Hmm, now you're out of my area of expertise. When I installed my latest systems, I installed 9.x and 10.0 from scratch and used pkg, rather than trying to upgrade in-place. In theory it should work, but ... In any case 8.4 will be out of support in 6 months. You might want to keep that in mind. I would not be too surprised if some things were starting to not work there. mcl From owner-freebsd-pkg@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Dec 28 10:54:50 2014 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-pkg@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher AECDH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4476F404 for ; Sun, 28 Dec 2014 10:54:50 +0000 (UTC) Received: from sleipnir.msys.ch (smtp.msys.ch [46.175.8.2]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "smtp.msys.ch", Issuer "CAcert Class 3 Root" (not verified)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id C8C4A1A8B for ; Sun, 28 Dec 2014 10:54:48 +0000 (UTC) Received: from mail.msys.ch (smtp.msys.ch [46.175.8.2]) by sleipnir.msys.ch (8.14.3/8.14.3) with ESMTP id sBSAsVVM005345 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=NOT); Sun, 28 Dec 2014 11:54:32 +0100 (CET) Received: from vpn-client-02.msys.ch (vpn-client-02.msys.ch [46.175.8.231]) (authenticated bits=0) by mail.msys.ch (8.14.3/8.14.3) with ESMTP id sBSAsU2E029628 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=NOT); Sun, 28 Dec 2014 11:54:31 +0100 (CET) Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Mime-Version: 1.0 (Mac OS X Mail 8.1 \(1993\)) Subject: Re: libintl missing on FreeBSD 10.1 system From: Marc Balmer In-Reply-To: <549E90DB.3000501@infracaninophile.co.uk> Date: Sun, 28 Dec 2014 11:54:26 +0100 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Message-Id: <6344B703-51EE-42D3-A720-68FC77F3D909@msys.ch> References: <46D06ACB-6726-46A2-9CED-98437B72BC6A@msys.ch> <549E90DB.3000501@infracaninophile.co.uk> To: Matthew Seaman X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.1993) X-SMTP-Vilter-Version: 1.3.6 X-Spamd-Symbols: AWL Cc: freebsd-pkg@freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-pkg@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.18-1 Precedence: list List-Id: Binary package management and package tools discussion List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 28 Dec 2014 10:54:50 -0000 > Am 27.12.2014 um 11:58 schrieb Matthew Seaman = : >=20 > On 27/12/2014 10:06, Marc Balmer wrote: >> I am trying to compile a piece of software on FreeBSD 10.1 that = includes a PostgreSQL server header file, which tries to include = libintl.h. It's one of the symptoms of the problem with the switch from a single gettext package to gettext-tools and gettext-runtime that many files went missing. If you were using pkg-1.3.8 (which was current at the time) and didn't follow the instructions in UPDATING then you'ld experience this effect. It's just an educated guess, but I suspect that graphics/mozjpeg conflicts with graphics/jpeg, against which all your other packages have been built. If that's indeed the case, it should be possible to *replace* the latter with the former, something like "portmaster -o". But I don't know off the top of my head how to do that with binary packages. I suspect the official way is to is to use a set -o old-pkg:new-pkg: pkg delete -f jpeg (-f prevents all dependent packages from being deleted) pkg install graphics/mozjpeg pkg set -o graphics/jpeg graphics/mozjpeg Odly, I note that graphics/jpeg is a dependency of graphics/mozjpeg, so color me a bit confused. I also don't understand why gcc and gcj are dependencies. I guess mozjpeg requires the run-time libraries. And why has Firefox decided to switch my language to UK English??? Weird morning! -- R.
