An overview of the port, including errors seen on the build farm, is included below. portname: java/linux-blackdown-jdk13 forbidden because: Vulnerabilities in the browser plugin build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=java&portname=linux-blackdown-jdk13 portname: java/linux-ibm-jdk13 forbidden because: Vulnerabilities in the browser plugin build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=java&portname=linux-ibm-jdk13 If this problem is one that you are already aware of, please accept our apologies and ignore this message. Using only what was readily available, I built the port on a 4.9 machine, created a package, installed package on the 4.7 machine and get the following error running java: $ /usr/local/jdk1.4.2/bin/java dl failure on line 239Error: failed /usr/local/jdk1.4.2/jre/lib/i386/client/libjvm.so, because /usr/local/jdk1.4.2/jre/lib/i386/client/libjvm.so: Undefined symbol = "dlinfo" Is this simply a limitation of 4.7-RELEASE? Looking for a quick yes or no before I go through the trouble of creating a 4.7-STABLE server, which is supposedly the minimum for building the jdk14 port, and then trying to install it on the 4.7-RELEASE machine. Everything that I have tried fails. I have tried linux-blackdown, linux-sun, and the native JDK1.4.2 and they all fail with an error message similar to this: Dec 13, 2005 9:05:06 AM (freenet.node.Node, main, ERROR): Encountered an unexpected error when locking the lockfile '/crypt/rob2/freenet/lock.lck'. Did you install Freenet using the ports framework? In such case, there must something specific to your configuration which causes trouble because it works fine on my system. In any case, I suggest that you contact the maintainer of the port (lioux@FreeBSD.org) if you want to report such error so that he may be aware of it and fix it. I have always just installed the package from the Freenet site, since it is just a jar with some shell scripts. One thing is true about Freenet though. It is a continuously moving target and I know that they have to work around java bugs in general. I will look at that port and see what special is being done to make Freenet work. Before the re-install Eclipse worked 1a (used JDK 1.4.2, however). After the re-install I cvsupped to 6.0-STABLE, performed a build-/ installworld, cvsupped ports and ran "portupgrade -fa". I had to compile Eclipse using WITHOUT_CAIRO, as it didn't link properly against the cairo-Libs. Java 1.5 compiled fine - as the "WITHOU_WEB" is being turned on automagically on amd64... Well, with amd64 I don't have JDK 1.4.2 any longer and so use 1.5. Unfortunately, Eclipse always crashes with with a Signal 6 shortly after starting up and compiling the Workspace (used to pull a project from CVS). My first "action" was to remove .eclipse - however, that didn't help. Now, I read some hints regarding libz.so - Problems here in the list. However, the JDK 1.5 I installed is "jdk-1.5.0p2_3" - and if I got the (latest) commit-comment right, that JDK should not show these libz-Problems any longer (btw: Eclipse it @ "eclipse-3.1.1_2")?! Does anyone have a hint? The crash always happens in "Java indexing"; I enclosed one hs_err - File... Thanks in advance, cheers, _ralf_ --=-OQEWwqoccTCQqovSeBe/-- From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Dec 14 15:35:06 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: Freebsd-java@freebsd.org Delivered-To: Freebsd-java@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D8B6016A41F for ; Wed, 14 Dec 2005 15:35:06 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from ralf.folkerts@gmx.de) Received: from mail.gmx.net (mail.gmx.net [213.165.64.21]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 10ABD43D55 for ; Wed, 14 Dec 2005 15:35:05 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from ralf.folkerts@gmx.de) Received: (qmail invoked by alias); 14 Dec 2005 15:35:04 -0000 Received: from dslb-084-057-153-026.pools.arcor-ip.net (EHLO beaster) [84.57.153.26] by mail.gmx.net (mp033) with SMTP; 14 Dec 2005 16:35:04 +0100 X-Authenticated: #18511927 From: Ralf Folkerts To: Freebsd-java@freebsd.org In-Reply-To: <1134570749.866.17.camel@beaster> References: <1134570749.866.17.camel@beaster> Content-Type: text/plain Organization: Wohnzimmerrechenzentrum Date: Wed, 14 Dec 2005 16:35:03 +0100 Message-Id: <1134574503.866.22.camel@beaster> Mime-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Evolution 2.4.2.1 FreeBSD GNOME Team Port Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Y-GMX-Trusted: 0 Cc: Subject: Re: JDK 1.5 & Eclipse on amd64 Problem... Since every solution so far, seems to generate an error downstream somewhere, I thought I'd post my work so far and see if this makes any sense or that I should stop right here, since it'll cause major problems even if build succeeds. My C++ isn't that good to begin with, so I haven't got a clue if matching the variable types and API changes is getting me anywhere or that complete recoding of the webplugin is required. The patches follow the path conventions from the patches used in the files/ dir under the port. PS: any way to disable the forced rebuilding of api-docs, so that portinstall -w finishes a bit sooner? That is because there is