Just to give another perspective, I just switched from fvwm2 over to gnome +
WindowMaker. I find it nicer to the eyes than KDE and it runs real fine even
on my old K6/200 (plain K6).

The combination of the gnome pager and WindowMaker (which lacks a good one) is
good.
