To explain that a bit further: as far as I remember, it took bento many weeks (if not months) to notice the packaging issue on sparc64, I couldn't use panther back then, and I didn't receive a single complaint for about half a year, despite plain `make install` being broken. (Make no mistake, I spent many, many hours improving the gcc ports in the last months, and thanks to these cleanups sparc64 at least installs now; to also fix packaging would be relatively straightforward but apparently we don't have any real users on sparc64?)
