net List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 26 Jun 2003 14:42:18 -0000 -- Greetings, This message has been automatically generated in response to your message to APNIC entitled 'Re: Application', the content of which appears below. Then forward the message to: abuse@hotmail.com If the unsolicited junk e-mail or "spam" comes from a non-Hotmail account, you can send a complaint to the service provider that sent the mail. In the expanded header, look at the last "Received:" notation to locate the sending service provider. It will look something like .com. While you are awaiting response from a Support Representative, here is some additional information about how to protect your account. We realize that this e-mail message is lengthy, but please read the entire message below because the answer to your question may be included. Within this message is information on: I. Limiting Unsolicited Bulk E-mail ("spam") II. Turning on the Hotmail Inbox Protector III. Reporting Unwanted, Abusive, or Fraudulent E-Mail We strictly enforce the MSN Hotmail Terms of Use and Notices (TOU), which forbid e-mail abuse. We ask for your support to help Hotmail prevent unwanted, abusive, or fraudulent e-mail. ************************* I. Limiting Unsolicited Bulk E-mail ("spam") Hotmail employs the following methods to protect you from spam: - We limit the number of individual recipients for each e-mail message. - We don't allow numeric characters at the beginning of an e-mail address. Any Hotmail sign-in name beginning with a numeric character is a forgery. - We include "X-[Originating-IP]: [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]" in the header of each e-mail message that Hotmail delivers. Any e-mail message without this entry in its full header didn't come from Hotmail. - We block our relay hosts from those who send spam. - We take legal action against senders of unsolicited bulk e-mail who forge Hotmail addresses. List brokers and individuals who send spam use many tools and techniques to gather e-mail addresses wherever they appear online. Here are some suggestions to help you reduce the amount of spam that you receive. Do: - Remove yourself from any unprotected member directory. - Open another e-mail account that you can use as an address for newsgroup and listserve publications or for posting on bulletin boards. - Use the "Block Sender" option in Hotmail to block the delivery of e-mail from specific senders or domains. - Use the Inbox Protector feature of Hotmail to filter spam into your Bulk Mail folder. Don't: - Post to an online service or any Internet bulletin board. - Post in a Usenet newsgroup or mailing list. - Spend time in chat rooms or an online service that displays your address. - Include yourself in an unprotected member directory of an online service (the Hotmail Member Directory is protected because we do not display member addresses). - Reply to unsolicited e-mail messages with a "remove" request because this only validates to the sender that your address is current. - Click a URL embedded in an unsolicited message because this may reveal your MSN Hotmail address to that Web site. ************************* II. Turning on the Hotmail Inbox Protector >>> To turn on Hotmail's Inbox Protector The Bulk Mail folder protects you from unsolicited e-mail messages (also known as spam). The Hotmail Inbox Protector examines all incoming mail that you have not blocked or filtered. If the Inbox Protector determines that the message is bulk mail, it directs it to the Bulk Mail folder. You can specify how long messages remain in this folder before they are automatically deleted. >>> To set bulk mail filter options with Inbox Protector 1. Click the "Options" button on the horizontal navigation bar. The "Options" page appears. 2. Under "Mail Handling", click the "Inbox Protector" link. The "Inbox Protector" page appears. 3. Select the "Typical" or "Custom" check box to enable the protector. If you chose "Custom", select the check boxes as appropriate to direct incoming mail to your Inbox from the types of senders listed under "Custom". 4. Under Discard Folder, do one of the following: - Select the check box next to "Bulk Mail" to have Bulk Mail messages automatically deleted 14 days after receipt. - Select the check box next to "Trash Can" to have Bulk Mail messages automatically deleted several times a week. 5. Click "OK" to apply the filters. -or- Click "Cancel" to return to the "Options" page without saving the filters. >>> To change the status of a bulk mail message If you receive a message in the Bulk Mail folder that you do not consider bulk mail, do one of the following: - In the Bulk Mail folder, select the check boxes next to the messages that you do not consider bulk mail, and click the "This is not Bulk Mail" button above the message list. The selected messages are moved to your Inbox, and messages from these senders are not sent to the Bulk Mail folder in the future. - In the Bulk Mail folder, click the check boxes next to messages and select a folder from the "Move to" drop-down list above the message list. This method moves the selected messages to that folder, but does not guarantee that messages from that sender are not sent to the Bulk Mail folder in the future. - In Inbox Protector, scroll down to the "Safe List" heading. Messages from an e-mail address (or domain) on your Safe List are always delivered to your Inbox, never to your Bulk Mail or Trash Can. Under the heading "Type a single address or domain" type an e-mail alias or domain from which you always want to receive e-mail, and then click the "Add" button. Note: Messages from mailing lists and forwarded from another e-mail address are often sent to the Bulk Mail folder. To prevent this, create Hotmail filters to direct this mail to your Inbox. ************************* III. Reporting Unwanted, Abusive, or Fraudulent E-Mail >>> To forward mail with expanded headers if you're using Hotmail 1. Click "Options" on the horizontal navigation bar. 2. On the "Options" page under "Additional Options", click the "Preferences" link. Scroll down to "Message Headers" and select "Full". 3. Forward the resulting mail to: abuse@hotmail.com >>> To forward mail with expanded headers if you're using MSN Explorer 1. Open the message and then click "More" in the upper right hand corner. 2. Click "Message Source". The message will open in a new window with all the header information visible. 3. Copy all the text and paste it into a new message. Send this message to: abuse@hotmail.com If you're not a Hotmail member, consult the Help associated with your e-mail program to determine how to view complete header information. Forward only one of the offending pieces of e-mail to abuse at the service provider you have identified: abuse@.com. To log a complaint, add a polite message such as "Here's a copy of the spam I received." To report abuse from a source other than e-mail, include the following information: - The media involved (such as chat, ICQ, or Usenet). - The Hotmail account involved. - The content of the offensive or unsolicited message. - Any user information that you have. You can keep up to date with the fight against spam at: http://www.cauce.org MSN Hotmail also has comprehensive online help available to you. This is up-to-date version of this book with the bookmark page. And THIS IS DIFFERENT. Example of the similar eBook in the different format (including bookmarked PDF) you can download from Fultus web site: http://www.fultus.com/free/documentation.phtml#book_s001 Is this enough? As long as they don't act against this licence then its legal. And there is a lot you are allowed to do. As long as the copyright, conditions, and disclaimer are included, as described at: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ln17.html there's no problem. There might be one difference: The creator of the derivative work might be licensing his work differently than the original work, maybe even saying "no republishing". Unless the PDF is a mere automated translation to PDF, when the derivative would not be granted a new copyright on the translation because the deriver has added nothing worthy of copyright. Compilations are usually granted copyright. P.S. This thread was hard to read. Some people (not you, Nik) really should study how to quote more clearly, or be more careful. I didn't see one and If not I will make an attempt at starting one and submit it for comments. I see one for putting together the handbook third edition, but nothing for general updating to 5.x. Something similiar to this would be good: http://www.freebsd.org/docproj/handbook3.html Next week is the first chance I will have to work on it, but I think it would be helpful.
