IN CASE YOU HAVE SOMEHOW MISSED IT! The desktop-design contest was canceled for lack of participation. Nobody has stepped forward with a nice set of packages that FreeBSD could use as a standard desktop. We need a solid, utilitarian, yet good-looking desktop package to go with our solid, utilitarian, yet usually graceful OS. Since it seems from the lack of participation that nobody really wants to be the desktop designer, it's yet one more task on the lengthy list of potential improvements.
