The latest snapshot is available at ftp://corona.homeunix.net/cx88_20071007.tar.gz There have been a few bugfixes since the 20070930 snapshot, but mostly support for the LG H064xf PLL and LG DT3303 demodulator has been added to libtuner, which could be useful for other cards. --Jason From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Oct 8 01:21:34 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C4B9D16A417 for ; Mon, 8 Oct 2007 01:21:34 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from info@far-galaxy.de) Received: from mail.far-galaxy.de (mail.far-galaxy.de [217.172.182.15]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4265C13C455 for ; Mon, 8 Oct 2007 01:21:34 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from info@far-galaxy.de) Received: from [192.168.51.102] (p57A37065.dip.t-dialin.net [87.163.112.101]) (authenticated bits=0) by essen015 (8.14.0/8.14.0/Gentoo Linux 0.1) with ESMTP id l980s5nl013635 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=NO) for ; Mon, 8 Oct 2007 02:54:15 +0200 Message-ID: <4709802B.20807@far-galaxy.de> Date: Mon, 08 Oct 2007 02:56:11 +0200 From: Sebastian Fohler User-Agent: Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 (Windows/20070728) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Spam-Status: No, score=-98.0 required=5.0 tests=RCVD_IN_SORBS_DUL, USER_IN_WHITELIST autolearn=no version=3.1.8-gr1 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.1.8-gr1 (2007-02-13) on essen015 Subject: undefined symbol pthread_join on ffmpeg using php5-ffmpeg X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 08 Oct 2007 01:21:34 -0000 This hint didn't work for me. If you want to make some serious updates to the bktr driver, > the project could use a bktr maintainer. =46inally i changed the way that zmc (zoneminder capture daemon) called the= bktr driver : c =3D METEOR_CAP_SINGLE; ioctl(m_videohandle, METEORCAPTUR, &c);=20 instead of the old asynchronous way, where i had the effect of frames of th= e=20 previous input interlacing with the current input. c =3D METEOR_CAP_CONTINOUS; ioctl(m_videohandle, METEORCAPTUR, &c);=20 And i can say i have a working zoneminder for as many as 4 cameras! I haven't done any extensive performance test, but some time i will try to dig in zoneminder/video processing/theory a little bit more, and also try the 3rd way of calling btkr/meteor (Memory mapped, multi-frame ring buf= fer=20 synchronize capture). The one which uses a signal to notify the process of the availability of the frames. Should i look at it? think i read somewhere this last one does not work. Anyways, a lot of thanx to Mark,Julian who helped me understand that this card is not "multiplexed" at all, (like it is advertised). It just switches inputs and its up to driver/user program to synchronize. At the moment i can get about 5 fps, which is not bad, but not so good either. Anyways, it seems it needs some more work to come in par with the linux version. I contacted the guy who did the port, and he didnt seem to have addressed configurations with local cameras, (he did his tests only with net cams), and he just put in the local camera (bktr ) code from a previous unofficial= =20 port. Also from what he said, he is not interested in submit a PR for the port. Anyways, the port is there=20 (http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3D7862&postdays=3D0&posto= rder=3Dasc&start=3D0), my patch is there=20 (http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3D7862&postdays=3D0&posto= rder=3Dasc&start=3D15) and i think someone interested could pick it up and submit the port to=20 =46reeBSD. Personally, (and i have practically zero video/audio programming experience) i think the port is just a little far from being a fully operational and=20 performing FreeBSD ZoneMinder port, with applications in monitoring, security, surveillance, etc... (This card also supports some kind of alarm output, but i dont know anythin= g=20 else about it). > > --Mark Tinguely. =2D-=20 Achilleas Mantzios From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Oct 9 12:43:06 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B57E016A468 for ; Tue, 9 Oct 2007 12:43:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from info@far-galaxy.de) Received: from mail.far-galaxy.de (mail.far-galaxy.de [217.172.182.15]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1BF0413C455 for ; Tue, 9 Oct 2007 12:42:48 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from info@far-galaxy.de) Received: from [192.168.51.102] (p57A35317.dip.t-dialin.net [87.163.83.23]) (authenticated bits=0) by essen015 (8.14.0/8.14.0/Gentoo Linux 0.1) with ESMTP id l99CgQ9p019753 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=NO) for ; Tue, 9 Oct 2007 14:42:39 +0200 Message-ID: <470B77AF.30107@far-galaxy.de> Date: Tue, 09 Oct 2007 14:44:31 +0200 From: Sebastian Fohler User-Agent: Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 (Windows/20070728) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Spam-Status: No, score=-98.0 required=5.0 tests=RCVD_IN_SORBS_DUL, USER_IN_WHITELIST autolearn=no version=3.1.8-gr1 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.1.8-gr1 (2007-02-13) on