Reviving an old thread here: The C99 compliance page was last updated in 2011 and it currently shows a large amount of outdated information. I see this page being used in many discussion forums, on IRC, etc. to show FreeBSD in a negative light. We need to either (A) move this to the wiki (b) update it on a routine basis or (c) delete it. Can I please have a volunteer go through the page and tell me what to change? I am more than happy to act as the 'doc proxy' but someone needs to commit to monitoring changes. -- Eitan Adler From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 9 11:05:12 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 69096E48 for ; This is fixed in stable/9 and will be a non-issue for 9.3-RELEASE. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=184527 From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Dec 12 06:33:10 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id B3EF1DCF for ; Thu, 12 Dec 2013 06:33:10 +0000 (UTC) Received: from mail-ve0-x242.google.com (mail-ve0-x242.google.com [IPv6:2607:f8b0:400c:c01::242]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-RC4-SHA (128/128 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 734E810B8 for ; Thu, 12 Dec 2013 06:33:10 +0000 (UTC) Received: by mail-ve0-f194.google.com with SMTP id jw12so1254738veb.1 for ; Wed, 11 Dec 2013 22:33:09 -0800 (PST) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20120113; h=mime-version:date:message-id:subject:from:to:content-type; bh=U2Z8BuKp/5zRftoDNhxlpwYeKXxfXMms8E9OIgI1pTI=; b=x5fWNo3seG2CObWz6avXNwnjVjiw8ABCv3hdY3A495zXUx3GtTlLZTMdj0OSomkBUg Zl9uxSMOBLPfZy7crCWOlzwsOBx+uIwxDAX95ENx0Z1xrTBs4lOMORBD8w37HPBQffxP Y1Rgo5BfWC9Kmmv83ZkoCnifoY4GqECHYMBDxmGd31QbvqET2HAjFK0VrN8hVj1oWkkR pbpbdyk88ajASNw78n78xKUcjaleo6JcL/ExcYvcM1C0Yx784YtntYVebsOfaSM0QfA6 Ic7MVzqFLvb8IYMUvGP/cnbhCOXKTEeIQj1R8taXFokIBcV6HTH+f2AIulgysOMFPOOc hSWA== MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Received: by 10.220.194.133 with SMTP id dy5mr2577398vcb.3.1386829989676; Wed, 11 Dec 2013 22:33:09 -0800 (PST) Received: by 10.221.50.131 with HTTP; Wed, 11 Dec 2013 22:33:09 -0800 (PST) Received: by 10.221.50.131 with HTTP; Wed, 11 Dec 2013 22:33:09 -0800 (PST) Date: Wed, 11 Dec 2013 22:33:09 -0800 Message-ID: Subject: , From: Roderick Devlin <7209796127.rd@gmail.com> To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.17 X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.17 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2013 06:33:10 -0000 7209796127.rd@gmail.com From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Dec 12 09:19:12 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 7E44F32C for ; Thu, 12 Dec 2013 09:19:12 +0000 (UTC) Received: from boomer.ukrhub.net (boomer.ukrhub.net [94.125.121.14]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E93D21CA4 for ; Thu, 12 Dec 2013 09:19:11 +0000 (UTC) Received: by boomer.ukrhub.net (Postfix, from userid 58) id D11F824DC63; Thu, 12 Dec 2013 11:12:21 +0200 (EET) X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.3.1 (2010-03-16) on teta.ukrhub.net X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, score=-2.9 required=8.0 tests=ALL_TRUSTED,BAYES_00 autolearn=ham version=3.3.1 Received: from gamma.ukrhub.net (unknown [10.100.1.91]) by boomer.ukrhub.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9A48524DC5E for ; Thu, 12 Dec 2013 11:12:19 +0200 (EET) Received: from gamma.ukrhub.net (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by gamma.ukrhub.net (8.14.7/8.14.7) with ESMTP id rBC9CCL7086378 for ; Thu, 12 Dec 2013 11:12:12 +0200 (EET) (envelope-from ds@ukrhub.net) Received: (from ds@localhost) by gamma.ukrhub.net (8.14.7/8.14.7/Submit) id rBC9CCX7086377 for freebsd-doc@freebsd.org; Thu, 12 Dec 2013 11:12:12 +0200 (EET) (envelope-from ds@ukrhub.net) Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2013 11:12:12 +0200 From: Taras