I've therefore made the pdf files (four of them) used to print the book on my web page and ftp server: http://andrsn.stanford.edu/FreeBSD/introbook and ftp://andrsn.stanford.edu/pub/introbook The book was written for FreeBSD 4.x and hasn't been updated for 5.x or 6.x. Nevertheless, people continue to ask for it and send me messages that it's been helpful. This is, I think, because it assumes virtually zero knowledge of UNIX or FreeBSD and was carefully written not to assume in one chapter information not covered until a later chapter. The book is still under copyright and thus isn't available for commercial reprint, but for personal use. You can buy a few (rare) items from http://www.cafepress.com, but nothing with the new logo. I'm actually kind of curious to know why the Project or the Foundation hasn't set up a CafePress shop yet? It seems like a fairly trivial amount of work and I've noticed that many Linux distributions appea= r to have set up shops to help project funding, as well as PC-BSD ( http://www.cafepress.com/pc_bsd). I know I, and I assume others, wouldn't mind seeing a shop with some apparel, stickers, or around-the-house items sporting Beastie and even the new logo. And, of course, it would also produce another source of funding for the Project. -David On 5/22/06, Mick Charles Beaver wrote: > > Hello All, > > Does anyone know where the best place to buy FreeBSD shirts would be? > I've come across some at FreeBSD Mall and BSD Mall. > > Is the FreeBSD Foundation going to be offering shirts with the new logo? > > Thanks, > Mick > _______________________________________________ > freebsd-advocacy@freebsd.org mailing list > http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-advocacy > To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-advocacy-unsubscribe@freebsd.or= g > " > From owner-freebsd-advocacy@FreeBSD.ORG Mon May 22 12:21:56 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-advocacy@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-advocacy@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BDBDE16A7BB for ; Mon, 22 May 2006 12:21:56 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from dan@langille.org) Received: from m21.unixathome.org (m21.unixathome.org [205.150.199.217]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BD66143D70 for ; Mon, 22 May 2006 12:21:54 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from dan@langille.org) Received: from localhost (localhost [205.150.199.217]) by m21.unixathome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 36EDBC37E; Mon, 22 May 2006 08:21:54 -0400 (EDT) Received: from m21.unixathome.org ([205.150.199.217]) by localhost (m21.unixathome.org [205.150.199.217]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id 14561-09; Mon, 22 May 2006 08:21:51 -0400 (EDT) Received: from bast.unixathome.org (bast.unixathome.org [70.26.229.230]) by m21.unixathome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 28C9DBFA9; Mon, 22 May 2006 08:21:50 -0400 (EDT) Received: from [10.55.0.99] (wocker.unixathome.org [10.55.0.99]) by bast.unixathome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 71AB7B820; Mon, 22 May 2006 08:21:46 -0400 (EDT) From: "Dan Langille" To: "David Stanford" Date: Mon, 22 May 2006 08:21:49 -0400 MIME-Version: 1.0 Message-ID: <4471749D.16626.226B697F@dan.langille.org> Priority: normal In-reply-to: References: <447159D5.5010105@gmail.com> X-mailer: Pegasus Mail for Windows (4.31) Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Content-description: Mail message body X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new-20030616-p10 (Debian) at unixathome.org Cc: freebsd-advocacy@freebsd.org Subject: Re: FreeBSD shirts X-BeenThere: freebsd-advocacy@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD Evangelism List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 22 May 2006 12:22:04 -0000 On 22 May 2006 at 3:15, David Stanford wrote: > It's funny to see this post as I was just wondering the same thing > yesterday... > > You can buy a few (rare) items from http://www.cafepress.com, but nothing > with the new logo. Do I contact the FreeBSD Foundation? As far as the representative from BSDMall is concerned, I believe that they may get permission to make shirts by emailing trademark@FreeBSDFoundation.org, as specified on the new guidelines at http://www.freebsdfoundation.org/legal/guidelines.shtml . As stated earlier, the Foundation could certainly set up their own CafePress shop. I want to wear new FreeBSD shirts so badly. Even a black polo with a little embroidered logo would make me happy at this point. -Mick
