While I believe it works for your use case, I don't feel comfortable changi= ng it for all users in such a way without thorough testing, or at least a good understanding of why the upstream had those more complex conditions. I'll leave this open and try to study the source, time allowing, but it will take some time to figure out. Also, I don't know sshfs, and maybe it's a ve= ry specific thing. BTW have you seen the wrong behavior without this patch appear in any other filesystem besides sshfs? --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org Mon Nov 13 18:54:40 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-xfce@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4E813DC170C for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 18:54:40 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (unknown [127.0.1.3]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3693578AF7 for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 18:54:40 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 33213DC1709; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 18:54:40 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: xfce@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 32C39DC1707 for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 18:54:40 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 20B4078AF6 for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 18:54:40 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id vADIscEg013277 for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 18:54:40 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: xfce@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 217946] x11-fm/thunar dumps core on file or dir rename Date: Mon, 13 Nov 2017 18:54:39 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Ports & Packages X-Bugzilla-Component: Individual Port(s) X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Many People X-Bugzilla-Who: kevinz5000@gmail.com X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: xfce@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: maintainer-feedback? What are the steps to reproducing the crash? It happens when renaming directories on the desktop, but I was unable to reliably reproduce it. I was saving a book on the desktop using calibre. To do that I opened the s= ave book requester of that app and created a directory, then renamed it inside = the requester and there goes the crash in a reliable way. I'm almost sure it can be triggered in any requester, but just in case it depends on which one, calibre uses py-qt5, so I'd try with some qt5 app and eventually with calibre itself. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org Mon Nov 13 20:19:43 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-xfce@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 41034DD4A86 for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 20:19:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 284507C99E for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 20:19:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 275B4DD4A84; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 20:19:43 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: xfce@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 254C2DD4A83 for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 20:19:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 1389E7C99D for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 20:19:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id vADKJgsN019250 for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 20:19:42 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: xfce@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 223655] x11/xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin: Update to 1.7.4 Date: Mon, 13 Nov 2017 20:19:42 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: new X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Ports & Packages X-Bugzilla-Component: Individual Port(s) X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: patch-ready X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: duchateau.olivier@gmail.com X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: xfce@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: maintainer-feedback? There's an assertion which fails causing the crash. I'm unsure how to attack this. One option is to disable the G_FILE_MONITOR_SEND_MOVED flag and let xfdeskt= op cope with separate deleted and created events. Another option could be to modify xfdesktop to use the non deprecated and apparently supported G_FILE_MONITOR_WATCH_MOVES flag (and related events). = This is definitely more difficult. The crash doesn't seem to do with kque= ue > but still occurs in the file monitor. I had a look at the backtrace. Unluckily it's missing data for stack positi= ons 1 and 2, so we don't know exactly what's happening there. Anyway, it fails in a compare function, which is called via a pointer, so I don't know which one that is. Some other code from some consumer set that callback, that information can be extracted only at runtime with a debugger. I'm almost sure the crash is caused by that compare function. I have been unable to reproduce this crash, I'm using en_US locale, maybe you're using a different one? That could cause string comparison errors, if= the code has some defects. Otherwise, could you recompile some more parts with debugging symbols and t= ry again? maybe we can catch the missing calls. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org Mon Nov 13 22:36:07 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-xfce@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8A68FDD8F45 for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 22:36:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (unknown [127.0.1.3]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7257F1953 for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 22:36:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 717E9DD8F41; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 22:36:07 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: xfce@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 712A8DD8F40 for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 22:36:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 5F4B71951 for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 22:36:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id vADMa7nK085909 for ; Mon, 13 Nov 2017 22:36:07 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: xfce@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 223655] x11/xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin: Update to 1.7.4 Date: Mon, 13 Nov 2017 22:36:07 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Ports & Packages X-Bugzilla-Component: Individual Port(s) X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: patch-ready X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: madpilot@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: In Progress X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: xfce@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: maintainer-feedback+ X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.25 Precedence: list List-Id: XFCE for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 13 Nov 2017 22:36:07 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D223655 --- Comment #3 from Guido Falsi --- (In reply to Olivier Duchateau from comment #2) > (In reply to Guido Falsi from comment #1) >=20 > In my 4.13 branch (for 2.1.4 release), I have also a patch [1], which fix= es > warnings (need to be reviewed by upstream). >=20 > [1] > https://app.assembla.com/spaces/xfce4/subversion/source/HEAD/tags/4.13/x1= 1/ > xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin/files/patch-panel-plugin_launcher.h As far as I can see that object is always used as a class and its definition too looks more like a class than a struct, so it looks correct to me. The last patch I added is the same as the one before, but with a small extra change aimed at fixing the crash in xfdesktop. In fact it should not change much in thunar. There still is a crash in thunar I'm trying to reproduce with debugging packages. There is a chance this last crash which I still have to address is unrelated to glib, but I cannot be sure until I get a backtrace. I'm not sure what you're seeing, Have you tried running thunar via gdb directly? --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.=
