Andrew, I want to make myself clear as to why I'm asking you to not move ncftp into the source tree. I think ncftp is a GREAT utility, I like it a lot. I also know that we already have an existing tool that has been part of the existing unix functionality for a long time. I also know that the existing tool works in cases where ncftp doesn't. NCFTP is not one of those tools that 'everyone' has to have. Hell, I'm not even sure that PERL is, but it's a general use tool that other package authors seem to think will always be there, so we toss 'em a bone. We're talking about and working on a way to make the whole package concept easier to use. We should be trying to make FreeBSD -more- layered, not more bloated in the general case. Remember, for every box out there that is running as a public access unix box, there are a bunch more that are being used as simple process or disk or CPU servers (or routers :-) ). Stuff should only be moved into the base level when there is a clear and present danger to the future direction of the OS if it's not there. Everyone, please don't turn FreeBSD into FatBloatedElvisOnAToiletBSD.