already a patch-deploy...ns7-adapter::Makefile in files/. The mailinglist only accepts text/plain for attachments, so I renamed the files to .txt to reflect that. Rename my .txt one or remove the one already in files/ should fix the problem. It's a bit trickier for the port though, since pre-1.5 mozilla's will fail with these in, so there should be a MOZILLA_VER check and these patches applied seperately via EXTRA_PATCHES. I was wondering if someone had managed to fix SWT 3 (SWT supplied with Eclipse 3). I tried to use it, but it produced some errors (in java code) when I was trying to use it with Azureus 2.x. I haven't had time to look at code myself, and now that I found time I want to see if someone has already done this. It would be good to create separate port for SWT3 (and maybe other SWT's too), so that people trying to use it won't have to build whole eclipse (I don't use eclipse for developing myself)... Take care Andy P.S.: Someone already tried making port, but that code he sent didn't work for me (Mozilla problem I think). There should be a tomcat-*.sh in /usr/local/etc/rc.d already. Run it like: /usr/local/etc/rc.d/tomcat*.sh rcvar It'll give you the variable name to set to "YES" in /etc/rc.conf so it starts up. The following files need to be removed from the files/ dir in order to build correctly: # ls -al files | grep IGNORE | sed -e's/IGNORE-//' -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 608 Oct 13 17:09 patch-deploy-resources-javaws -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 2135 May 11 2005 patch-j2se-jar-Main.java -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 588 May 11 2005 patch-j2se-resources-jar.properties -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 3052 Apr 18 2005 patch-java-util-TimeZone_md.c -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 547 Nov 11 2003 patch-plugin::common::config.gmk -- Melvyn Sopacua freebsd.java@melvyn.homeunix.org FreeBSD 6.0-STABLE Qt: 3.3.5 KDE: 3.4.3 From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Dec 15 18:54:45 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B11E716A41F for ; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 18:54:45 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from freebsd.java@melvyn.homeunix.org) Received: from sarevok.lan.melvyn.homeunix.org (i153153.upc-i.chello.nl [62.195.153.153]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4722643D53 for ; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 18:54:45 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from freebsd.java@melvyn.homeunix.org) Received: by sarevok.lan.melvyn.homeunix.org (Postfix, from userid 100) id 29EA411437; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 19:54:44 +0100 (CET) From: Melvyn Sopacua To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Date: Thu, 15 Dec 2005 19:54:43 +0100 User-Agent: KMail/1.8.3 References: <200512142200.22535.freebsd.java@melvyn.homeunix.org> <200512150120.01650.freebsd.java@melvyn.homeunix.org> <20051215181542.GA71752@misty.eyesbeyond.com> In-Reply-To: <20051215181542.GA71752@misty.eyesbeyond.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Message-Id: <200512151954.43973.freebsd.java@melvyn.homeunix.org> Subject: Re: [fixed] jdk-1.5 update to _3 does not work under freebsd 6 stable X-BeenThere: freebsd-java@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting Java to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 15 Dec 2005 18:54:45 -0000 On Thursday 15 December 2005 19:15, Greg Lewis wrote: > Hi Melvyn, > > On Thu, Dec 15, 2005 at 01:20:01AM +0100, Melvyn Sopacua wrote: > > attached are all patches that resulted in a succesful build for me and > > firefox showing in about:plugins: > > Java(TM) Plug-in 1.5.0-p2-root_14_dec_2005_21_49 > > > > File name: libjavaplugin_oji.so > > Java(TM) Plug-in 1.5.0 > > > > They might include bits of patches already in the port as some files > > already had a .orig. > > > > In short - I took the shortest route to getting the plugin implementation > > to accept PRThread * in place of JDUint32/nsPluginThread, fixed an > > include patch for moved headers and disabled the obsoleted > > NS_COMPONENT_MANAGER_CID with an #ifdef. > > Thanks! Have you successfully tested the plugin with some of the example > applets that come with the JDK? Nope, will do later today. I don't have much faith in it though. It's very unstable at the moment (see some later comments - runescape crash for one in QueueRunnable, which is the place where you'd expect any problems since that puts the thread id finally to java). > Also, I wasn't sure that disabling > NS_COMPONENT_MANAGER_CID was the right thing to do. It looked like that > may mean the plugin doesn't do the right thing with LiveConnect. Comments? Yeah, was thinking to copy NS_COMPONENTMANAGER_CID from some old archives I found, but I think LiveConnect through the component manager has gone. This is the old CID as shown here: http://rpms.alerque.com/BUILD/mozilla/xpcom/components/nsComponentManagerUtils.h 91775d60-d5dc-11d2-92fb-00e09805570f Now let's try this: $ find /usr/X11R6/include/firefox -type f -print |xargs grep '91775d6' |wc -l 0 So, I don't think it'll ever get that CID in the first place and if