| I'm just curious... is the support for the CMI8738 in 4.7 better than it
| was in 4.6? Is the support for this card ongoing, or is it stagnant?
|
| Specifically in 4.6-STABLE there is no MIDI support for this card.

There is no midi support for *any* h/w supported by newpcm in the 4.x branch.

Support for this card is ongoing in as much as I have the h/w and the specs.
The specs are poor in relation to most other audio h/w, ie minimal register
descriptions, mostly just abbreviated names with no commentary, not endearing.
I have no plans to do any work on midi support. There is a midi framework in
-CURRENT if you are interested, see:
	http://people.freebsd.org/~tanimura/newmidi/midiarch.html
for details. I don't think the code has been worked on since this document
was written. Best poll the author.
