I wish my problem was this easy. I am wanting to use this server as a web
and ftp server, so I have to have it connected to the network.

Besides using ifconfig, is there any other way to delete the interface?

Thanks.

Strangely enough I had this problem on an old PC of mine that had an
onboard lnc type controller (which I didn't use). I am not sure if
I solved it but I did notice that having it plugged into the network
when I booted the system stopped the complaints. I could then unplug
it and I never heard another peep.
