One example is the way we keep track of proposed ideas for student projects or other nascent development projects. It would be great to have a dynamic web app which displays all the different ideas in different categories, with searching functionality, and most importantly, with some kind of voting functionality so that others could vote and comment on proposals. The current process of manually editing the XML files and then waiting for the web build to make the changes live is error prone, tedious, and doesn't allow voting or validation of individual ideas. Does anyone have experience running a php based voting/ideas board that we could use for summer of code project ideas and other experiments? Ideally we'd run this as an experiment on a separate server, as we did with wikitest.freebsd.org for years, and then maybe move it to official freebsd.org machines at a later date. Any takers? - Murray From owner-freebsd-www@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Mar 18 09:52:22 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-www@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D1948106566B; Tue, 18 Mar 2008 09:52:22 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from joel@FreeBSD.org) Received: from av12-2-sn2.hy.skanova.net (av12-2-sn2.hy.skanova.net [81.228.8.186]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8C6578FC31; Tue, 18 Mar 2008 09:52:22 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from joel@FreeBSD.org) Received: by av12-2-sn2.hy.skanova.net (Postfix, from userid 502) id B5F5638BE2; Tue, 18 Mar 2008 10:35:02 +0100 (CET) Received: from smtp4-2-sn2.hy.skanova.net (smtp4-2-sn2.hy.skanova.net [81.228.8.93]) by av12-2-sn2.hy.skanova.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0EBFC38AA6; Tue, 18 Mar 2008 10:35:01 +0100 (CET) Received: from joel-dahls-macbook.local (81-233-61-198-no71.tbcn.telia.com [81.233.61.198]) by smtp4-2-sn2.hy.skanova.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id E748937E42; Tue, 18 Mar 2008 10:35:00 +0100 (CET) Message-ID: <47DF8CC4.8090901@FreeBSD.org> Date: Tue, 18 Mar 2008 10:35:00 +0100 From: Joel Dahl User-Agent: Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 (Macintosh/20080213) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: Murray Stokely References: <2a7894eb0803172207s20aede75w5632bd463654cc77@mail.gmail.com> In-Reply-To: <2a7894eb0803172207s20aede75w5632bd463654cc77@mail.gmail.com> X-Enigmail-Version: 0.95.6 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Cc: freebsd-www@freebsd.org, freebsd-doc@freebsd.org, Alexander Leidinger Subject: Re: Need an environment for dynamic web content for freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-www@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD Project Webmasters List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 18 Mar 2008 09:52:23 -0000 Murray Stokely skrev: > Our static XML/SGML based infrastructure is really showing its age for > some types of web content. I have no problem using the existing infrastructure, but moving it to the wiki has been a goal of mine for a long time, as it would allow more people to easily contribute stuff without doing the boring cvs-commit-and-wait-for-the-website-to-rebuild-dance. Should we move it to the wiki instead? It doesn't seem that my opinion matters (removal of syncer entry and =20 no re-adding of it on my request). I'm thinking about removing my =20 email address from the ideas page (first I want to send a private mail =20 to Robert asking him if there are other reasons for the removal which =20 where not made public). Apart from that: - the wiki doesn't seem to be able to provide what Murray is interested in - I like Murrays idea - I don't care where the ideas page is located (static/wiki/...), as long as we have something to present to people which want to contribute Bye, Alexander. --=20 http://www.Leidinger.net Alexander @ Leidinger.net: PGP ID =3D B0063FE7 http://www.FreeBSD.org netchild @ FreeBSD.org : PGP ID =3D 72077137 The duration of passion is proportionate with the original resistance of the woman. =09=09-- Honore DeBalzac From owner-freebsd-www@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Mar 20 09:45:08 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: www@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7BE1D1065672 for ; Thu, 20 Mar 2008 09:45:08 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from SteveMarks@mail.tlcollect.com) Received: from mail.tlcollect.com (mail.tlcollect.com [210.193.131.133]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 115798FC1B for ; Thu, 20 Mar 2008 09:45:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from SteveMarks@mail.tlcollect.com) Received: from mail.tlcollect.com ([192.168.0.2]) by mail.tlcollect.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.3959); Thu, 20 Mar 2008 04:09:58 -0400 Received: from mail pickup service by mail.tlcollect.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC; Thu, 20 Mar 2008 04:08:40 -0400 Thread-Topic: Two Years interest free on Whitsunday apartment Accreditor: Habeas X-Habeas-Report: Please report use of this mark in spam to X-Campaign: TL-ZZpK7883j29kNZ85ul thread-index: AciKYXqL9QKdjTAzRt6Bd3DXOiX8oQ== Errors-To: From: "Steve Marks" To: Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2008 04:07:45 -0400 Message-ID: <95D20DA936944624B0DD1F8080883117@srv5> MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000 Content-Class: urn:content-classes:message Importance: normal Priority: normal X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.3790.4133 X-OriginalArrivalTime: 20 Mar 2008 08:08:40.0312 (UTC) FILETIME=[9B5D8F80:01C88A61] Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Cc: Subject: Two Years interest free on Whitsunday apartment X-BeenThere: freebsd-www@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: TL-ZZpK7883j29kNZ85ul@campaign.raywhite.com List-Id: FreeBSD Project Webmasters List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2008 09:45:08 -0000 Dear , You have just received a message from Steve Marks at Ray White = Whitsunday.
