This file cannot be found anywhere. How I solved my problem with this port? 1. grabbed "gtk2-2.4.14-4.fc3.3.i386.rpm" (eg from http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-announce-list/2005-November/msg00050.html) and put in /usr/ports/distfiles/rpm 2. changed the line starting with RPM_SET in Makefile (by adding to characters ".3") 3. created an MD5 for this file and changed distinfo.i386 4. make all install clean worked and After this I could successfully install acroread7. * *Sorry if this is not the standard way to report problems with ports. If you point me to info on how to do it properly I would do it (filling some PR form? sending a patch?). The only remedy has been to log in remotely and kill the X server. After restarting X everything is normal again. A good way to report problems is to send a PR (in case there's no maintainer, it's the only way with some kind of success probability), either with a web browser on the FreeBSD.org site, or with the send-pr command line utility (in case your FreeBSD box has a working mail setup). Ideally the PR comes with a patch which fixes the problem. In this case it's enough to just tell the maintainer (the emulation mailing list) about the name change. I can't fix the port tonight (insufficient computing resources ATM), but I try to get some time tomorrow ("today" actually) in case no other committer fixes the port before I get time to do it. As part of my wish to eventually have OpenSolaris running in a jail, I ripped some patches from NetBSD's site in a -perhaps hopeless - attempt to get our SVR4 emulation up to date. I'm sure several patches are correct, some I'm not sure and some others (specially those related to signals) I preferred not to try at all. I wish someone that understands the code can review it and eventually even commit it. enjoy, Pedro. --- FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org ha scritto: > Data: Wed, 4 Jan 2006 04:20:03 GMT > A: "Pedro f. [brandelf-ing the lib] It's not possible (at least not this way), the linuxolator doesn't take care of this. You better get a FreeBSD version of this, it's the least amount of work. If this isn't possible, you need to write a wrapper. Have a look at the linuxpluginwrapper port. Good luck if you decide to write a wrapper. I already found an issue: there's no kern_statvfs., and I'm not sure kern_statfs will do the right thing. It's probably not too difficult to solve but perhaps we shouldn't do the statfs-->statvfs change for now. I will need to test the patch on i386. ___________________________________ Yahoo! I've portupgraded the default linux base port (emulators/linux_base-8) several times (at least for every portrevision bump) and I didn't reinstall for example linux-gtk2, but acroread7 still works. So I'm a little bit puzzled how this can happen. ... Ok, I've looked into this, now I understand. It removes $LINUXBASE/usr/local completely, not $LINUXBASE. Remove the usr/local entry from the REMOVE_DIRS variable, try a completely fresh install of linux_base (empty $LINUXBASE), and have a look if there are some file in $LINUXBASE/usr/local. If there's no file, go ahead and change the Makefile. I assume you didn't encountered bad behavior with linux programs while having $LINUXBASE/usr/local. Acroread7 is still able to dig into the FreeBSD /usr/local then, right? I had to dig around and find some newer Linux libraries that the existing ports provide, specifically: /usr/compat/linux/lib/libgcc_s.so.1 /usr/compat/linux/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 This allows me to install it at least. When I try to run it, however, I get this error which I don't understand: cshenton@Palimpsest(301> ./Bin/rmserver ./Bin/rmserver: relocation error: ./Bin/rmserver: undefined symbol: g_nTLSProcnum These are the libraries it's trying to use: cshenton@Palimpsest(303> ldd ./Bin/rmserver ./Bin/rmserver: libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x2838c000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x2838f000) libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 (0x0094c000) libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x283e0000) libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x28401000) libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x2840a000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x28376000) A google query indicates that symbol -- in the Helix community version at least -- is in /cvsroot/server/engine/core/_main.cpp I don't understand why the binary can't find this symbol since it's not from an external library which might be out of date. My guess is that /lib/ld-linux.so.2 from the Linux emulator isn't working right. Any suggestions on how I might resolve this? Many thanks. Could you please visit http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org.html and correct the problems listed there? The individual ports with problems are devel/linux-libglade,graphics/linux-ungif. If you have already corrected the problems and submitted a PR, please accept my thanks and apologies for the delay in getting the fixes into the tree. This reminder is created automatically and does not (yet) have a way to know if a PR fixing the problem has been submitted. Please do *NOT* send your response to me directly; I do not necessarily have time to commit your fix; please instead submit a PR via 'send-pr' so it doesn't get lost. Problems are usually of two types: 1. The software package has been upgraded and the version in the port has been removed. The best solution to this problem is to upgrade the port to the most current version of the software package. If you are a FreeBSD committer, then you can just upgrade the port directly. If not, you should create the updated port on your own machine, test it (and maybe even run "portlint" on it), and then use "send-pr" to submit a "diff -uNr old-port updated-port". If you added or deleted any files, please make an explicit note of it. 2. The mirror site being used no longer contains the software package in question, or no longer exists. Solutions include: a) If there are other mirror sites, just remove the bad site from the list. (Make sure that what appears to be a bad site isn't actually a problem of type 1, upgrade) b) If the README or other support files in the software documentation mention where to get the software package, use one of those sites. c) Use a search engine to find another place to get the original DISTFILES. Make sure that you don't pick a FreeBSD distfiles mirror -- if you can't find any other places where the file exists, it can be a LOCAL_PORT or you can simply comment out the MASTER_SITES= line, with a comment explaining why. Once you have a solution, use "send-pr" to submit a "diff -u" of the Makefile. Note that this isn't an urgent issue, as people who try to build the port now will just fall back to the FreeBSD distfiles mirror. Please just put it on your list to do and get to it when you have time. These messages will continue to arrive twice a month until the fix is committed, as a reminder. Thanks, Bill "distfiles" Fenner.