it does, it'll return JD_ERROR, as that is the only place I found a hook for it. -- Melvyn Sopacua freebsd.java@melvyn.homeunix.org FreeBSD 6.0-STABLE Qt: 3.3.5 Wiki: the next gen programmer's excuse for crappy docs KDE: 3.4.3 From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Dec 15 20:31:21 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5762516A41F; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 20:31:21 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from past@ebs.gr) Received: from fly.ebs.gr (fly.ebs.gr [62.103.84.177]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B7FF143D53; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 20:31:04 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from past@ebs.gr) Received: from ebs.gr (root@hal.ebs.gr [10.1.1.2]) by fly.ebs.gr (8.12.9p1/8.12.9) with ESMTP id jBFKV0Zm015803; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:31:00 +0200 (EET) (envelope-from past@ebs.gr) Received: from [10.1.1.200] (pptp.ebs.gr [10.1.1.200]) by ebs.gr (8.13.3/8.12.11) with ESMTP id jBFKUwKb071843; Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:30:59 +0200 (EET) (envelope-from past@ebs.gr) Message-ID: <43A1D26A.1080808@ebs.gr> Date: Thu, 15 Dec 2005 22:30:34 +0200 From: Panagiotis Astithas Organization: EBS Ltd. I've been working on a port for swt 3.1 for some time now, but I just found the time to finish it. It builds fine here for me on i386 and I can run some example swt applications (without even having to specify java.library.path as mentioned in the examples). I have included the necessary machinery for amd64, but I can't test it at all (besides the fact that the cairo patch does not apply). If someone could fill in the missing bits for that architecture we could submit it and then come up with patches for azureus to depend on this instead of eclipse. I should have thought about that. Its there in my rc.conf, but I had it set to "NO". That explains some things. I am trying to run Freenet on top of cfs which uses NFS. However, now I get the error message in freenet.log which says that some other process is using the lockfile. But I am making progress. I have run the same setup on Linux before, so maybe I need to look back at that to see what I did. It gave an UnknownHost exception until I put the entry corresponding to the hostname in the file /etc/hosts. But, this solution is not good enough, since it requires to hard code the IP address and hostname mapping in the /etc/hosts/ file. Does anyone know how to get the IP address of the host by any other means? Thank You, Prithula Dhungel. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! I suspect something local to your system is causing this problem. I do not think this problem is specifically related to java. The error message given is actually a result of amavisd-new attempting to run and use the "file" utility. Somehow, yours is running java as a result. Check to make sure that your file(1) utility is in place and working correctly. Check for any other executables named "file" in your $PATH that might be interfering with normal operation. Otherwise, I can only suggest hacking up your amavisd file to try to get a better idea of what is going on. Sorry for the late response. I've tested the plugin demos and they all have the same problem: #17 0x2a1247fc in QueueRunnable::waitOnPipe () from /usr/local/jdk1.5.0/jre/lib/i386/libjavaplugin_nscp.so #18 0x2a12489d in QueueRunnable::threadEntry () from /usr/local/jdk1.5.0/jre/lib/i386/libjavaplugin_nscp.so Right now, I think the best solution is to mark the port broken with MOZILLA_VER=15 until this is properly resolved. 1.4.2p8_2 (experimental patchset) works correctly. -- Melvyn Sopacua melvyn@melvyn.homeunix.org FreeBSD 6.0-STABLE Qt: 3.3.5 KDE: 3.4.3 From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Dec 17 14:30:05 2005 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id AE8D516A41F for ; Sat, 17 Dec 2005 14:30:05 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from joeldiaz@nc.rr.com) Received: from ms-smtp-02-eri0.southeast.rr.com (ms-smtp-02-lbl.southeast.rr.com [24.25.9.101]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2DCBB43D5E for ; Sat, 17 Dec 2005 14:30:04 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from joeldiaz@nc.rr.com) Received: from [192.168.2.6] (cpe-071-065-242-241.nc.res.rr.com [71.65.242.241]) by ms-smtp-02-eri0.southeast.rr.com (8.12.10/8.12.7) with ESMTP id jBHEU24p020848 for ; Sat, 17 Dec 2005 09:30:02 -0500 (EST) Mime-Version: 1.0 (Apple Message framework v746.2) Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Message-Id: <03AA8FD4-498E-430E-B6E1-0B77524033F1@nc.rr.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed To: freebsd-java@freebsd.org From: Joel Diaz Date: Sat, 17 Dec 2005 09:30:01 -0500 X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.746.2) X-Virus-Scanned: Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine Subject: jdk15 build failing on 6.0-RELEASE X-BeenThere: freebsd-java@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting Java to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 17 Dec 2005 14:30:05 -0000 I presently have java/jdk15 installed, but there was a port revision recently.
