Stephen Gunn >Release: FreeBSD 3.1-RELEASE(PCN) i386 >Organization: Physics Computer Network, Purdue University >Environment: NeXTStep, OpenStep, or MacOS-X VT100 Terminal -> FreeBSD Box via telnet, rlogin, ssh. >Description: Logging into FreeBSD boxen from NeXT machines (I'll lump all of the above into this category for simplicity's sake), I experience termcap-mismatch syndrome. The vt100 termcap entry on FreeBSD is very complex compared to the one that comes on the NeXT and MacOS-X machines I have. I'm not familiar with all of the history on FreeBSD's termcap and what changes have been made along the way. But, I don't have any problems on AIX, SunOS, or Linux. I've successfully replaced the termcap entry on FreeBSD with the one from my MacOS X Server machine. I'm trying to figure out which is correct. Does the FreeBSD termcap entry mean "vt100" or "vt102?" >How-To-Repeat: 1) Log into a NeXT, OpenStep, or MacOS-X Server workstation. 2) ssh/telnet/rlogin to your favorite FreeBSD Box. 3) Run a curses application >Fix: Install the termcap from MacOS X Server: -(snip)------------------------------------------------------------------- vt100|NeXT|Apple/Rhapsody MacOS X Server Terminal:\ :do=^J:co#80:li#24:cl=\E[;H\E[2J:sf=2*\ED:\ :le=^H:bs:am:cm=5\E[%i%d;%dH:nd=2\E[C:up=2\E[A:\ :ce=3\E[K:cd=50\E[J:so=2\E[7m:se=2\E[m:us=2\E[4m:ue=2\E[m:\ :md=2\E[1m:mr=2\E[7m:mb=2\E[5m:me=2\E[m:\ :rf=/usr/share/tabset/vt100:\ :rs=\E>\E[?3l\E[?4l\E[?5l\E[?7h\E[?8h\E[;r\E[0m\E(B\E)B\E[2J:\ :ks=\E[?1h\E=:ke=\E[?1l\E>:\ :ku=\EOA:kd=\EOB:kr=\EOC:kl=\EOD:kb=^H:\ :ho=\E[H:k1=\EOP:k2=\EOQ:k3=\EOR:k4=\EOS:pt:sr=2*\EM:vt#3:xn:\ :sc=\E7:rc=\E8:cs=\E[%i%d;%dr: -(snip)------------------------------------------------------------------- >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-bugs" in the body of the message
