Anyways, the problem: We haven't been able to install anything greater than 4.5-RELEASE on the Gigabyte SR101(T) rackmount servers. A link to the product can be found below: http://networking.gigabyte.com.tw I've included dmesg output from both 4.5-RELEASE and (the post MFC ata code) 4.6-RC for your reference (along with Soeren's debug data). I believe there are open PRs on the issue (can't recall what #s), but they haven't been addressed. Emails to Soeren have also gone unanswered past the initial attempt at identifying the problem (circa 7+ months ago.) Perhaps this is one of those "we could care less about this configuration or controller" issues. If so, it would be most appreciated if you'd make the appropriate note/addendum/errata in the hardware compatibility list indicating that the support for the PDC20265 (Promise FastTrack100) controller is lacking. I'm not sure if the PDC20265 works at all for that matter even in an add-on-card configuration. If this is not the case, and there is hope of this issue being resolved, then it would be also appreciated if someone can followup on the problem. If need be, I can open a brand new PR. We've been desperate to get a bunch of servers that we have had in the field upgraded, but have been unable to because of this 8+ month lingering problem. (Again, 4.5-R works, but anything past the massive ata-fudge-mfc in 4.5-stable circa march 2002 triggers the problem.) Thanks for your time and consideration.
