This is in my .vimrc: autocmd BufNewFile,BufRead *.sgml,*.ent,*.html,*.tex,*.xsl set autoindent formatoptions=3Dtcq2l textwidth=3D70 shiftwidth=3D2 softtabstop=3D2 tabstop=3D8 When I edit the sgml, it looks ok: Changing Console Video Modes The FreeBSD console default video mode may be adjusted to 1024x768, 1280x1024, or any other size supported by your=20 graphics chip and monitor. I think it's just fine. If you apply it through patch(1) then it will understand that it's a so the result would be what you expect. Obviously vim in converting the 8 spaces into one tab. When displayed=20 this turns into "indentation to the first tabstop (=3D8)" which means only= =20 and indentation of 7 is visible (deducting the plus sign). I don't know how to teach vim not to do the conversion and I don't know if= =20 that might even be the right formatting, but I hope this helps. > When the diff is applied to the original source, it comes > out fine, so maybe it's ok? > > Any advice from expert vimmers would be greatly appreciated. > > Thank you. > Chess =2D-=20 /"\ Best regards, | mlaier@freebsd.org \ / Max Laier | ICQ #67774661 X http://pf4freebsd.love2party.net/ | mlaier@EFnet / \ ASCII Ribbon Campaign | Against HTML Mail and News --nextPart4243409.gHYmf1S2Wy Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.4 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQBHCabtXyyEoT62BG0RAtVtAJ4zwwYPOA0wmzsQ7jMy+Aipv0OpeACfX98t rdIEc5prqWiefL/81tFBtS0= =bxLE -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --nextPart4243409.gHYmf1S2Wy-- From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Oct 8 04:38:34 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 289D716A419 for ; Mon, 8 Oct 2007 04:38:34 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from brdbrd@gmail.com) Received: from rv-out-0910.google.com (rv-out-0910.google.com [209.85.198.186]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E4A5E13C4BB for ; Mon, 8 Oct 2007 04:38:33 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from brdbrd@gmail.com) Received: by rv-out-0910.google.com with SMTP id l15so574852rvb for ; Sun, 07 Oct 2007 21:38:33 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=beta; h=domainkey-signature:received:received:message-id:date:from:sender:to:subject:in-reply-to:mime-version:content-type:content-transfer-encoding:content-disposition:references:x-google-sender-auth; bh=KwO3bsPeQ6fPl5Nu0DbRTljB1c+UVomjrNzMgFjdpaQ=; b=k46ELUcuAIKrZw+MozhvIsiVXREALtltdwmrUbAk3L+949WsJlBQnq1C+9UwLguvAn8LNVsgdJg3QQLHh0bERUjO0TuZJ2hxMVpym74rntAOxkaPgsVx6TWeYrUmn2jyfZhqoGQVgqizYRYLukn/fr5gZbczCltMlC7aR++tOdU= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=beta; h=received:message-id:date:from:sender:to:subject:in-reply-to:mime-version:content-type:content-transfer-encoding:content-disposition:references:x-google-sender-auth; b=grQQlMOZPgrG672HWQkIswEpVbu2YSWW8n8amh5cIRTQ0xPBirv5GNr/H6SjgJaKKxiNJh/JgojV9DvabmAkvE/jfgxrn9PAK5pqJzRG0sz8YREhC0ZiuUB0Y78T3TgzEK/vq7jVwzsFi/Iv4Kl9589HH+8prMdkE9YM3AxOU5g= Received: by 10.141.34.12 with SMTP id m12mr238510rvj.1191816862022; Sun, 07 Oct 2007 21:14:22 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.141.36.7 with HTTP; Sun, 7 Oct 2007 21:14:21 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: <35ffa5710710072114v17f419c7p74b8c5045dff6e19@mail.gmail.com> Date: Sun, 7 Oct 2007 22:14:22 -0600 From: "Brad Davis" Sender: brdbrd@gmail.com To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org, "Chess Griffin" In-Reply-To: <200710080541.34050.max@love2party.net> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline References: <20071007231017.1a29bec8@chessgriffin.com> <200710080541.34050.max@love2party.net> X-Google-Sender-Auth: 026ecdb3773bdf5e Cc: Subject: Re: Two space indentation displays incorrectly in diff X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 08 Oct 2007 04:38:34 -0000 On 10/7/07, Max Laier wrote: > On Monday 08 October 2007, Chess Griffin wrote: > > Hello, > > > > I am working on some more doc diffs to submit and I am paying careful > > attention to the FDP Primer. A tabs *should* be used instead a group of spaces (according to fdp-primer), thus the patch you generated was 100% perfect. These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. r - repocopy The resolution of the problem report is dependent on a repocopy operation within the CVS repository which is awaiting completion. