The synopsis section of the pciconf man page reads:

pciconf -r selector [-b | -h] reg[:reg2]
pciconf -w selector [-b | -h] reg value

but the actual usage of pciconf is
pciconf -r [-b | -h] sel addr[:addr]
pciconf -w [-b | -h] sel addr [value]
