To use this driver, you will need to add the following line to the / boot/loader.conf file: atapicam_load="YES" then, reboot your machine. Is there any reason why one can't load the kernel module manually, at least for testing, without rebooting? I was able to do that just to satisfy myself that it camcontrol could see what I hoped it would. From what I gather, strdup is present in the "IEEE Std 1003.1, 2004 Edition" standard and quite possibly the POSIX.1-2001 version too. The man-page also mentions that the function first appeared in 4.4BSD but numerous sites on the net claim that it was 4.3BSD that brought it about. Does FreeBSD's implementation conform to these as well as SVr4? These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. r - repocopy The resolution of the problem report is dependent on a repocopy operation within the CVS repository which is awaiting completion. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. Since you own the .net or .org version of the domain, I was pretty certain you'd want the preferred ".com" version. [3]freebsdnewbie.com was previously priced at $257, but I have some great news for you. As part of a very limited marketing test, I've decided to discount our inventory of domain names for just 24 hours. You can use the following special "Offer Code" in the secure form at our site to save $50 on [4]freebsdnewbie.com (the domain name that you really wanted). That's a huge savings. You do have to act right away though... because this offer is only good for the next 24 hours. At the bottom of http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/virtualization-guest.html the VMware section is still empty. Installation is pretty simple, except with respect to time synchronization. There are two things to do to sync guest time with host time: 1. kern.hz="100" from earlier on the same page. 2. In the host OS, the VMware image directory, edit the vmx file with a text editor and add or set tools.syncTime="TRUE". You need to have VMware tools installed and vmware-guestd running, but between these two things you no longer need X to be installed. Thanks.
