He's already disabled eisa probing according to the hints at http://www.4gh.net/hints/toshiba/satellite1005-s157.html which gets rid of one hang during boot. The next one is here: ad0: 28615MB [58140/16/63] at ata0-master UDMA100 acd0:CD-RW at ata1-master PIO4 mounting root from ufs:/dev/md0c ... where the machine just sits there. I've already directed him to disable all devices he doesn't have in visual kernel config, purportedly with the same result.
