Encrypting Disk Partitions" to create a geli encrypted zvol in my FreeNAS server under FreeNAS version 9.2.1.5. It works fine. But some day, when I upgrade the system to 9.2.1.8, I suddenly found I could not attach the encrypted zvol anymore. What ever I do, system shows the following message: geli: Provider zvol/mypool/gelizvol is invalid. I can replay the error in following steps under version 9.3 stable: (Suppose my zpool is named as 'mypool' and I have created a zvol namely 'gelizvol'.) Step one - initialize geli on gelizvol: sudo geli init /dev/zvol/mypool/gelizvol (press Enter twice to give a blank password) Step two - attach the gelizvol sudo geli attach zvol/mypool/gelizvol (press Enter to give a blank password) Then the system shows the error message: geli: Provider zvol/mypool/gelizvol is invalid. I have tried many times in 9.2.1.5 and such operation will complete without error but when I go back to the newer version, I constantly get such error message and cannot get my geli encrypted zvol back. I'm not sure whether you could help me out? Many thanks! I've just set up ssmtp for the first time after using sendmail as an outgoing mailer for several years. Using chapter 28.7 in the handbook https://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/outgoing-only.html The instructions are clear but I missed some information that had been useful to me. I'd like to suggest that mention of which information must be present in the ssmtp.conf file. In the present text it says can be configured. For example in my case these values had to be changed. For the first two there was no doubt, the third was by trial and error. root=yourrealemail@example.com mailhub=mail.example.com hostname=_HOSTNAME_ I think it will be helpful to others to mention how ssmtp actually runs. There's no service to start, it's nice, but from the text it's not clear how ssmtp runs and that changes to the configuration files are immediate. Nice to know I think. Following the first part of chapter 28.4. Changing the Mail Transfer Agent I could disable sendmail. I think it should be mentioned earlier in chapter 28.7 before one starts installing ssmtp. My suggestion is to move the line "Make sure to disable Sendmail, including the outgoing mail service. See Section 28.4.1, "Disable Sendmail" for details." To before installation of ssmtp. Maybe some mention of ssmtp in chapter 28.4.2? These are my 10 cents. Please feel free to use if you find it productive. For additional security and to prevent spam, a captcha could probably be added. Also, to make things easier for the maintainer, perhaps there could be a user input field to input the new version number. I feel this would have a lot of benefit for end users as it is much quicker/easier to click a button and fill out a captcha than it is to file a full-on bug in bugzilla. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. Turns out, sysinstall doesn't freeze, it just didn't configure the keyboard layout properly. In result, for instance, F1 press performs as if "E" keystroke was pressed and F2 as if "C" was pressed. I guess I should choose to "configure kernel via CLI" option before proceeding to the sysinstall and configure keyboard layout there. Is my guess correct? Is there any advice you could provide me with while I'm hacking my way alone? Any advice is appreciated.
