FWIW, my Asus M2A-VM HDMI[1] also panics if a usb keyboard is connected during boot. And it also works if I connect the usb keyboard after the machine has booted. If that's so, maybe other quirk table entries for DA_Q_NO_SYNC_CACHE might need to be removed too ? BTW Diff still applies to 7.0PRERELEASE. Whether needed is another thing, but after 22 months of limbo would be nice to come to a conclusion. Comment ? Julian -- Julian Stacey. During that time, the machine can be pinged but Postfix, Apache and OpenSSH do not accept new connections and console commands also hang. During one backup session this may happen several times and finally it seems that not only access to the MyBook is affected but all disk access operations (for example, I edited /etc/crontab with vi and after :w had to wait several minutes until the file was saved). During the last backup session which was especially troublesome I finally decided to reboot the machine, but the 'reboot' command also hung and no further interaction with the machine was possible (except ping). This was done from a remote location over ssh. Several hours later someone arrived at the site where the server is and disconnected the USB drive. After that the reboot proceeded. During these several hours, more g_vfs_done() error=5 messages were logged. This problem does not happen during every backup session, but it has happened during 4 backup sessions of the total 8 that have been performed after upgrading to 6.3, and it has happened with both disks. One of the disks has been verified with WD Data LifeGuard and found to be OK. dmesg: Copyright (c) 1992-2008 The FreeBSD Project. This rather puts a kink in my ability to set up my xorg.conf to use XInput (I have already read how to do that, if I ever find a driver that is either named superpen or compatible with it, I think likely). I took at look at /usr/src/sys/dev/usb/usbdevs, and if you look above, you'll see it probed with the number 0x5543. That number shows up already taken in usbdevs as: product CMOTECH CNU550 0x5543 CDMA 2000 1xRTT/1xEVDO USB modem Nothing else seems more likely to me. Anyone have any suggestions to me? I'm currently reading all I can lay hands on about usb, so I won't act as a completely idiot when you give me a good suggestion. I'm also giving my time to Google, looking at both Linux and Gimp documents for this detail.
