However, keeping the collection up, and DELETING all the files out from under it (optionally replacing them with a README) is not cool. Mirror operators prefer to make their own decisions about deleting their datasets. ADDING a readme would be ok though. I think cvsup provided that as an intermediary reading cvs. I think svn requires a checkout, then the non-commit-atomic rsync. Gnats is hopefully being gutted for a real ticketing system, but I have not seen much open public discussion on it. The raw mailing list archives is a huge value to be able to mirror and load into your local MUA/searcher. And if someone would set the forum to send out an archive mail per post that would be just as cool and useful. Www should be from and just a repo mirror as usual. The wiki needs to present an export/mirror interface too. MediaWiki does that well, and you can back any good wiki with git or some rcs, but again, who will express interest, talk, and let features / migrate all these good things... ??? People like to do local things with all these datas :) From owner-freebsd-hubs@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Jan 3 11:02:04 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.FreeBSD.org [8.8.178.115]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9A95E71A for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2013 11:02:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from simon@qxnitro.org) Received: from mail-la0-f47.google.com (mail-la0-f47.google.com [209.85.215.47]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 27B9DF60 for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2013 11:02:03 +0000 (UTC) Received: by mail-la0-f47.google.com with SMTP id fh20so7521936lab.20 for ; Thu, 03 Jan 2013 03:01:56 -0800 (PST) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=qxnitro.org; s=google; h=mime-version:x-originating-ip:in-reply-to:references:date :message-id:subject:from:to:cc:content-type; bh=MkFc9I8abiqyJNC7ESyelq1jOTjYzO6RG3hiXUNwwyo=; b=Rr+Npea/WermOtnlQwm75x0faM8McEHJeTzt04mJH5xUqvr4diC49WS9VqDUbWZFx1 TelFMINz/uruGFL27HUjHheXGGh+glkpFW8ktXA7t0twdsYWoqInreAd1nV9ce7LHFLU +1TDJAUXtpTHm1KILZp2hMON+/XtnsYLCEWDY= X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=google.com; s=20120113; h=mime-version:x-originating-ip:in-reply-to:references:date :message-id:subject:from:to:cc:content-type:x-gm-message-state; bh=MkFc9I8abiqyJNC7ESyelq1jOTjYzO6RG3hiXUNwwyo=; b=VOPjJhdaavsKUKrEbF1KoiOkW9pi5lP3News2UrODBZotbPE9MJdKtzNedyNHSk9b4 WsuXo514kpvQFPHr4inisF0m+zB6AVyOMBoA9E+FyoQoEnX2aXmHY4/5itfTX4sxJVVL 4cDNA2DscJeM3XGMgJ24q17sLV/ocIhc/7eRbpNMg10Daq72q0kuMg+QXtLxxkO8CCBz /SqiZgGrSwMeudXkIV9wYsMBISFwtiAOmeExOXZgC1WFKGPmmmWUmfqXaaWP8dDEsB3K tbUczHoLOVBrjIvX4l6KfzKeLo11wjn1sfyxLXEXy6ADaWvZccggZMHXHdj2o52PhCbC QNew== MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.112.29.229 with SMTP id n5mr20392575lbh.130.1357210916743; Thu, 03 Jan 2013 03:01:56 -0800 (PST) Received: by 10.112.19.41 with HTTP; Thu, 3 Jan 2013 03:01:56 -0800 (PST) X-Originating-IP: [2620:0:1040:204:561:40cb:9b04:ab38] In-Reply-To: <20130103014049.GA31580@rwpc14.mby.riverwillow.net.au> References: <20130103014049.GA31580@rwpc14.mby.riverwillow.net.au> Date: Thu, 3 Jan 2013 11:01:56 +0000 Message-ID: Subject: Re: 96 collections missing/excised from CVSup servers From: "Simon L.