essen015 Subject: undefined symbol pthread_join on ffmpeg using php5-ffmpeg X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 09 Oct 2007 12:43:06 -0000 here some outputs which may help to find a solutions: php -m: http://rafb.net/p/zwa1yf30.html make clean install output: http://rafb.net/p/IojEVb56.html objectdump -T ffmpeg.so http://rafb.net/p/NflnRH33.html ldd ffmpeg.so http://rafb.net/p/pkhpyy75.html The stranges thing is, I don't have to recompile php-ffmpeg. This setup has worked so well that I haven't even bothered to upgrade neither tha machine nor the driver (cxm) or MythTV. I'm still running on the same amd64 machine, still with the same PVR-500 tuner card, and still with this setup: root@kg-fil# uname -a FreeBSD kg-fil.kg4.no 6.2-STABLE FreeBSD 6.2-STABLE #20: Mon Mar 12 23:04:49 CET 2007 root@kg-fil.kg4.no:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/FIL60 amd64 The PVR-500 has dual tuners, allowing me to record one show, while watching LiveTV, or recording two shows at once. And still watching recordings. I'm using a Macmini (G4) with Mythfrontend as the frontend. However, this evening I was watching a few episodes of Heroes, and after I finished one episode, I can't get the frontend to start playback of _any_ recording at all, not even the episode I was just watching! If I start Mythfrontend locally on the backend, it works, and I see this in /var/log/mythbackend.log: 2007-10-09 22:16:00.469 MainServer::HandleAnnounce Monitor 2007-10-09 22:16:00.469 adding: kg-fil.kg4.no as a client (events: 0) 2007-10-09 22:16:00.471 MainServer::HandleAnnounce Monitor 2007-10-09 22:16:00.472 adding: kg-fil.kg4.no as a client (events: 1) When I start mythfrontend on the Mac mini I see this in /var/log/mythbackend.log: 2007-10-09 22:21:33.488 MainServer::HandleAnnounce Monitor 2007-10-09 22:21:33.489 adding: torfinn-ingolfsens-mac-mini.local as a client (events: 0) 2007-10-09 22:21:33.492 MainServer::HandleAnnounce Monitor 2007-10-09 22:21:33.493 adding: torfinn-ingolfsens-mac-mini.local as a client (events: 1) 2007-10-09 22:22:10.639 MainServer::HandleAnnounce Playback 2007-10-09 22:22:10.640 adding: torfinn-ingolfsens-mac-mini.local as a client (events: 0) 2007-10-09 22:22:10.643 MainServer::HandleAnnounce FileTransfer 2007-10-09 22:22:10.644 adding: torfinn-ingolfsens-mac-mini.local as a remote file transfer Mutex unlock failure: Operation not permitted Mutex destroy failure: Device busy Any clues on what can be wrong? Raaf's patch for mpeg4ip was successfully applied, and I began making video clips of my cockatiel. Sound pickup is not successful, but this could be an inherent problem with snd_ich, which my onboard sound chip uses. I did not obtain similar results with vlc, using the patch most recently made available: freebsd# cd /usr/ports/multimedia/vlc freebsd# make install clean ===> Patching for vlc-0.8.6.c_5,2 ===> vlc-0.8.6.c_5,2 depends on file: /usr/local/bin/perl5.8.8 - found ===> Applying FreeBSD patches for vlc-0.8.6.c_5,2 Ignoring previously applied (or reversed) patch. 5 out of 5 hunks ignored--saving rejects to configure.rej => Patch patch-configure failed to apply cleanly. *** Error code 1 The functions of vlc overlap considerably with those of mpeg4ip, of course. Nevertheless, I would like to try all of the patched applications, for they extend FreeBSD's functionality into areas previously beyond reach. (Can anyone tell from the above output why the compilation of vlc was unsuccessful?) I managed to capture video from more than 1 camera, in zoneminder. I'd like to ask, whats the theoritical max fps for each of 4 cameras using the bktr driver in its FreeBSD-6.2 state? In my code, with METEOR_CAP_CONTINOUS (single camera) it can do (as ZM reports) 25 fps (which AFAIK is good), whereas with all 4 cameras and by using METEOR_CAP_SINGLE, the fps drop down to 2.5 fps/camera. Is that the max the driver can do, or is my code in trouble? Where is what i do (pseudocode): void initialize() { if (single camera) { c = METEOR_CAP_CONTINOUS; ioctl(m_videohandle, METEORCAPTUR, &c); } } void PreCapture(int channel) { if (number_of_cameras > 1) { /* this runs only when number of cameras are 2 or more */ /*stop continous capture */ int tmpc = METEOR_CAP_STOP_CONT; /*1*/ ioctl(m_videohandle, METEORCAPTUR, &tmpc); /* set the input */ int tmpint=bktr_dev[channel]; /*2*/ ioctl(m_videohandle, METEORSINPUT, &tmpint); /* 3 set single capture mode */ tmpc = METEOR_CAP_SINGLE; /*3*/ ioctl(m_videohandle, METEORCAPTUR, &tmpc); } } The PreCapture method is never called when number_of_cameras > 1. In case (number_of_cameras > 1), the operations "1" and "3" are needed to be run only the first time that capture() is run. Subsequent runs dont need those. Has the above code any flaws? If i try to remove syscalls "1","3" from runs 2,3,4,... whould i have better performance? You are getting 25fps (PAL/SECAM?) with free-running captures, and 10 fps when your capture switches and single captures. That sounds about right. I don't know the input switching speed. Also, the video inputs of the different cameras are not going to aligned to each other and also not aligned to the program that calls the METEOR_CAP_SINGLE. I would expect that every