Please run the gnomelogalyzer, available from "http://www.freebsd.org/gnome/gnomelogalyzer.sh", which will diagnose the problem and suggest a solution. If - and only if - the gnomelogalyzer cannot solve the problem, report the build failure to the FreeBSD GNOME team at gnome@FreeBSD.org, and attach (a) "/usr/ports/devel/gconf2/work/GConf-2.14.0/config.log", (b) the output of the failed make command, and (c) the gnomelogalyzer output. Also, it might be a good idea to provide an overview of all packages installed on your system (i.e. an `ls /var/db/pkg`). Put your attachment up on any website, copy-and-paste into http://freebsd-gnome.pastebin.com, or use send-pr(1) with the attachment. Try to avoid sending any attachments to the mailing list (gnome@FreeBSD.org), because attachments sent to FreeBSD mailing lists are usually discarded by the mailing list software. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/ports/devel/gconf2. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/ports/textproc/wv. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/ports/editors/abiword. ======================== gnomelogalyzer.log ======================== # ~/gnomelogalyzer.sh Generating build log. The chances are good that you'll simply be told to perform one of the aforementioned steps. ========================== ls_var_db_pkg ========================== ORBit2-2.14.2_1 Xaw3d-1.5E_1 a2ps-letter-4.13b_3 apsfilter-7.2.7 atk-1.10.3_1 bash-3.1.10_1 bitstream-vera-1.10_2 byaccj-1.1 ca-roots-1.2 cairo-1.0.2_2 cdrtools-2.01_3 cscope-15.5_2 cups-base-1.1.23.0_8 db41-4.1.25_3 desktop-file-utils-0.10_4 expat-2.0.0_1 firefox-1.5.0.1_1,1 fontconfig-2.3.2_3,1 freebsd-update-1.6_2 freetype2-2.1.10_3 fvwm-2.4.19 gettext-0.14.5_2 ghostscript-gnu-7.07_15 glib-1.2.10_12 glib-2.8.6_1 gmake-3.80_2 gnu-autoconf-2.59 gnu-automake-1.9.6 gnu-libtool-1.5.20 gnupg-1.4.2.2 gnutls-1.2.10_1 gpgme-1.0.3_1 gsfonts-8.11_2 gtar-1.15.1_2 gtk-1.2.10_15 gtk-2.8.12_1 gv-3.6.1 hicolor-icon-theme-0.5 hpijs-2.1.4 imake-6.9.0 intltool-0.35.0 jpeg-6b_4 libIDL-0.8.6_2 libXft-2.1.7_1 libdrm-2.0.2 libgcrypt-1.2.2 libgpg-error-1.1 libiconv-1.9.2_2 libtool-1.5.22_2 libwmf-0.2.8.4 libxml2-2.6.23_1 linc-1.0.3_6 links-2.1.p20,1 lynx-2.8.5_2 m4-1.4.4 mime-support-3.37.1 mtools-3.9.9 nspr-4.6.1 nss-3.11 objc-3.2.7 open-motif-2.2.3_2 p5-XML-Parser-2.34_2 pango-1.10.3_1 perl-5.8.8 pkgconfig-0.20 pkgdb.bad pkgdb.db png-1.2.12_1 popt-1.7_1 portupgrade-2.1.3.3_1,2 psutils-letter-1.17_2 python-2.4.3 rsync-2.6.8_2 ruby-1.8.5,1 ruby18-bdb-0.5.9_2 ruby18-bdb1-0.2.2 rxvt-2.6.4_2 shared-mime-info-0.16_2 sudo-1.6.8.12_1 t1lib-5.1.0_1,1 tcl-8.4.13_1,1 tiff-3.8.0_1 unzip-5.52_2 uulib-0.5.20_1 vim-6.4.6_1 xorg-clients-6.9.0_2 xorg-documents-6.9.0 xorg-fonts-100dpi-6.9.0_1 xorg-fonts-75dpi-6.9.0_1 xorg-fonts-encodings-6.9.0_1 xorg-fonts-miscbitmaps-6.9.0_1 xorg-fonts-truetype-6.9.0 xorg-fonts-type1-6.9.0 xorg-libraries-6.9.0 xorg-manpages-6.9.0 xorg-server-6.9.0_1 xpdf-3.01_2 xterm-206_1 xv-3.10a_5 From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Sep 4 02:48:31 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4DCEF16A508; Mon, 4 Sep 2006 02:48:31 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tcajxf@flying.to) Received: from flying.to (59-114-244-178.dynamic.hinet.net [59.114.244.178]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 3C7DD43D53; Mon, 4 Sep 2006 02:48:29 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from tcajxf@flying.to) Date: Mon, 04 Sep 2006 10:48:26 +0800 From: "sirhz rtlimlkb" X-Sender: tcajxf@flying.to To: , , , Message-Id: <1800924179.lgLFHj-32707791-6392@flying.to> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain Cc: Subject: Stock to Consider Right Now? [...] The problem was the missing gtreamer-plugins-cdparanoia. But that leads me to another question. The gnome-faq mentions that the kernel needs atapicam loaded. Is that information outdated for FreeBSD-6.1p5 ? Since I've been now successfully using a renamed GENERIC kernel, which doesn't have the line 'device atapicam' neither in its config, nor in NOTES. I've seen that atapicam is build as a module, though, but playing works fine without 'kldload atapicam'. (Or is it loaded automagically ?) The other question is: How are the official binary-buils configured ? Can I assume that the config template defaults are used ? (Which I think could have saved me from my trouble, since libcdio would have been build without cdparanoia) The last question: Since no one answered to my first mail; was it the wrong list ? Does smth. like this goes into freebsd-questions ? If so, sorry folks ! That'll never happen again ;) thx Oliver Epper From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Sep 4 11:19:43 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.org Delivered-To: freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 859BF16A4E6; Mon, 4 Sep 2006 11:19:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from vova@sw.ru) Received: from vbook.fbsd.ru (swsoft-mipt-nat.sw.ru [195.214.233.10]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1A91943D4C; Mon, 4 Sep 2006 11:19:42 