Date: Sun, 04 Jul 2010 20:22:47 +0200 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I did not write this section of the handbook, but I think the word "test" is the problem here. It should just go away. Then the section basically says "... during an upgrade all installed ports should be removed and reinstalled. This is done by issuing a "portupgrading -af" ..." Otherwise the next paragraph would not make any sense. I think some feedback from the author of this section is needed here. This is defined in en_US.ISO8859-1/share/sgml/freebsd.dsl (or in the particular language directory, if not using the en_US documentation). Changing the text should be trivial, I have not tried disabling it but I guess it won't be hard either. I have some Makefiles for web and DocBook documents, they are similar but I use XHTML 1.0 Strict and DocBook 5.0 (which is also XML-based) with some local modifications. The XML base also means that I also use another pieces of software to render (e.g. Apache FOP instead of Jade and I don't remember if there's anything else) but all of those are available in Port Collection. I can pass you my sources if you are interested. It's possible to make a custom dsl and a custom catalog; I've done that before. But the complexity... Just for fun, I tried AsciiDoc. It's surprisingly capable, and so far is much quicker to write than SGML markup. According to him, the pthread man page is currently not written with the goal of teaching people how to use pthreads. The addition you're proposing would be a little out of place, perhaps a good book about that subject would be a better way to gain such knowledge. If anyone is willing to write much more detailed man pages on pthreads, we would be glad for this contribution. But as far as this PR is concerned, we agree that it would be best to close it for now. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=134376 From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Jul 10 10:41:26 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C15321065675; Sat, 10 Jul 2010 10:41:26 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bcr@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 993F98FC1B; Sat, 10 Jul 2010 10:41:26 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id o6AAfQFA032407; Sat, 10 Jul 2010 10:41:26 GMT (envelope-from bcr@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from bcr@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id o6AAfP5c032403; Sat, 10 Jul 2010 10:41:25 GMT (envelope-from bcr) Date: Sat, 10 Jul 2010 10:41:25 GMT Message-Id: <201007101041.o6AAfP5c032403@freefall.freebsd.org> To: jhs@berklix.org, bcr@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org From: bcr@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: docs/107924: [usb67] usbd(8) does not call detach X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 10 Jul 2010 10:41:26 -0000 Synopsis: [usb67] usbd(8) does not call detach State-Changed-From-To: open->closed State-Changed-By: bcr State-Changed-When: Sat Jul 10 10:39:38 UTC 2010 State-Changed-Why: The USB code has been completely rewritten, making this PR not an issue anymore.
