Folks, I have CDROM drive with "Vertos" written on it. It plugged into the its own interface card (40pin), i'm not sure is it IDE or not. Interface card allows me to choose IO port number (I selected 0x320). Also I heard there are few non-IDE standards: Sony, Mitsumi, Panasonic. Is "Vertos" just one of them ? Is "Vertos" supported by FreeBSD ? It seems not to be recognized by Windows 95 (I have no windows specific drivers, just DOS ones). I'd like to figure out whether it's functional or not. Can I just install FreeBSD from that CDROM drive ? Motherboard is 486, based on Opti chipset, it has 3 ISA + 4 VLB.