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from vova@sw.ru) Received: from vova by vbook.fbsd.ru with local (Exim 4.63 (FreeBSD)) (envelope-from ) id 1GKCUM-00011E-9u; Mon, 04 Sep 2006 15:19:38 +0400 From: Vladimir Grebenschikov To: gnome Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Organization: SWsoft Date: Mon, 04 Sep 2006 15:19:36 +0400 Message-Id: <1157368776.1362.23.camel@localhost> Mime-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Evolution 2.6.3 FreeBSD GNOME Team Port Sender: Vladimir Grebenschikov Cc: dryice@dryice.name, ale@FreeBSD.org Subject: Well-known linkning problem for gnome applications (net/gq, graphics/gqview) ? It looks like imap4 support is no longer available. All my accounts with Imap4 as receiving options where disabled after the upgrade from 2.7.x to 2.8. So I changed it to Imap. Another downside is that imap does not support shared imap folder like imap4 does. I use several shared folder on my cyrus server and I can't subscribe it anymore. Is there a way to re-enable imap4 support. At least it should be documented that imap4 accounts are "disabled". The profiles are still there but you have to change the receiving protocol to imap. It was disabled by default in evolution-data-server-1.8.0 2006-09-01 Harish Krishnaswamy * configure.in, camel/providers/Makefile.am: Make IMAP4rev1 provider a conditional feature, turned off by default. Fixes #324118. we can probably make a knob for it in e-d-s to optionally enabled it. Michael Cheers, > Thomas > > PS: Gnome 2.16 for freebsd looks good. I've just build totem 'as is', that means with the xine backend. (which I prefer) Totem crashes immediatley after opening any media file ! It plays dvd, though. (with totem dvd://) The system where I've installed the resulting package had the gnome2-lite port already installed, so /usr/X11R6/bin/totem was replaced by the totem package. As a quick test I build an installed xine which works smoothly. Even 'totem --debug' has no hint on what goes wrong. Any ideas ? I am running releng 6.1 with gnome 2.12 on my notebook. I was experiencing problems with gnome 2.14 due likely to multiple portupgrades over the past year some of which did not go smoothly. One symptom was that gdm was no longer working (I do have gdm_enable="YES" in my rc.conf etc.). Therefore, I decided this morning to remove all ports and do a quick reinstall of gnome via pkg_add -r gnome2 which installed gnome 2.12. All appears to be working except gdm still does not work. There is nothing in any log file in /var/log to help, and /var/log/gdm is empty. I can run gdm manually as root with /usr/X11R6/sbin/gdm, it just does not want to come up at boot time for me for some odd reason. Any suggestion as to where to begin debugging would be most welcome. I have spent hours to no avail. Many thanks for your help and suggestions. -- Jeff -- Professor J. S. Could you please visit http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/gnome@freebsd.org.html and correct the problems listed there? The individual ports with problems are deskutils/alacarte,devel/glib20-reference. If you have already corrected the problems and submitted a PR, please accept my thanks and apologies for the delay in getting the fixes into the tree. This reminder is created automatically and does not (yet) have a way to know if a PR fixing the problem has been submitted. Please do *NOT* send your response to me directly; I do not necessarily have time to commit your fix; please instead submit a PR via 'send-pr' so it doesn't get lost. Problems are usually of two types: 1. The software package has been upgraded and the version in the port has been removed. The best solution to this problem is to upgrade the port to the most current version of the software package. If you are a FreeBSD committer, then you can just upgrade the port directly. If not, you should create the updated port on your own machine, test it (and maybe even run "portlint" on it), and then use "send-pr" to submit a "diff -uNr old-port updated-port". If you added or deleted any files, please make an explicit note of it. 2. The mirror site being used no longer contains the software package in question, or no longer exists. Solutions include: a) If there are other mirror sites, just remove the bad site from the list. (Make sure that what appears to be a bad site isn't actually a problem of type 1, upgrade) b) If the README or other support files in the software documentation mention where to get the software package, use one of those sites. c) Use a search engine to find another place to get the original DISTFILES. Make sure that you don't pick a FreeBSD distfiles mirror -- if you can't find any other places where the file exists, it can be a LOCAL_PORT or you can simply comment out the MASTER_SITES= line, with a comment explaining why. Once you have a solution, use "send-pr" to submit a "diff -u" of the Makefile. Note that this isn't an urgent issue, as people who try to build the port now will just fall back to the FreeBSD distfiles mirror. Today the GNOME-Porject released 2.16 you may give it a try when it enters ports in the near future.
