We have a mainly FreeBSD server farm of about 8 FreeBSD 4.x boxes and 5 Windows 2000 servers in 5 offices around the US, an office in the UK, with about 500 users, each having a desktop or laptop with mostly Windows XP, but some OSX. A large number of the users are "in the field" most of the time. The job consists of helping maintain the Windows XP boxes (cleaning viruses and spyware, defragging disks, doing "Help Desk" type work), but the person needs to have good FreeBSD/Unix skills and knowing PHP, C, Java and even VB would be a plus as well as knowledge of Apache, Sendmail, Samba and FreeBSD servers in general. Networking skills are also a plus as well as 2000 server admin skills. Hardware skills are also a big plus, mostly laptop repair. Anyone who has time to snap off abusive emails to posters of this list clearly has the time to visit the damn URL and find out where this job is. If you don't, delete the message. Who will know? Who will care? Obviously it is in the poster's best interest to state the location in the post. But this one didn't. So what? He doesn't hate you because you live in Munich. That's why the charter was extended, to cut noise & degenerative follow up. ---- http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-jobs This is a forum for posting employment notices and resumes specifically related to FreeBSD, e.g. if you're seeking FreeBSD-related employment or have a job involving FreeBSD to advertise then this is the right place. This is NOT a mailing list for general employment issues since adequate forums for that already exist elsewhere. Note that this list, like other mailing lists @FreeBSD.ORG, is distributed worldwide. Thus, you need to be clear about location and the extent to which telecommuting or assistance with relocation is available. All email should be open source formats only. I'd like if the list remained socially liberal and members consider others before they post or reply to the list. Today I received 18 email messages from the list, including 2 job postings and 1 relevant response - that's a 5:1 cruft:quality ratio! I appreciate list members that follow the charter, but I would be silently grateful to those wishing to complain that respond directly to the writer. Few seem to realize how many people receive emails when they reply to this list. Please exercise common courtesy and reserve the mailing list for pertinent emails (e.g. job postings, resumes, and messages like Paul Robinson's original response). Thanks, Eric Johnston (P.S. If you would like to commend or complain regarding this message, feel free, but please refrain from CC'ing the mailing list.)