capture will have to wait for the start of a new video frame. --Mark. He.. Strangely enough, it turned out to be a network related problem. Apparently, I have managed to max out one 100 Mbps switch (a cheap eith port unmanaged) with my network traffic. I changed the switch to a 1Gbps switch (still a cheap unmanaged one) and the problem disappeared. Heh, I would never had thought that I gernerated that much traffic, and it was strange that I didn't notice it on Samba traffic either. In many cases these ports are failing to compile on some subset of the FreeBSD build environments. The most common problem is that recent versions of -CURRENT include gcc4.2, which is much stricter than older versions. The next most common problem is that compiles succeed on the i386 architecture (e.g. the common Intel PC), but fail on one or more of the other architectures due to assumptions about things such as size of various types, byte-alignment issues, and so forth. In occasional cases we see that the same port may have different errors in different build environments. The script that runs on the build cluster uses heuristics to try to 'guess' the error type to help you isolate problems, but it is only a rough guide. One more note: on occasion, there are transient build errors seen on the build farm. Unfortunately, there is not yet any way for this algorithm to tell the difference (humans are much, much better at this kind of thing.) The errors are listed below. In the case where the same problem exists on more than one build environment, the URL points to the latest errorlog for that type. (By 'build environment' here we mean 'combination of 5.x/6.x/-current with target architecture'.) (Note: the dates are included to help you to gauge whether or not the error still applies to the latest version. The program that generates this report is not yet able to determine this automatically.) portname: graphics/gstreamer-plugins-swfdec broken because: Does not compile build errors: http://pointyhat.freebsd.org/errorlogs/i386-errorlogs/e.6.2007100219/gstreamer-plugins-swfdec-0.10.5_1,3.log (Oct 7 16:54:31 UTC 2007) overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=graphics&portname=gstreamer-plugins-swfdec portname: multimedia/dirac-reference broken because: Incorrect pkg-plist build errors: http://pointyhat.FreeBSD.org/errorlogs/sparc64-errorlogs/e.5.2006121119/dirac-reference-0.6.0_2.log (Dec 28 19:25:05 UTC 2006) http://pointyhat.freebsd.org/errorlogs/i386-errorlogs/e.6.2007100219/dirac-reference-0.7.0.log (Oct 7 16:52:03 UTC 2007) overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=multimedia&portname=dirac-reference portname: multimedia/gstreamer-plugins-mpeg2enc broken because: Does not build build errors: http://pointyhat.freebsd.org/errorlogs/i386-errorlogs/e.6.2007100219/gstreamer-plugins-mpeg2enc-0.10.5_2,3.log (Oct 7 16:48:56 UTC 2007) overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=multimedia&portname=gstreamer-plugins-mpeg2enc portname: multimedia/handbrake broken because: Does not compile build errors: http://pointyhat.freebsd.org/errorlogs/i386-errorlogs/e.6.2007100219/handbrake-0.7.1_5.log (Oct 7 16:48:42 UTC 2007) overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=multimedia&portname=handbrake If these errors are ones that you are already aware of, please accept our apologies and ignore this message. Date: Wed, 10 Oct 2007 13:30:03 +0800 Dear Sir, Thanks for your suggestion. The AHCI driver of FreeBSD 6.2-S still seems to have some problems to detect SATA DVD/CD drive. The ICH* (AHCI mode) has the same problem too. Many Linux Distributions already support JMB36x like Fedora Core 7, OpenSuSE 10.2, Ubuntu 6.10, and Mandriva 2007.1 etc Best Regards, Ethan Hsiao ______________________________________________________________________ From: Rick Nekus [mailto:solarux@hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, October 09, 2007 11:00 PM To: fae; sales Cc: solarux@hotmail.com Subject: FreeBSD Support ? Hello, You mentioned on your site that Jmicron works with FreeBSD 5.5 and above? I am using FreeBSD 6.2-STABLE (with latest updates...) Hardware: Asus P5B-Premium Vista Edition. -JMB363 sata/pata chipset Pioneer "Sata" DVD (Model DVR-212D) Drive (using AHCI mode) connected to the JMB363 satra controller port. I have the SATA (hard)drives connected on the Intel ICH8R ports (they are non-raided in AHCI mode, and I can install freebsd via ftp but not by DVD/CD drive if its connected to the JMB363 Sata port. In either case, with even the lateset FreeBSD kernel , patches,.... its doesn't even see a /dev/dvd. unfrotunately, this is unacceptable. -This same above problems happens with "many" Linux Distributions, (DVD/CD boots but then the system cannot install becuase the installer,... cannot "see" the DVD drive anymore?) however, one distro that worked fine recognizing the DVD drive connected on jmb363 port is "Sabayon Linux 3.4f " In any case, as you may well know, there are a lot of other people having the same problems (just google "jmicron freebsd"). Can some of your development/driver team work closely with the FreeBSD Driver Development team to fix this universal Linux/FreeBSD issue ? Thanks, respectfully.
