I'd like to see that happen as well, mainly because of my dislike of the extra HAL dependency. Warren, maybe we can work on this on Phabricator? If you can provide your outline we can get it moving towards a handbook patch sooner. Maybe involving the ports people as well is also helpful because they should know what needs to be in there (dependency-wise) and what not.
