It is available at: http://pkgs.chen.org.nz/ports/java-eclipse.txz If you're a Eclipse user or just curious, please download the port and try building and then testing it. The little testing that I've done indicates that it works for Java, but I haven't tried other features, eg Eclipse RCP. The main problem with the port is that it currently looks *very* ugly; ie: buttons have odd sizes, text boxes are slightly too big, indicators are a few pixels off. I'm trying to determine the cause of this, but even if I can't find it in the next few days, I will be releasing the port as it stands if there are no functional problems. Cheers. -- Jonathan Chen From owner-freebsd-java@freebsd.org Sun Mar 24 06:52:06 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-java@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3C045154D4CE for ; Sun, 24 Mar 2019 06:52:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from glewis@eyesbeyond.com) Received: from misty.eyesbeyond.com (gerbercreations.com [71.39.140.16]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 97DB66F430 for ; Sun, 24 Mar 2019 06:52:01 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from glewis@eyesbeyond.com) Received: from misty.eyesbeyond.com (localhost.eyesbeyond.com [127.0.0.1]) by misty.eyesbeyond.com (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id x2O6psfH054611; Sat, 23 Mar 2019 23:51:54 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from glewis@eyesbeyond.com) Received: (from glewis@localhost) by misty.eyesbeyond.com (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id x2O6prND054606; Sat, 23 Mar 2019 23:51:53 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from glewis@eyesbeyond.com) X-Authentication-Warning: misty.eyesbeyond.com: glewis set sender to glewis@eyesbeyond.com using -f Date: Sat, 23 Mar 2019 23:51:53 -0700 From: Greg Lewis To: Olivier Cinquin Cc: freebsd-java@freebsd.org Subject: Re: jshell libiconv problem Message-ID: <20190324065153.GA53471@misty.eyesbeyond.com> References: <46849605-9D62-4F52-AAA2-87B12D6AFC4E@uci.edu> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <46849605-9D62-4F52-AAA2-87B12D6AFC4E@uci.edu> User-Agent: Mutt/1.11.4 (2019-03-13) X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: 97DB66F430 X-Spamd-Bar: / Authentication-Results: mx1.freebsd.org X-Spamd-Result: default: False [0.70 / 15.00]; ARC_NA(0.00)[]; NEURAL_HAM_MEDIUM(-0.35)[-0.348,0]; FROM_HAS_DN(0.00)[]; TO_DN_SOME(0.00)[]; MIME_GOOD(-0.10)[text/plain]; HAS_XAW(0.00)[]; DMARC_NA(0.00)[eyesbeyond.com]; AUTH_NA(1.00)[]; RCVD_COUNT_THREE(0.00)[3]; TO_MATCH_ENVRCPT_SOME(0.00)[]; MX_GOOD(-0.01)[mail.iagu.net,mail.eyesbeyond.com]; RCPT_COUNT_TWO(0.00)[2]; NEURAL_SPAM_LONG(0.31)[0.312,0]; NEURAL_HAM_SHORT(-0.23)[-0.234,0]; R_SPF_NA(0.00)[]; RCVD_NO_TLS_LAST(0.10)[]; FROM_EQ_ENVFROM(0.00)[]; R_DKIM_NA(0.00)[]; MIME_TRACE(0.00)[0:+]; ASN(0.00)[asn:209, ipnet:71.32.0.0/13, country:US]; IP_SCORE(-0.02)[asn: 209(-0.02), country: US(-0.07)] X-BeenThere: freebsd-java@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting Java to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 24 Mar 2019 06:52:06 -0000 On Sat, Mar 23, 2019 at 09:47:33AM -0700, Olivier Cinquin wrote: > Hi, > jshell from the openjdk11 or openjdk12 ports won't launch. Can you please enter a bug report on this? If not, = then > I'll create one so we can track this. Done. Incidentally, I read somewhere that the FreeBSD foundation has access to = the Java Compatibility Kit. Would it be a good idea to set up automated testing using that kit? It really looks nice! This morning I've tried your github to build. Build was fine, but "eclipse" can't find java environment. Now I'll try port and I will come back with results. Thank you! P.S. Is it time to change strategy from linux-replacement to full freebsd support with upstreaming of patches? ;) On Sun, Mar 24, 2019 at 3:15 PM Jonathan Chen wrote: > Hi all, > > I've managed to produce a functional port for eclipse 4.11 (code named > 2019-03). Issue was lack of version of stat symbol in eclipse_1900.so. Solution (i'm not sure it's appropriate) is to add "-lc" as argument for LD command in make_*.mak ( https://github.com/daemonblade/freebsd-eclipse/blob/master/java-eclipse/files/patch-rt.equinox.framework#L391). My version is FreeBSD 13-CURRENT with ino64, so "stat" from eclipse_xxx.so tried to call compat11.stat, when "stat" from binary made correct call. I confirm that basic functionalities works fine, but UI has problem described by you. Thanks! No. The use of 'bsd' for those directories has been true for many releases (see the openjdk6 port for instance).
