Hello, I have no idea what the driver should be or even if it exists, but you can try this to know: add snd_driver_load="YES" to /boot/loader.conf then look at your dmesg and kldstat output to see what happens. It will load one by one all drivers and keep one which works. Hope it will help. Now I have both the HDA SB600 card working and the SATA controller working (I only got the SATA-150 drive, not the faster 7200rpm drive however, so mine only gets recognized at SATA150 speed). I am going to clean up said dirty hack and then I'll try sending over a patch with some instructions that depend upon a loader.conf hint to set the memory range manually. Then hopefully we'll have something working until some auto-remapper for PCI mem ranges can be implemented. Oh and I feel dirty now so a shower is probably in order. Attached is a dmesg for your enjoyment. -- Coleman Kane --------------030803010401040105090809 Content-Type: text/plain; name="dmesg.txt" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline; filename="dmesg.txt" Copyright (c) 1992-2007 The FreeBSD Project. Basically it creates a patch which can be applied to the sys/dev/pci/pci.c on -CURRENT to enable a tunable that allows you to manually set the PCI mem I/O range for that particular card (the SB600 High-Def Audio Controller). There are a number of instructions for using devinfo and pciconf to determine where you have available I/O memory available. I'll follow up with some more information on getting the SATA controller working tomorrow. -- Coleman Kane From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 10 11:07:08 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BA18916A4A9 for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2007 11:07:08 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 98A4013C4F2 for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2007 11:07:08 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.2) with ESMTP id lBAB78Tl073415 for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2007 11:07:08 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.1/Submit) id lBAB77VK073411 for freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.org; Mon, 10 Dec 2007 11:07:07 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2007 11:07:07 GMT Message-Id: <200712101107.lBAB77VK073411@freefall.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: freefall.freebsd.org: gnats set sender to owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org using -f From: FreeBSD bugmaster To: freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Current problem reports assigned to freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2007 11:07:08 -0000 Current FreeBSD problem reports Critical problems Serious problems S Tracker Resp. As always, the patches are against -CURRENT. You must apply the sound card fixes in order to get the SATA to work, otherwise you'll be getting a bunch of bogus data from the mem i/o ops. If you don't fix the sound card memio range: Likely case the driver won't attach to the connected device(s), possible unlikely case: wreck the data on your drive. -- Coleman Kane From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 10 22:35:56 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2ACA916A47A for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2007 22:35:56 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from chuckr@chuckr.org) Received: from mail5.sea5.speakeasy.net (mail5.sea5.speakeasy.net [69.17.117.7]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0B45313C516 for ; Mon, 10 Dec 2007 22:35:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from chuckr@chuckr.org) Received: (qmail 10331 invoked from network); 10 Dec 2007 22:35:55 -0000 Received: from april.chuckr.org (chuckr@[66.92.151.30]) (envelope-sender ) by mail5.sea5.speakeasy.net (qmail-ldap-1.03) with AES256-SHA encrypted SMTP for ; 10 Dec 2007 22:35:55 -0000 Message-ID: <475DBEBC.1060805@chuckr.org> Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2007 17:33:32 -0500 From: Chuck Robey User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; FreeBSD i386; en-US; rv:1.8.1.9) Gecko/20071107 SeaMonkey/1.1.6 MIME-Version: 1.0 To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Subject: streaming video X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 10 Dec 2007 22:35:56 -0000 I can't figure out how to get streaming video (as exemplified by the links on this page: http://countdown.ksc.nasa.gov/elv/public/ ) to display. I tested it with your latest changes on my system and everything works as expected, on-the-fly DVD ripping was also fine. However it doesn't build in tinderbox. Here is the whole output: http://www.hcl-club.lu/~jaj/stuff/handbrake-0.9.1.log The main problem is that libvorbis doesn't build because it doesn't find libogg: checking for Ogg... no ... configure: error: must have Ogg installed! (on line 6678) The are some other minor problems. Unfortunately tinderbox always cleans the work folder after it finishes. I don't know how to make it keep it to have a look at what's going wrong. -- "I am chaos. I am the substance from which your artists and scientists build rhythms. I know that setting the correct mime type would help (and that info would be of use) but that's why I gave the sample video url, so folks could tell me why I can't just kick off (for example) either xine or maybe totem. I have a little issue regarding mythtv-setup and a core dump problem regarding mythbackend. 1) mythtv-setup 2007-12-12 22:14:19.856 Using runtime prefix = /usr/local xscreensaver-command: not found 2007-12-12 22:14:19.867 DPMS is not supported. 2007-12-12 22:14:19.883 New DB connection, total: 1 2007-12-12 22:14:19.887 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2007-12-12 22:14:19.889 Total desktop dim: 1274x867, with 1 screen[s]. 2007-12-12 22:14:19.894 Using screen 0, 1274x867 at 0,0 2007-12-12 22:14:19.906 Current Schema Version: 1160 2007-12-12 22:14:19.923 Total desktop dim: 1274x867, with 1 screen[s]. 2007-12-12 22:14:19.928 Using screen 0, 1274x867 at 0,0 2007-12-12 22:14:19.930 Switching to square mode (G.A.N.T.) 2007-12-12 22:14:19.943 Using the Qt painter mythtv: could not connect to socket mythtv: No such file or directory lirc_init failed for mythtv, see preceding messages 2007-12-12 22:14:22.043 Loading from: /usr/local/share/mythtv/themes/G.A.N.T./base.xml 2007-12-12 22:14:22.072 Loading from: /usr/local/share/mythtv/themes/default/base.xml ps: Process environment requires procfs(5) The first tells me the runtime prefix is /usr/local. Is this correct? Mythtv is installed in /usr/local/share/mythtv/ The last line complains about procfs. I'm running FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE with linux_base-fc-4_10 and linux-procps-3.2.5 installed. I'm woundering which process is called and why it complains about procfs? So far mythtv-setup runs fine and reports no errors. Look, when I get a pdf file, I tell it to kick off xpdf, not "xpdf.plugin" and when the popup asks me how to handle it, I say to use xpdf, and it works fine. I want to get the equivalent behavior for video. The plugin info is nice, but not what I'm shooting for. Can you see what I'm going for here?
