What it is doing in "archives" is not quite clear. Anyway, maybe the port could have an update? The change is really straightforward -- just bump the driver version string and file size and checksums. I've been testdriving it for a while now, nothing unusual. JFYI, XvMC in mplayer more or less works with this driver in 7.0-STABLE, too -- if you forcefully compile it in. The quality is surprisingly good, even with bob-deinterlacing, though aspect ration gets distorted in fullscreen for some reason. > Ah, that sounds like the nvidia I've grown to (dis)trust. Going > through all the trouble of adding support for brand new cards, and not > adding one simple line to a small documentation file... Bah! Over 200k in weight might hardly qualify as "small" :) But, from what I hear on the Net, they've been doing it for ages: seems like their drivers for Winblows contain text files with PCIIDs and card/chip names. So, that means you could find out about their new cards before they are even released just by reading the text files in fresh drivers :) > -Mark C. I had a bizarre IRQ storm on IRQ 10 for a DL 180 (or 185?) recently that I didn't fully figure out. The box had two bge(4) interfaces and if I manually disabled the driver for either one (didn't matter which one) the IRQ storm went away. I haven't been able to chase it down further, but it doesn't act like a normal IRQ storm (the storm should have "stayed" with a given device). -- John Baldwin From owner-freebsd-hardware@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Apr 16 15:46:19 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id DA607106566B; Wed, 16 Apr 2008 15:46:19 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from girgen@FreeBSD.org) Received: from melon.pingpong.net (melon.pingpong.net [195.178.174.161]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9DBE18FC22; Wed, 16 Apr 2008 15:46:18 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from girgen@FreeBSD.org) Received: from localhost (localhost.pingpong.net [127.0.0.1]) by melon.pingpong.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id 673C85087E; Wed, 16 Apr 2008 17:25:01 +0200 (CEST) Received: from melon.pingpong.net ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (melon.pingpong.net [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with LMTP id 16750-03-30; Wed, 16 Apr 2008 17:25:01 +0200 (CEST) Received: from [192.168.1.187] (unknown [213.136.40.204]) by melon.pingpong.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3DAFA50848; Wed, 16 Apr 2008 17:25:01 +0200 (CEST) Date: Wed, 16 Apr 2008 17:24:51 +0200 From: Palle Girgensohn To: John Baldwin , freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Message-ID: <62858BF8F0D2B4C47A936646@rambutan.pingpong.net> In-Reply-To: <200804161030.23577.jhb@freebsd.org> References: <885C4B6A17699CD41C7586C7@c-6354e155.1521-1-64736c12.cust.bredbandsbolaget.se> <200804161030.23577.jhb@freebsd.org> X-Mailer: Mulberry/4.0.8 (Linux/x86) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at pingpong.net Cc: Subject: Re: FreeBSD 7.0 does not work on HP DL180, irq 10 storm X-BeenThere: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: General discussion of FreeBSD hardware List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 16 Apr 2008 15:46:19 -0000 --On onsdag, april 16, 2008 10.30.23 -0400 John Baldwin wrote: > On Friday 11 April 2008 01:35:15 pm Palle Girgensohn wrote: >> A customer is trying to get a brand new HP DL 180 to work with FreeBSD. >> We tried 7.0-RELEASE-amd64 and the March 7-STABLE-amd64 snapshot, none >> of them works. >> >> I don't have the entire picture, since I haven't tried installing myself, >> the machine is 700 km away, but it is an experienced sysadmin doing the >> installation.