Korenko To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Subject: en/handbook/basics: proposed corrections #2 Message-ID: <20131212091212.GC85778@gamma.ukrhub.net> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="0F1p//8PRICkK4MW" Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.22 (2013-10-16) X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.17 Precedence: list Reply-To: Taras Korenko List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2013 09:19:12 -0000 --0F1p//8PRICkK4MW Content-Type: text/plain; charset=koi8-u Content-Disposition: inline Good day, doc@ folks. I've come to think we should embrace IDs on nearly every major element, not avoid them. They're cheap and helpful. It allows a direct link to the exact spot, which has come in handy in the mailing lists and forums. When an ID is not present, it's like giving map directions: "go to this link, scroll down and look for the table called..." In this case, the text is close to the table, but that could change at any time. With or without the link, the patch looks good to me. Thanks! There is no example of having an ether entry in this file or the rtadvd.conf man page. Have a tc reference to a non existent entry appears to cause the whole entry to be ignored. The example entry also sets "addrs" to 1. There is no mention of what this does either in that handbook section or in the man page. I can't see any reference in the source either so perhaps this is no longer needed? Without those 2 entries the only thing left is setting the address range but rtadvd will pick this up from the interface itself in most normal configurations so no config file should be needed at all. I'm no expert on rtadvd so please confirm this yourself but this is what my experiments lead me to believe. >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: Remove the instructions about creating an rtadvd.conf file. >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Dec 14 22:12:10 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 35FD774B for ; Sat, 14 Dec 2013 22:12:10 +0000 (UTC) Received: from mail-pb0-x22a.google.com (mail-pb0-x22a.google.com [IPv6:2607:f8b0:400e:c01::22a]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-RC4-SHA (128/128 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 107F41269 for ; Sat, 14 Dec 2013 22:12:10 +0000 (UTC) Received: by mail-pb0-f42.google.com with SMTP id uo5so3977050pbc.29 for ; Sat, 14 Dec 2013 14:12:09 -0800 (PST) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20120113; h=mime-version:sender:date:message-id:subject:from:to:content-type; bh=Z1ENJnz1HYK4q+YgjxOyiaf8yx6LX2JYgQGzzZhRogY=; b=ONVqwU/xHDoKHfD+TV6spyvMdLW9t0rMxFK0UmmsvTRSoFDg1OPIi5kVHtOJX+QlHD Bogzt34gUF/jfFZpJk1sc0pPa66hB3IT1ahiOpzpoEFq26OCJzFNOhcC4I0KpHJW+3N0 71hOpyhZ//aHo7A193Y7cdEF71/idFxQPO58TV6VpzZQG1lNoy/azL+LemaUyOX136Hr kfn/mYRXQgEDAuLHKNGw4yY6QZUjrvqpQDnTqOOEI5ZQl9hWGUgdKm104qi85Cfa80WK NWZh1vhYwK3CZhFjOv+E9eqOSPlrGAtJ0ilS2W8ukbs1Z7S7mt4zIZXIJXSET/5+mkMH hyqA== MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Received: by 10.69.19.225 with SMTP id gx1mr11645687pbd.62.1387059129524; Sat, 14 Dec 2013 14:12:09 -0800 (PST) Sender: sjk4015@gmail.com Received: by 10.68.114.101 with HTTP; Sat, 14 Dec 2013 14:12:09 -0800 (PST) Date: Sat, 14 Dec 2013 17:12:09 -0500 X-Google-Sender-Auth: v2h-F6zIdsIs9LUAubAPxBSjwnc Message-ID: Subject: Update to man-refs.ent From: Steven Kreuzer To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.17 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 14 Dec 2013 22:12:10 -0000 Hello- If someone has some free time, would you be able to review this patch for me? http://clamps.exit2shell.com/~skreuzer/patches/nve-counter.patch It adds manual page entities for nvme(4), nvd(4), nvmecontrol(8) and counter(9) which are new for FreeBSD 10. Looks good to me. I can commit it, or you can, with an Approved from me. Thanks!
