uuencode(1) the binary file before feeding it to split(1).  This makes
sure that split(1) doesn't run away if the binary file doesn't contain
enough linefeeds, i.e., looks like one terribly long line.

cat(1) the pieces back together on the other end and uudecode(1) the
result.