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. The handbook (chapter 15.6.1.3) contains the following text: jail_enable="YES" jail_set_hostname_allow="NO" jail_list="ns mail www" jail_ns_hostname="ns.example.org" jail_ns_ip="192.168.3.17" jail_ns_rootdir="/home/j/ns" jail_ns_devfs_enable="YES" jail_mail_hostname="mail.example.org" jail_mail_ip="192.168.3.18" jail_mail_rootdir="/home/j/mail" jail_mail_devfs_enable="YES" jail_www_hostname="www.example.org" jail_www_ip="62.123.43.14" jail_www_rootdir="/home/j/www" jail_www_devfs_enable="YES" By default /home is a symlink to /usr/home and therefor devfs will not be mounted in the jails. In fact, they refuse to start. I've attached a patch which changes the rootdir to not contain a symlink. This is my first patch to any of the documentation so please let me know if I did anything wrong, I'll be glad to do what I can to fix it up. A brief discussion about this can be found at: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-doc/2007-June/012671.html I still maintain that the text quoted in that thread is not sufficient given the examples and the behavior displayed. >How-To-Repeat: wxs@ack ~ % grep ^jail /etc/rc.conf jail_enable="YES" jail_interface="bge0" jail_list="test" jail_test_hostname="test" jail_test_ip="192.168.1.222" jail_test_rootdir="/home/wxs/test" jail_test_devfs_enable="YES" wxs@ack ~ % sudo /etc/rc.d/jail start Configuring jails:. I am having a problem installing PC-BSD. I purchased installation cd's from Free BSD Mall. Whenever I attempt to install to my laptop, I get the following error message: can't exec getty '/user/libexec/getty' for port /dev/ttyv0: no such file or directory I know nothing about computers. The package I purchased came with two cd's. I've tried switching to the second cd at the point where the error message occurs and that didn't work. What am I doing wrong and what should I do to fix the problem. If it helps, I'm trying to install PC-BSD on an old Compaq Armada which is currently running windows 98. Again, I'm sorry if this email is sent to the wrong address. Speaking aside it's not clear why do you need -U when the mount specification has a user part: //user@server/share. -- Maxim Konovalov From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Oct 13 22:04:43 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B1C4416A46D for ; Sat, 13 Oct 2007 22:04:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from spil.oss@googlemail.com) Received: from wr-out-0506.google.com (wr-out-0506.google.com [64.233.184.233]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7584713C44B for ; Sat, 13 Oct 2007 22:04:42 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from spil.oss@googlemail.com) Received: by wr-out-0506.google.com with SMTP id 70so626197wra for ; Sat, 13 Oct 2007 15:04:42 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.150.155.1 with SMTP id c1mr779724ybe.1192306099957; Sat, 13 Oct 2007 13:08:19 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.150.205.11 with HTTP; Sat, 13 Oct 2007 13:08:19 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: <5fbf03c20710131308o65e01b36pf46106e2b9b1ab77@mail.gmail.com> Date: Sat, 13 Oct 2007 22:08:19 +0200 From: "Spil Oss" To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Subject: cvsup vs csup X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: spil.oss@gmail.com List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 13 Oct 2007 22:04:43 -0000 Hello all, http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/current-stable.html is referring to cvsup to update the source tree, whereas csup is currently the tool that comes out-of-the-box with a fresh freebsd install (as I found out with a fresh 6.2 install) Would it not be better to refer to the csup program and rename the http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/cvsup.html page to csup.html? Both the current-stable.html and cvsup.html refer to a program not the method. Alternatively one could argue that we should refer to the CVSup method for updating the sourcetree and subsequently make references to both cvsup and csup programs in the CVSup method page. I would be happy either way, but things seem a bit inconsistent currently. Kind regards, Spil.
