Could you please visit http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org.html and correct the problems listed there? The individual port with a problem is emulators/ski. Note that the main port web page, as listed in the WWW: line of the pkg-descr, is checked just as though it was a port distfile. This is an unfortunate side effect of the architecture of the distfile survey reporting tool, but if you see a distfile being reported as not fetchable that's not actually a distfile, see if it's from the pkg-descr. If you have already corrected the problems and submitted a PR, please accept my thanks and apologies for the delay in getting the fixes into the tree. This reminder is created automatically and does not (yet) have a way to know if a PR fixing the problem has been submitted. Please do *NOT* send your response to me directly; I do not always have time to commit your fix; please instead submit a PR via 'send-pr' so it doesn't get lost. Problems are usually of two types: 1. The software package has been upgraded and the version in the port has been removed. The best solution to this problem is to upgrade the port to the most current version of the software package. If you are a FreeBSD committer, then you can just upgrade the port directly. If not, you should create the updated port on your own machine, test it (and maybe even run "portlint" on it), and then use "send-pr" to submit a "diff -uNr old-port updated-port". If you added or deleted any files, please make an explicit note of it. 2. The mirror site being used no longer contains the software package in question, or no longer exists. Solutions include: a) If there are other mirror sites, just remove the bad site from the list. (Make sure that what appears to be a bad site isn't actually a problem of type 1, upgrade) b) If the README or other support files in the software documentation mention where to get the software package, use one of those sites. c) Use ftpsearch (http://ftpsearch.ntnu.no/ftpsearch) or other search engines to find another place to get the original DISTFILES. Make sure that you don't pick a FreeBSD distfiles mirror -- if you can't find any other places where the file exists, it can be a LOCAL_PORT or you can simply comment out the MASTER_SITES= line, with a comment explaining why. Once you have a solution, use "send-pr" to submit a "diff -u" of the Makefile. Note that this isn't an urgent issue, as people who try to build the port now will just fall back to the FreeBSD distfiles mirror. Please just put it on your list to do and get to it when you have time. These messages will continue to arrive twice a month until the fix is committed, as a reminder. Thanks, Bill "distfiles" Fenner. Tried to install 5.2 RC-1 on hp rx2600. It boots fine from the CD, and it pops into the serial console install-mode without any problems. When I have allocated diskspace for FreeBSD and try to use the CD-drive as install-media I get this message: No CD/DVD devices found! Trying a ftp-based install doesn't get me any further, it does seem to recognize all of the built-in NIC's during boot, but does not accept a manual ip-config or dhcp. So the SCSI-drives are recognized, but the ATA-CD apperantly not. Do I need to provide some boot-parameter? Tried the snapshot from Nov. 19'th but no diff. It's a Itanuim 2 with 4 GB RAM. regards Claus Yahoo! Do I need to provide some > boot-parameter? No. This is a bermuda triangle in engineering. The bus enumeration as controlled by ACPI got busted enough with the ACPI import early this year that the rx2600 got broken, but it was not busted enough that I actually noticed :-( I started noticing after the ACPI import that Nate did early this week, because the ATA controller was found, butthe new ATA code doesn't like the CMD649 that's in the rx2600. The triangle is complete by the fact that 5.2-RELEASE has the old ACPI, so that the ATA controller is not found and if you manage to solve that part you'll run into the ATA problem. This makes the release pretty broken. Since ia64 is still tier 2 at this time, I'm not even going to try to make this a showstopper for 5.2. Instead I plan to make a snapshot as soon as the problems are fixed. I still make 5.2-RELEASE, simply because it's a good release otherwise and if you have a SCSI CD, a USB CD or whatever, it's still usable. Note: A network install should work. I do not know what exactly could be your problem. I'll try it out ASAP. -- Marcel Moolenaar USPA: A-39004 marcel@xcllnt.net From owner-freebsd-ia64@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Dec 12 15:08:16 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9A06F16A4CE for ; Fri, 12 Dec 2003 15:08:16 -0800 (PST) Received: from web14104.mail.yahoo.com (web14104.mail.yahoo.com [216.136.172.134]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with SMTP id C7D4243D31 for ; Fri, 12 Dec 2003 15:08:12 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from cguttesen@yahoo.dk) Message-ID: <20031212230812.54023.qmail@web14104.mail.yahoo.com> Received: from [194.248.174.58] by web14104.mail.yahoo.com via HTTP; Sat, 13 Dec 2003 00:08:12 CET Date: Sat, 13 Dec 2003 00:08:12 +0100 (CET) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Claus=20Guttesen?= To: Marcel Moolenaar In-Reply-To: <20031212192452.GA33212@ns1.xcllnt.net> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit cc: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org Subject: Re: installation on hp rx2600 X-BeenThere: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the IA-64 List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 12 Dec 2003 23:08:16 -0000 Hi. > have a SCSI CD, a > USB CD or whatever, it's still usable. > > Note: A network install should work. I tried to perform a networked installation when I found out the CD-drive wasn't recognized (after the install-program was started). But I couldn't see what interface it tried to bring up. So after some trial and error I went straight to the post-installation-part and assigned an ip-address which gave me this error (after asking "Would you like to bring the bge0 interface up right now?"): pid 54 (ifconfig): unaligned access: va=0x600000000005f046, pc=0x400000000034f940 This was done using the ATA-CD-drive. Since I'm able to boot on it, I figured I could goes as far as getting to the networked install. I plugged the bge-interface into a GB-switch, but it goes down to 100 Mbit (according to the switch). regards Claus Yahoo! Just select the install medium when given the opportunity and follow the screens. -- Marcel Moolenaar USPA: A-39004 marcel@xcllnt.net From owner-freebsd-ia64@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Dec 12 15:54:34 2003 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5B37416A4CE for ; Fri, 12 Dec 2003 15:54:34 -0800 (PST) Received: from web14107.mail.yahoo.com (web14107.mail.yahoo.com [216.136.172.137]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 95BEA43D35 for ; Fri, 12 Dec 2003 15:54:33 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from cguttesen@yahoo.dk) Message-ID: <20031212235433.92155.qmail@web14107.mail.yahoo.com> Received: from [194.248.174.33] by web14107.mail.yahoo.com via HTTP; Sat, 13 Dec 2003 00:54:33 CET Date: Sat, 13 Dec 2003 00:54:33 +0100 (CET) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Claus=20Guttesen?= To: Marcel Moolenaar In-Reply-To: <20031212232525.GA597@athlon.pn.xcllnt.net> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit cc: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org Subject: Re: installation on hp rx2600 X-BeenThere: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the IA-64 List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 12 Dec 2003 23:54:34 -0000 >> This was done using the ATA-CD-drive. I did try a proper network-installation at first, but when that didn't work out I just wanted to see which nic's the installer saw. Looks like it only detects the gigabit (bge). Would a workaround be to install either 5.0 or 5.1 and then cvsup to 5.2? regards Claus Yahoo! There's an Intel EtherExpress in the box, but only with the management board AFAICT. > Would a workaround be to install either 5.0 or 5.1 and > then cvsup to 5.2? You can try it, but I would not try versions older than 5.1. Note however that nothing in that area has been changed deliberately. I don't expect a change in behaviour, but it may be possible that 5.1 sees the ATAPI CD. I forgot when we had the ACPI import back then... -- Marcel Moolenaar USPA: A-39004 marcel@xcllnt.net
