if you built it with the system, try named_enable="YES" in /etc/rc.conf
That's the way it is supposed to be.
If you somehow managed not to build bind with the base system (for
instance by excluding it in /etc/make.conf, or maybe in an older system,
dunno how it was before 4.0), the right place to start it probably is
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/, but this depends on your installation.
